I’m just so underwhelmed by Village Inn. The quality is just so low and the only good thing about this place is the service and the pies(although they’re no where near as good as Belle Sucre’s pies) and sometimes the menudo. Every time I think I’ll actually order something off the menu, it arrives and it makes me want to scream, «WHYYYYYYYY?» The last time here, I saw their new«Mexican» items. Wah, wah, wah. Disappointing. I ordered the steak tampiquena and then was asked how I wanted it cooked. I thought that was a kind of strange question because the steak used in steak tampiquena is usually pretty thin so it’s hard to produce anything but well, very well and extremely well. Two things crossed my mind; 1. This waitress doesn’t know anything about this dish or 2. They’re using a really thick steak which I like. Turned out it was the first. I ordered it medium and it came out well… which is okay because well is what I expected. Thank God I didn’t ask for a well done steak. The steak was ehh. It was just bland and the veggies on top lacked flavor(which is weird because they were real… or were they?). I ended up only finishing the beans and hashbrowns. Normally when I’m forced to go to any VI I just stick with that pick six or whatever the hell it is and basically just make my own skillet. My recipe follows. The service is always nice, but it’s just not enough to entice me to come back. How to Make a Bad Thing Sort of Bearable Recipe: Ingredients: — Hashbrowns — Bacon — Cheese — Onions — Tomatoes — Sour Cream — Toast(for eating separately) Directions: Mix together hashbrowns, bacon, cheese, onions, and tomatoes. Top with sour cream. Eat. Have toast if it’s still not bearable.

This is not my usual Village Inn but I was in the area and wanted to try their Fiesta breakfast items. So as usual my wife and I get different things and share. She got the breakfast enchiladas and I got the machaca. Mine was okay but Lucy’s, Avilas, and Kikis have No concern for competition. The wife’s enchiladas were actually pretty good– but you can get better in a city with our quality of Mexican breakfasts. All in all it was worth the stop if you are on the neighborhood. Service was excellent — if a bit over attentive.

Excellent place to meet up with old and new friends. Good place for breakfast and late night snacks. It is also an excellent place to study. The dessert are delicious.

Usually we come here on the weekends for breakfast. Great service, and we always wait no less than 5 minutes for a booth. We have also come here for dinner sometimes during the week. Can’t vouch for the other options on their dinner menu, but their cheeseburgers are excellent.

Clearly the other reviewers have better alternatives not yet rated on Unilocal… This is a hometown favorite… This is where kids ate fun fare till 3am… Typically good kids just indulging on coffee… The Inns breakfast with double American cheese rules… If you want high end don’t be so cheap. this is a great family and hood kid via late night coffee joint…

Ok, if I didnt review this experience then perhaps someone else would get ill, so here I am. This Village Inn is a skip away from home, my Mother loves when I take her there, and so, we have been here twice this week. BOTH times they have served ROTTEN coleslaw. Honestly –ROTTEN. To where you can see the glaze of sourness. YELLOWCOLESLAW. But here is the kicker: They applied FRESH coleslaw on top to disguise it the second time… . I was floored!!! I ripped into the GM and now will stomp on the Corp office this week. Please be careful if you decide to eat here and inspect what you consume to be on the safe side. If this happened to us, it will happen to anyone.

Village Inn is like IHOP or Denny’s. There’s nothing special about it, but it was a great place to hang out and have some food late at night in high school. I have a lot of fond memories from Village Inn. I just wish I could go back in time and tip the servers better, because when you’re in high school you just don’t know any better…

Basically like a Denny’s. Typical fare, and the only place open on Thanksgiving evening(also Luby’s) – the only reason I’m even including this review.
