Church Picnic Sampler($ 14): Tom’s Fried Chicken, Crawfish Mac & Cheese, and Tom’s Gravy Fries. The chicken is marinated in buttermilk, battered in house seasoning, and topped with Cajun bacon sawmill gravy. The chicken was moist and flavorful with wonderful breading. That means really delicious fried chicken. The mac and cheese was good and would have been by itself, but it was made even more enticing with crawfish! To round out this awesome dish is their equally awesome fries topped with flavorful gravy. This is a must-have for every visit to Tom’s. Beef Mole Stuffed Corn Muffin($ 11): Malted peanut mole, and braised beef chunks. I really loved the corn muffin because it’s fuffy and dense at the same time. It had a great texture. The tender beef and extremely flavorful mole were both wonderful as well. We chose Tom’s House Salad for our side; it’s made with candied pistachios, fresh sliced apples, and maple apple dressing. Delicious! Lamb Barbacoa Flatbread($ 13): 24-Hour lamb breast barbacoa with a pecan chimichurri, grilled queso fresco, arugula, and a hominy salsa. I didn’t love this dish as much as I thought I would; I just wasn’t feeling the flavors. It was just an okay dish. ** I can’t believe they’re closed! I had a little moment of panic when I found out. But, there’s hope! I read on their Facebook page that they are looking for a new(and larger) location this year. I’m crossing my fingers.

I really enjoyed the food! It was amazing actually. The place was dirty though. Very dirty and almost didn’t want to eat. Food gets 5 stars and cleanliness gets 1 so that’s where the 3 stars come from. It’s a very small establishment so I would recommend taking a day to close the place and do an extensive cleaning and then reopen and keep up the habit of cleaning. But again, the food was surprisingly amazing even though I don’t know how we stayed to find out

This was my first time here and tried the sampler. The Mac and cheese was by far the best of the tree choices. Unfortunately, the fries were too salty and soggy and the same goes for the fried chicken. Additionally, the place while being small and could be possibly cozy was freezing!!! I was so cold I could hardly eat. Sadly, I can not say I will be returning and I can not recommend this place to anyone else.

The food itself is 5 star worthy, but it’s the atmosphere of this charming little place that will keep me coming back again and again – (that AND the best bacon of my entire life). Great tunes, delicious food and friendly staff. This place is truly a gem.

I love country cookin’ —-and this place is as good as it gets in El Paso, TX. I’ve gotten the Sunday sampler with fried chicken strips, crawdaddy mac-n-chees and French fries with brown gravy many times and it seems better each time. Over time, I’ve tried about every menu item. The ribs are great, the pot roast is to die for and oh-so-tender, everything is first class. They have a good assortment of odd beers, and the décor is odd to go along with them, but both make it special and out of the ordinary. If you go, go at an off meal hour, like early for lunch or early for dinner. At peak times, they are very crowded, as it is a very small dining room, but it is every bit worth it for me… Happy dining. I think you will come out of here talking with a southern draw.

Pulled pork sandwich. 10 bucks. Unreal. Honestly, it could have cost 20 bucks, made me wait 45 minutes, and called me a dumb ass. I still woulda ate it. Wait staff mad cool. Down to earth hipster dudes, not the better-than-you, dip-sh*t type. Exec chef is a straight up magician. Go.

Toms Folk Café is seriously one of the best places to eat in El Paso. I make it a point to visit every time I’m in the area, which is about twice a year. The Church Picnic Sampler is the absolute best $ 14 you will ever spend and will leave you bursting at the seams. I have never eaten gravy fries until I had them here, and now the world is a little better because my taste buds have been introduced to this delightful concoction. The crawfish mac n cheese was fantastic, gooey with cheese and had plenty of crawfish. The real winner of the meal was dessert– a sinfully orgasmic bread pudding, made with donuts, and covered with white chocolate, almonds, cranberries and a rum sauce. It was truly the MVP of my entire dining experience. I can’t wait to get back!

Such a gem. Difficult for me to write a review because I selfishly want this place to remain somewhat unknown to the masses. Most people will note that it is a very small establishment –and small is an understatement, so be smart about when you decide to stop in. We dropped in around 4PM and we sat immediately. Basically, if you’re going during the lunch or dinner window, don’t be surprised if you have to wait. Personally, I think the food is worth waiting in line for. I ordered Tom’s Fried Chicken and it came with veggies and sweet potato mash. All worked amazingly well together. It’s definitely worth going out of your way for.

Terrific… My absolute top restaurant in El Paso. The charm of this restaurant, with only eight tables is matched by terrific dishes and one-of-a-kind choices. Every time I’m in El Paso I take advantage of this unique place in nine here. The nice thing is even though I’ve been to this restaurant several times, I’m always looking forward to coming again. Don’t miss it if you’re either A guest, traveler or local. You will not be sorry.
