I was very disappointed in this place. The food has poor taste and the only thing i guess was good were the aguas frescas which im sure aren’t homemade. The chicken didn’t have a good flavor like other Mexican specialty chicken places do. The red salsa was ok. The tacos were not great either. I will definitely not be coming back here again. El Pollo Loco, Juan Pollo and several other Mexican places are better than this place’s food.

The food has a lot of flavor and you wont be able to beat the price! The $ 5 value meals will get you full yet craving for more. Major props for the orange bang and horchata too. The service is exceptional — they are very friendly.

I’ve never been one to check in to Unilocal but I had to. This place food is to tasty. Loved it. Up there in taste with Pollo Loco. Or maybe a step back but on the same level as them. I highly recommend it.

8 Esquinas Grill happens to be a little gem in the El Monte area that really serves authentic Mexican food with good style and good flavor. Their chicken enchiladas are amazing! Their strawberry chicken salad comes with an excellent balance of strawberries chickens and a mango sauce that really brings the flavors together. I was especially impressed with the cheese that they used in this meal. I found that the atmosphere was laid-back clean and enjoyable. Hector who I perceive to be the owner was very inviting and approachable. He’s the type of guy that cares about his business and cares about his customers! I will definitely be coming back!

Ordered the 5 $ picadillo meal and was not disappointed. Yummy food, my black beans and rice were great. Also the prices are very reasonable. Loved the salsa they have and I’m definitely going back another day. Also the service was exceptional.

Went in based on a coupon offer during dinner hours mid week. All I can really say is I don’t dig warmed up, dry, overly cooked mini sized chicken pieces. What a disappointment. This place is WAYOVER-RATED. Please note: Others who gave 3+ stars have gotta be shills or something smiliar. I call em’ like I see em’ and this place at best a C-/D+ on a good day. Dine there at your own risk :(

Received an ad with coupons for this place. I decided to give it a shot. Oddly I did not use any coupons since their family special was the best deal they have. Food: 8 piece leg and thigh, 2 taquitos, 2 churros, spanish rice, coleslaw, chicken soups, 4 tortillas and salsa/pico de gallo(self serve). Chicken — At par with El Pollo Loco. Taquitos — Pretty good. I can’t remember the last time I ordered taquitos at a restaurant Spanish rice — Perfectly made. Good texture. Coleslaw — A bit too much liquid for me Chicken Soup — Way too salty Churros — Way too much sugar Their green salsa had avocado in there(thumbs up). Pico De Gallo did not look fresh and I took the last batch. Service: Lady who took my order was extremely friendly and was fairly patient with a different customer. Environment: Feels like an El Pollo Loco in here. Price: Prices at par with El Pollo Loco. Food: 3 Service: 4 Environment: 3 Price: 4

We were greeted with a big smile and was told all food was prepared fresh daily. We purchased $ 5.00 meal and that was a good portion plus a drink. Will return for something different.

Crazy friendly service! When you walk in you can smell grilled chicken. I tried their chicken enchiladas for five bucks. you get 3 piece two sides. I I order a side of chicken to try, if you ever been to Cancun it has the same flavor. But here it’s more juicing fresh. with check in you get a free dessert.

This place used to be el pollo loco. The chicken here has a different flavor but it’s very good. One thing I wouldn’t order again is there carne asada burrito. Its 1lb of fat. The meat was so filled with fat n cartilage and I found a hair. They don’t wear hair nets here so I was weary… Should’ve passed. Anyway. I hope this was helpful.

Came to this place for lunch looking for some tasty tacos, but I was sorely disappointed. Carne Asada Do not, I repeat, do not get the carne asada tacos. I should have known better than to get carne asada from a chicken place. Not good at all. I hope I make it through the day. Chicken I also had the chicken tacos, but they were flavorless. Considering that the chicken is their specialty, it wasn’t anything special. Pollo Loco is much better than this place. Lastly, the menu says the tacos come with Pico de Gallo and guacamole, but they weren’t delivered to me that way. Unfortunately, I realized this after I was finished with my meal. I don’t recommended this place, sorry.

I love CHICKEN(& pizza)…found this place on Unilocal and decided to give them a try. So glad I did. So much better than Pollo mania, Pollo loco and Juan pollo! Their chicken is flavored so good and so moist & juicy! I’m in love with their green salsa! I can literally drink it as is! Not only is their chicken the best ever, so is the customer service. Kimberly and the manager were phenomenal, I srsly thought they were the owners. Businesses need people like this to work for them. People who love their job and make ur business look good. They praised the people they work for, the food and the business, who can do that nowadays. Check in for a free dessert.

So I walked into this place thinking it was pollo loco, good thing it wasn’t. This place is way better(very clean) & I’ve definitely found my new lunch spot! The people here are super kind & just awesome! The chicken is juicy & seasoned perfectly. The favorite sides are the corn with cheese & steamed veggies. I’m hooked & have nothing bad to say about this place.

Today Friday I was driving around with my gal and we both didnt know what to eat. We decided to stop by at the first place we saw. 8 esquinas was the first appealing restaurant we drove by. The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. They asked if we had been there before and when we said no they gave us some chicken to try before we ordered anything. Not only was the chicken delicious, but it was juicy and flavorful compared to the chicken from the pollo loco that was there before. We ordered a chicken tostada salad and chicken and asada tacos. The chicken tacos were very good. The salsa bar they have complimented the food very well. The asada tacos were my favorite and worked out nicely, my gf liked the chicken one herself. The chicken tostada bowl was full to the top and sufficed our hunger. It had beans, lettuce, chicken, guacamole, onion and cream. Cant exaggerate how good it tasted. The plus on top of this, is thay the price was incredible for amounts of food we received. And the soda bar(they have tea and coffee) has unlimited refills. Will definitely keep coming to support this great local business.

Esquines Grill is the former pollo loco of this location, they didn’t do much remodel. It looks as the same as before from the inside and out, except change of the sign. I only try their chicken tacos, it was cheap during their happy hour which is after 4pm from Monday to Thursday, or all day Tuesday. Just 99 cents, the chicken meat were pretty tasty and the portion were generous. There’s a good and more important clean salsa bar. A lot of other place has messy salsa bar. Beside the taco, they do serve fresh grill chicken, I got to sample their chicken drumstick. It was delicious but it lack seasoning. Overall this is a good alternative to Pollo Loco, you won’t disappoint if you graving for pollo loco or grilled chicken.

My first visit here since they opened. This is the old El pollo loco place so it looked familiar when I first entered. In my opinion they are an upgraded version of el pollo. My first visit I ordered their taco specials for $.99 each! I didn’t expect much since it was so cheap but when I received them, the quality was that of a high end Mexican restaurant. The free salsa cart was great also. And they actually have me a free piece of chicken to try! The chicken was juicy and quite tasty. I do enjoy this place and hope more people visit so the can survive as a business. Their food is quite good from my first visit. folks are nice too!
