Oishii is new to the El Paso scene and there is definitely a lot to like about it. But it definitely has some room for improvement. First off, its a beautiful restaurant. Nice little«wailing wall» when you come in. Gorgeous long wooden bar. The tables are nicely spaces so you have privacy from other tables. However, while the tables have candles(I didn’t notice this but my friend mentioned it) they are electric which is a little tacky. I also thought the music didn’t fit. It was very pop/electric which totally didn’t fit with the classy vibe the restaurant is striving for. I recommend the restaurant just go ahead and bind their menu into a single menu. Right now they have loose pages. That works if you have a single sheet. But our table was drowning in separate menus with pages fluttering everywhere. Just kinda awkward. Alright on to the food. We ordered spicy tuna and the bon bon platter(non chocolate variety). The service and speed of the food was impeccable(granted there was only two other tables of patrons in restaurant so it was a slow Saturday night). Both plates had very nice presentation. The wasabi was molded into a leaf shape which was a very cool touch. While the sushi was good I recommend the restaurant slice the rolls into smaller rolls. They were too big. You couldn’t take small bites as it would fall apart so your only option was stuffing this massive roll in your mouth. Not the best look when your likely dressed to impress. The bon bons were a bit of a miss for us. The bon bon platter(also a cool presentation) consists of a variety of uncooked fish and beef topped with avocado. Unfortunately, when serving tartar the food is supposed to be chilled. Ours was room temperature(which raises the likelihood of getting sick). We both thought the avocado overpowered the fish. The beef was definitely the best of the bunch though. Finally, I feel the restaurant is still experimenting with its prices. Some of the options are fairly reasonably priced for a higher end restaurant but then you see food options that just make you scratch your head. $ 60 for a tenderloin at a sushi restaurant. Huh??? Overall, I think Oishii is a cool new addition to the El Paso dining scene but still has some kinks to work out.

We had a great dinner at this newly opened sushi restaurant. The menu was creative and very good. We had the sushi bon bon’s with fried rice. They were ball shaped bundles of fish with avocado — they were great. The presentation is amazing and taste so good. I would highly recommend this dish. As they just open this week they did not have low sodium soy sauce– the manager apologized and promised to have it next time. This place has five star potential.
