This place is what you expect out of it, it’s a homelike environment very good food. The prices are good. Service is always friendly. It’s exactly what you’d want from a local restaurant.

They say a hole in the wall please has some of the best food. This please lived up to that old saying. I had the huevos rancheros, a dish I had given up on because I could never find a good one till today. Can’t wait to try something else on my next visit.

A very Towny joint to grab any meal especially breakfast. It’s a simple dinner with Mexican menu. Nothing fancy but pretty good.

Stopped for breakfast at this local gem. It’s so cute inside. They are seats at the bar where you. An watch the cook prepare your food. When we walked in a gentleman was playing guitar. Once he finished playing, another gentleman played & sang. So sweet to be serenaded during breakfast or at any food establishment! The coffee was hot which is high on my breakfast list. The beans looked outstanding as there were a lot of whole beans and not a huge pile of mush. I didn’t eat the hash potatoes either but they looked good. We were served Fluor tortillas with our food. Also, prior to our food they served chips & salsa. The salsa was green, warm & hot! Yummy! I’ll go back for lunch sometime.

Maybe I was expecting too much… I had been wanting to try Good Luck for some time. I finally had the opportunity on a Sunday morning. Got there at about 8:30 am and beat the lines. It is a quaint hole-in-the-wall establishment which I prefer. Busy and fairly clean. I decided to go for the menudo since I’ve had some quality menudo in this city, I wanted to see how this stacked up. I ordered a large and, to my disappointment, my menudo was brought to me in a shallow bowl that you would find in a fine dining restaurant. It might just be me but when I order a large menudo, I want a nice big hearty bowl that I can put my whole spoon in. I don’t want to gently skim my menudo from my bowl. As for the taste, it was ok. There was a lot of meat, which was good but it wasn’t the best menudo that I ever had. Looking at the small bowl I believe that it may have been similar in volume to the large. The limes and onions were also portion controlled. Looking around the restaurant, at most places I would expect many people ordering menudo on a Sunday morning, but it appears that I was the only sap to do so at that time. The locals knew better. Some of the other dishes people had ordered looked good and had more generous portions. I might come back again in the future to order something else. For menudo, you are better off going someplace else.

An El Paso establishment and one of our favorite home restaurants. A true diner experience where the staff has been there as long as I can remember. Service is always fast and friendly and the food consistent. My husband has been getting the ground beef tacos his entire life. I mean, his entire life. It’s one of our first stops when we get to El Paso. My personal favorite is the Hamburger Steak Plate which is a large breaded hamburger steak like patty topped with chili beans and served with hash browns. I’ve never had this anywhere else but El Paso and it is indulgently delicious. Other favorites include the Caldo, Menudo and yes, even the cheeseburgers.

Like always, a long wait to be seated. After being seated, the waitress seemed very rushed and understandably the place was busy. Anyway, the young lady was never attentive and her attention to detail was poor. She messed up our order. We’ve frequent the Good Luck for over 20 years and it now seems they’ve lost they’re ability to serve good HOT food with a smile. I say this hesitantly but the last few times… Poor service n the food never is hot anymore! When the customer points out to staff of their deficiencies, they seem to say the right things… but the same outcome! I don’t think I’ll be back!

Alright, i will caveat my review right off the bat. I prefer tex-mex food to authentic mexican. And Good Luck Café is most definitely a very good authentic mexican place. So if you want that style, I would say its easily a 4 star. For me, I found the food a little dry and tough so it warrants 3 stars from my perspective. When I arrived at Good Luck Café with friends it was packed with a line out the door. Apparently its always that busy. We were able to squeeze our way into the stools at the kitchen bar. I really like the vibe of the restaurant. It feels like a Mexican version of Waffle House(but higher quality food to be sure). My friend asked the cook if i could sample the menudo(I’d never had menudo before). Although I dont think menudo is really my thing, the cook obliged and gave me a very generous sample portion. It was thick with flavor and meaty goodness, although I could see how the texture of the meat could turn off some people. I ordered machaca and the food came out super fast. It was a very generous amount of food. The hashbrowns were prepared in a different, but quite good, thicker, less crunchy version than I’m used too. My friends told me that true mexican machaca is very dry and chewy, almost jerky like, with no cheese. Good Luck Café’s machaca fit that description perfectly. As I mentioned before, I prefer tex-mex so it didnt quite do it for me. I prefer Kikis and Lucy’s machaca(sorry but i love me some queso in my eggs and beef). But my friends’ dishes(don’t remember names,(the food not my friends)) looked impressive. Another strong positive, the food was very inexpensive. I would definitely eat at Good Luck Café again. Their taco plate looked pretty awesome when I saw it. I could see myself upgrading my review to 4 stars if I picked the right dish.

Easily my favorite menudo joint in El Paso. Everything is damn tasty here, the caldo de res, the burgers, any breakfast plate, and the service is always good. There is often a line, but it’s worth the wait. This is my comfort food.

Dear Good Luck Café, You have disappointed me today. I love your beef tacos but from the get go, our waitress got it wrong. Then she said that we didn’t specially say our order correct. I don’t like to argue but my sister did not stay quiet. I am hoping that everyone was just having a bad day because this is still my favorite taco place. I always come here when I visit from Dallas. Like all relationships, I’m giving u one last chance to make it up to me.

The food here is fantastic for the reasonable price. You can eat freshly made menudo anytime, but my favorite is the caldo de rez. Try sitting at the counter for fast and personal service by the cooks as sometimes there is long lunch line to get seated.

I don’t understand how this place has four stars! We went in with a party of eight and the hostess(a young man) rolled his eyes and gave attitude, because it was SO inconvenient to put two tables together. They ended up putting us in the section of the restaurant that was«already closed» it was 8, they close at 12. So, we got attitude for that too. Our waitress(an older lady) was no help either. She got frustrated when we asked questions about the food. The food was alright, but not worth the hassle. Don’t bother with this place, would not recommend it!

Machaca was on point. Eat it. Good thing we have a quasi understanding of Spanish, it seems that’s all the waitress spoke. No worries though, we speak food.

Best Mexican Menudo in the world. The toasted bolillo is a huge plus. Burritos are ok. Pancakes are awesome, bluffy and big.

If you like Menudo this is the only place to go to get it. It is the best in the Southwest. The enchiladas Montado were wonderful but a little pricey. The Menudo ranks five stars the enchiladas rank four stars. My only complaint and the reason for the three star ranking was the Machaca. Different restaurants have different machaca recipes there are two schools of thought. I prefer the one that is smothered in queso sauce. this one did not have that so it cost them a star. The atmosphere on a Sunday morning was cheery and warm. Service was spectacular. I would give ½ of another star if that was an option. I must go back to try the Caldo de Res.

In ELP for work, heard from the local that Good Luck Café is the place to go for some caldo de res and menudo! And that was exactly what I ordered, large bowl of caldo de res and large bowl of menudo. Both soups are tasty, even more so after some limes and onion and oregano! One small personal complaint, that is there is not enough soup(liquid) in the bowl because there are too much ingredient! I can’t believe I am complaining this: P since I bet most would feel you would get your money’s worth by a bowl full of ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, I loved both soups, I just wish there were more soup to go with my goodies in my bowl. Although I am a fan of the Good Luck Café’s soups, it didn’t blown me away. As matter of fact, there are other Mexican restaurants in town that offers just as good caldo de res or menudos. So I will definitely come again if I am in the neighborhood.
