Dude!!! This funky little spot is the jam! I’ve driven through El Paso exactly twice and I stopped here both times. Booze? Check! Coffee? Check! Food? Check! Divey atmosphere befitting of Austin/Portland? Check! If you’re driving through El Paso and need to refuel your body, I’d suggest you make a pit stop here!

I was in love with this place. After knowing it had vegan options my husband and I would go there every 3 days. Our first experience was really good the server was vegan as well so my husband and I trusted her, she verified that the veggie patty was vegan so that’s what we would order every time, later my husband and I went to eat their vegan menudo on a Sunday which was served in a red plastic cheap bowl and another server told us that the veggie patties weren’t vegan that they were store bought and had eggs as one of the ingredients. It is safe to say that my husband and I will not go back and I would advise the owner or manager to train their employees better, get glass bowls for their menudo and to please clean the restaurant at least every 2 days cuz the place was dusty and dirty every time.

Husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon for coffee and dessert. Dessert choices were limited and a little pricey. I didn’t even look at the regular menu but the food that other tables had looked good. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back for lunch.

Great food and drinks! If you go you need to try the 420 fries and the javi burger. The service can certainly improve but other than that it is great.

Want a bit of bohemia or hipster in El Paso? Visit this café and you’ll know what I mean. As soon I stepped in, I felt like I was transported back home in NYC and the whole atmosphere and artwork reminded me of East Village and Brooklyn. The barista was pretty attentive and I got a pastry and the infamous ‘Golden Milk’. The pastry was good but a tad expensive and the Golden Milk was more like a creamy yet spiced latte minus the Espresso. The only downside I have to this place is that when I asked for the WiFi password it was told to me in a very confusing way. Why can’t they just post it on the cash register to make it easier for the customers? Maybe they wanted to include the ‘hipster’ sarcastic vibe the café lol On the brightside, once you get connected, you’ll find plenty of electrical outlets to plug in your gadget to surf the net or to just chill out. It’s not super busy so you’ll always find a seat. But I’ll be back since I like these independent cafes which is a refreshing change from Starbucks and DD’s that are a plenty

I was told about this place by my cousin. Soooo I had to check this place out for myself. This place was very cozy as well as trendy. A great sign that El Paso is evolving from the plain and boring bar scene. I ordered the«El Javi» burger with a side of 420 fries. OMG so tasty. The fries were not pretty to look at but they were Damn good! I highly recommend this place. The staff was so friendly. I thank you for a great meal and experience. Keep up the good work.

I love this place! My dad loves this place and my fiancé loves this place. Haha! As a vegetarian, I love the herbivore section of their menu. The pesto pizza is one of my absolute favourites. And their fries, oh my god, their fries. I love their fries so much. Lol. They’re always crispy and they always give a good serving size. I haven’t tried the 420 fries(only because I don’t like feta), but my dad and fiancé are obsessed with the 420 fries. They serve great coffee and have a good beer selection. Generally, they have good service. I’ve had some instances that the services wasn’t the best, but it definitely doesn’t stop me from going.

Just wanted to add a bit to my review since I went last night. I hit the carnivore menu with my little brother and I have to say both selections we made looked and tasted amazing. The Mexidog was delicious and very filling while El Javi looked fantastic. My little brother spoke very highly of it. Service was on point and friendly and it was an overall great time. It’s becoming a place I’m confident in showing to others without worries that they’d have an off day. Thanks again.

Great coffee, good beer, delicious food, lots of seating. Live music on the weekend. Free Wi-Fi. Really good breakfast options. I really like JVB. I’ve been coming here for a while and they have responded to client feedback and found better seating options, provided a kids friendly menu and now they have live music. This place is an outstanding locally owned and operated coffee place. So firmly fits into the so-cool central Texas coffee shop model it makes me miss grad school.

The people are awesome. As a tourist I ordered what the waitress suggested because I wanted something interesting. She did not steer me wrong! The atmosphere is vibrant with art, music and lots of locals. They teach music and have art classes. The owner is awesome the food is awesome the art director is awesome. So it is awesome cubed

JVB is a tough place to review. I was torn between a 3 and a 4 stars. The food was amazing and clearly a 4. Service was so-so. But honestly I’ve come to expect that from Bohemian style places. Let me explain. The staff was friendly and offered suggestions when asked. But they just seemed… distracted. They spent a lot of time talking to their friends. Nothing wrong with that but people coming in were slow to get service because of it. Hence my inclination to give it a 3. But you know, its just too cool a place to settle for 3. It fills a unique niche in El Paso. I came in on a Thursday night. Which was doing Open poetry mike(looks like it got going around 9pm). Side note: Friday night is Smut poetry open mike night. I’ve never heard of such a thing but when the bartender told me about it I realized I needed to add that to my bucket list. ‘Cause… why the hell not. Anyways, when I arrived seats were fairly scarce but I was able ot squeeze in at the tiny bar. Restaurant is broken into two halves(as opposed to three). The left side is more of the booth, table, coffee study area. The right side is the bar with three tables or so along the walls. Not unsurprisingly, they play good background music. I ordered the Grilled pesto chicken sandwich. At suggestion of bartender I added tomato to the sandwich and upgrade the fries to the 420 fries. Food came out about 15 minutes later which was pretty reasonable based on the amount of people there. The 420 fries are amazing. Basically they are fries covered in a salad, feta chz, and pesto. I was full from the sandwich but I could not stop myself from cleaning the place of the fries they were that good. I did find a hair in my sandwich. Which when you see the hairstyles of the chefs is not that surprising. The person preparing the food might want to use a hair net. Honestly, a single hair doesn’t bother me tho, I just pulled it out and kept on eating. If your looking for a delicious sandwich or just want to experience a different kind of place, JVB is the place to go. I’ll be back.

This was my first time going to this place and it was great! Reminds me of home(seattle/Tacoma area) and the server was very kind! I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! I was nervous about the tomatoes, onion and fried egg, but I wasn’t disappointed at all. I ordered a kids milk for my son, but when they found out they were actually out at that moment, they offered soy milk or almond milk which was nice! I will definitely be back(:

This place is brilliant! I’ve been coming to JVB for a few weeks now after having moved downtown. The food, atmosphere, staff, and cliental make this a place well worth checking out. Give the 420 fries a shot, and try their«Golden Milk» with a couple shots of espresso added for good measure. They have a small breakfast menu that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere. I came in at about 11am on a Sunday and was able to order one of the best omelets I’ve ever had. Just amazing. To the person who said they weren’t «hipster» enough — no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve seen all kinds of people in JVB. Great beer, great music, great food, and great coffee. Oh, and did I mention that they’re open until midnight every day of the week? New favorite hangout spot for sure.

Always thought that this place was only a coffee shop but when someone told me the sandwiches were good here I had to try it. I ordered the bratwurst on a pretzel bun with mustard, delicious considering I hate mustard! I also tried a new beer by Kona Brewing Co called Big Wave that was really good. The combination of a brat dog and beer always hits the spot. I like the painted walls and the way some areas have the brick exposed. It gives the room some personality. I liked the concrete counter tops and the wooden stools. Definitely a cool spot to hang out and socialize. Everything on the menu is pretty unique and I think it’s awesome they half the menu categorized as «herbivore». If you’re vegetarian don’t be afraid to stop by cause they have a lot of options for you.

This café was quite a delightful experience. After driving around for an hour looking for a good restaurant to eat dinner in, but refusing to go to the same old American Land and Cattle or Olive Garden, I stumbled on this small café. It seemed unimpressive at first with a hipster/starving artist kind of vibe, but after ordering a couple of dishes and a coffee known as «Golden Milk» I immediately changed my mind. The food was shockingly delicious with an affordable and sensible price. I first ordered a couple of ceviche tostadas which were well seasoned and incredibly fresh. I also ordered a the Cuban Sandwich filled with pork and a tangy sauce that made my mouth water. In conclusion I certainly will be returning to this establishment many times in the foreseeable future, and maybe attend some of the art classes it holds weekly.

I really dig the vibe! I have been here three times now. Usually my fiancée and I just order a couple of cups of French press coffee(which is very good,) and then we plug into an outlet, relax and surf the net. The few conversations that we have had with strangers(as well as acquaintances of my sweetheart) have all been very nice. There is a comfy warm ambiance, lack of pretense and an automatic community feeling. Last time I was at the café I purchased a Dogfishhead 90 Min IPA for just FIVE bucks! Unbelievable! Bill and I split a masala lentil and basmati rice plate for 6.50 and it was delicious as well as adequate to satisfy us both. Lenore and Eddie are both wonderful bartenders. They make everyone comfortable, the place is clean, and you never have to wait very long for the freshly brewed French Press. This is, thus far, my fav El Chuco spot!

Hippster. Casual. Innovating. I’m usually a person that must have, MUST have a cup of coffee per day, even more so depending on the workload. My boyfriend and I got tired of the usual Starbucks routine and decided to try out Joe Vinny & Bronsons Bohemian Café. As you enter, you are surounded by local art and photos adorned on the walls. When I got over the cool, hipster art, my eyes gazed upon what was at least 5 different beer taps. What I thought was uniquely cool was a charging station made out of an old phone booth where patrons can charge their phones while enjoying their drinks. I was shocked that not only do they serve an array of coffees, but also a bevy of beers. I was hooked. We ordered a specialty coffee infused with orange and cinnamon, the coffee grounds themselves came from a local grower called BLDG6, which specializes in locally grown coffee plants. The coffee was served in huge, deep coffee mugs and was came with almond milk on the side(just how I like it). We talked over that specialty roast for what must have been a few hours then decided to try the Italian sodas. This coffee shop has a huge variety of different flavors to offer including rootbeer and raspberry, which we had. All in all, I had a great experience and I can’t wait to go again and try their breakfast menu. Come here with friends, with family or that special someone in which you want to spend hours talking with. –A Local Foodie

This is one of those spots that without Unilocal I would have never have found, the same could be said for ¾ of the great hole in the walls that I have found on Unilocal(or Tanya) finding them for me. The people that work here are great, just laid back and there to get you fed, or watered, or just to chat with. The first time my boss and I walked in with our business attire on and he had this look like what are you taking me to… We were greeted by Allie a young musician who has served us everytime we have been there. She’s easy to talk to and quick to recommend something. My favorite sandwich has been the jalapeño cheddar one and I normally drink a coconut Italian soda. My boss and I now swing by here at least twice a month and it’s nice to see them working on the kitchen to churn out some good food. Overall great places to come and chat have something to eat and drink and just relax. I will have to come sometime when they have a live band.
