Been here in the past and was very disappointed today. The young man slicing the meat obviously didn’t want to be there… in fact commented so in front of us. It was a little before 5 on a Saturday night and they were out of chicken and pork. The sides were good as usual and we did enjoy the banana pudding. Unfortunately, I doubt we will be back. Bad customer service and average food doesn’t cut it these days.

Good barbeque, always reliable. Wish the sauce was a bit more robust and spicy. Sides are some of the best of any BBQ place. Always like to stop here when in the area.

The food is passable. The customer service is what took away what would have been a 3-star rating. I value customer service as much, if not more, than quality of food. I ordered the regular lunch plate based on what the server told me: a pick of up to two choices of meat, excluding the chicken, and three sides. I chose brisket and ribs. I was charged for a large plate. When I pointed that out, the cashier said that the ribs is automatically a large plate. The server admitted that she misinformed me, that it was her error. You would think that they would then just charged me for the regular plate since the mistake is theirs, not mine. But no. From my perspective, I truly was cheated. If anything, they should at least given me more meat to make up for what a large would have been. I am sure that the server gave me only enough for a regular plate. I cannot recommend a place that seems to have only profits in mind. As for the food: beans too salty, slaw and green beans were so-so, and the brisket and ribs were nothing special. Would it tasted better as a regular plate? No, but a good experience would have been nice.

Not many cars when we stopped. normally always packed when we pass by. we ordered two meat plates drinks and a pecan pie slice. for about 24.00 brisket was tough no smoke flavor and cold. Ribs were cold but tender. overall not a good experience. Very disappointed.

Food is well prepared but needs faster service. Lines get full during lunch hour. Good service.

Took my family on the way back from the coast. We ate everything they had, and took some home for later. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. We ran out of sausage and my kids want me to make a day trip just to get them dinner. We’ll be back(with a cooler).

We stopped here on the way back home from a visit to Victoria. It was rather late and the buffet had closed but we were able to try their beef brisket, which was tender and succulent. I was dissapointed that they had sold out of the chicken and sausage for the evening, but I loved what I did get. They had plenty of sides such as macaroni salad and pea salad, and the usual potato and beans. I thought the seasonings were a little bland, but pleasing. The potato salad was more of a mayonnaise type but not overly wet and thus good. The beans could be had with jalapeño spices and without. The décor was full of deer heads and kind of utilitarian despite that. Not a bad place food wise, but not very relaxing either.

I’m sure this place has some good items on the menu, but I do not know how they call themselves a true Texas BBQ restaurant, their sliced brisket sandwich is the toughest, smokeless tasting piece of beef I think I have ever purchased in Texas. I wish I had kept driving and grabbed a Whataburger further down the road.

I was tempted to give them just 4 stars since their barbecue didn’t quite meet the same level of deliciousness as their Columbus location( ), but after trying their jerky, I just can’t bring myself to do it. We ended up getting the peppered turkey jerky and I kid you not – the best jerky I’ve had in my life. The jerky is made of some great, chunky slices of turkey and is nice and spicy in the back of the throat. The meat has that nice chewiness that you expect from jerky without being rock hard(I hate worrying if I’m going to lose a tooth by gnawing on some good jerky!) – all part of the appeal. The ribs were really, really good, but just not as life changing as the Columbus location. The meat was incredibly tender, but I just felt like the seasoning was a bit off. This location is enormous and with plenty to choose from. We also walked away with some cheese bread and poppy seed bread – both of which were phenomenal. You could tell it was freshly made and it took quite a bit of self restraint not to gobble it all down immediately. Since this is on the road to visiting the in-laws, I have a feeling that this will be our staple stop on the 7 hour drive. They have all the stuffed animals around, though it isn’t as overwhelming as the Columbus store, mostly because of the size of this place. If you’re not in cammo, expect to feel a little out of place here.
