This is the best buffet not named Barona in San Diego. Great selection, and always stocked full.

We actually walked around to the restaurant side and the lovely young ladies working in the empty dining room said they were cleaning but we could be seated if we wanted to. This room was immaculate and the windows were so clean I thought it was an open air window to the outdoor seating patio. The girl informed us we could go through the hallway towards the bar area. Did you say BAR!!! Score! We had our son with us and it was absolutely fine, we even saw another table with some kids. As we entered the hallway there were wonderful Native American oil paintings on the wall. Then we got into the bar area and there was a massive tv with an empty table so we snagged that space. It was pretty packed in there due to a wedding about to happen. The groomsmen took up a few tables and were pre-drinking. I though, this is going to be fun. People watching. There were 3 bartenders/server women. We had Jan who was an absolute doll! She informed us they have a FULLBAR whatever you want. So my husband ordered a mule and Jan says everything but that. We all laughed. But she made him a tequila gingerale. I had the Thrilla in Vanilla cocktail(LOL because my husband is Filipino I had to). Both tasted really good. The tv was keeping our son happy but not still so we will have to try coming back for lunch or dinner. Drinks were $ 6 and it was not happy hour and they came in very tiny glasses with ice. I really liked this spot. There were huge clean spotless windows looking out to the gazebo grassy area where a wedding was all set up. It was absolutely gorgeous! What a pretty location for a wedding reception. We will have to go back and visit.

We visited for breakfast and we were delighted with the service and amazing food. Eva, our server, anticipated all our needs. In fact, the entire staff continued to check with us. Coffee was never more than half empty. The food portion was huge, with several choices of sides and at very reasonable price. The eggs and bacon perfectly cook. The atmosphere is comfortable, bright, with great views of the golf course.

What a surprise! I always play Mondays at the short par 3 course with my dad, and never gave a thought to the Café and Grill. I grew up on golf courses and the grill meant burgers and beer for golfers away from home. This is one classy place, with great service and food. Shannon catered to our every need on my wife’s combined birthday and retirement. Armondo pressed the flesh and seemed very invested in our good dining experience. And, of yeah, the calimari appetizer and Salmon entrée was to die for. My wife said it was the best meal of her life. If you live near Rancho, don’t miss this one!

One of the most tranquil places to have a nice cup of coffee and breakfast with the family. Sits right on the golf course. Their food is not the best, I think for the area and how much service they get they can bring in a great chef to transform the food they serve and make it more elegant instead of diner like. All and all the atmosphere is very cozy and family friendly and the staff is great!

Surprisingly good food. The pork chalupa was fantastic! The menu is a little limited but everything I tried had wonderful flavored.

The servant this morning has kind of attitude, we came to have breakfast 4 families and we asked for a split receipts, the servant refused and the manager as well, we had to sit separated to make it happen, they said rest. Policy no split recipes per one table ! Very poor friendly environment from the staff, regardless food and place were nice I don’t recommend being here just cause the unfriendly staff

We had breakfast here yesterday before heading to Old Town. Must have been pretty good, as we are here again today. Yesterday we had an omelette and cinnamon French toast. The omelette was good, as was the French toast. The bacon was super crispy(just the way I like it). Today is lighter fare. Oatmeal and bagels. The orange juice is yummy with a bit of pulp.

I almost forgot how beautiful the views and landscaping is here. Came in for breakfast and ordered chicken fried steak and eggs and corned beef hash and eggs. The country fried steak was great, but both plates came out just barely warm. The corned beef hash was not good at all. Big pieces of meat and fat that we couldn’t even chew. Steer clear of this menu item! Our hashbrowns, eggs and toast were all cooked perfectly. Our waitress was nice and we will probably give it another try. We also noticed on the way out there is a little bar/lounge area, we might even stop in here for a drink!

NOTE: This is an excerpt from my personal travel blog. This is about a 3.75 star affair. For dinner, we ate at their Sycuan Café Grill and had pretty good PRIMERIB dinners. I found the horseradish sauce to be better tasting than their au jus. We definitely ended up well fed but their homemade salad dressings were a highlight. The honey mustard dressing was spicy, had visible seeds, was thick, sweet and amazing. The hot and fresh sourdough bread was nice also. The fried CALAMARI rings appetizer was fairly tender with a pretty good taste and spicy mayo dipping sauce. The CARROTCAKE was moist as could be given it was wet via being soaked in «something». By taste it seemed to be soaked in a sugary syrup because it was one serious«sugar bomb». Oddly, the frosting layers were too thin and it needed more black walnuts inside even though the candied walnuts on the plate were much appreciated. The butterscotch sauce drizzled on the plate seemed odd but kind of worked if you like an extra, extra sweet dessert. Possibly that is the sweet sauce they soaked this in? All in all, the food here isn’t «up to par» for what you would expect at a resort. As a result, I shined taking pictures of food… which is a first. The portion below is for ECHO’s LOUNGE(their bar area): In the morning, we dined in their Echo’s Lounge and I had a corned beef hash burrito with swiss cheese and Bella had their Eggs Benedict. My burrito was pretty good but Bella said this was the worst Egg’s Benedict she’s ever had… and she’s had a ton of different renditions of this popular breakfast dish. Also, their coffeemaker doesn’t have a burner plate so the coffee is served«lukewarm»; if you’re lucky. But at least the java quality tasted pretty good.

Food presentation always amazes. Beautiful work. Very creative and delicious. Chef Alex Akilov comes up with the best creative spins on known dishes and amazes with new creative menus. Never disappoints. Love the specials. I can never choose what I want. It’s all so delicious. Great for event, family dinners, casual dinning, and date night.

This restaurant is in a great location in the middle of a golf course, although the building is a bit dated. I come here a few times a month, the breakfast is always outstanding. I love the vibe here the service is friendly and the food is good. On the downside they always seem to change the menu up, and have changed out a lot a good items on the menu. My favorite dish year was the boneless braised ribs which is no longer on the menu. On the plus side they have a great bar in there always try new weekly specials… Today I tried the loco moco, A twist on the popular Hawaiian dish but instead of hamburger patty rice eggs and gravy they twisted up by replacing the hamburger patty with turkey. It wasn’t bad, but would have let the traditional style Be. If you’re looking for a place with good food beautiful surroundings at a decent price come here.

Sycuan’s café is definitely a hidden gem situated next to their beautiful golf course. The café offers a variety of meals on an everyday basis and has special pre-fix menus on occasions such as Christmas and New Years. I’ve dined here with both the standard menu and for special occasions. Most recently, my family came here for Christmas dinner. The pre-fix menu had a good variety of options and we were all able to eat what we pleased minus the headache and mess that usually comes with preparing a holiday meal. I started out with the arugula and fennel salad with oranges. It was light, refreshing and in such a large portion that I had to stop myself from devouring it lest I not be able to enjoy the main course. For dinner I had the prime rib with a horseradish cream and roasted potatoes. My original order came out with the meat a little well done, but when I brought it to waitress’ attention I was quickly given a new piece cooked to perfection. To finish I had the pumpkin crème brûlée, which surprised me with how light it was. Although these items may not always be on the menu, they are a reflection of the wonderful food that is served here every day. From the regular menu, I would highly recommend their hamburger, the fresh fish, crab cakes, salads and chili. The service here is always outstanding and everyone is quite friendly. They also give you some warm, crusty sourdough when you’re seated that makes the trip worthwhile.

We had Christmas dinner here last night with the family. The first courses and deserts were delusions. I highly recommend the pumpkin crème brûlée. Two out of the five dinners were dry and over cooked, but they were quick to correct the problem. We love dinning at Sycuan because their food is delicious, reasonably priced and they have amazing staff.

I’ve been here plenty of times and I love it. Today I had their«All American» breakfast, which is one of my favorites. It comes with your choice of eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns or country potatoes, and toast. It’s a classic breakfast done well. Also, their buffalo chicken drumettes are in my top 5 for wings. I’m generally not a fan of blue cheese, but I love it here — it’s that good.

Great food, we have been coming here for a couple of years now and the food has improved to a level of excellence that surprises me each and everyGreat spot to have dinner and/or drinks. The well stocked lounge will serve full menu. I would give 5 stars but I think they need to upgrade their TVs. Also, bring the lights down in the lounge along with paying attention to the temperature. I guess there is one more thing that is keeping me from a 5 star rating. It always seems I am bothering the wait staff. Mind you it is not that busy, at most 2 – 3 people at bar and a table two of diners. Full disclosure I was brought up in the mid west where people are glad to see ya. Unlike the west coast where everyone keeps a safe distance.

Wow what a surprise, you never need to leave the resort. Breakfast is great, omelet great, breakfast burrito awesome, eggs great, pancakes fantabulous. Lunch was good no matter what you order also. Dinner, oh my god. They start with sourdough bread is to flippin die for. I could have eaten just that. We ordered three different kinds of steaks and they were all awesome. Only note steaks were prepared a little on the rarer side of each way we ordered, so order little more done than you would usually go. Side dishes were all great. Now the kicker, i commented to server how incredible the bread was at end of meal, she brought me out a to go loaf to take back to my room. Malik you are awesome. Will go back even if in area and not staying at resort.

I ordered the chilaquiles and they were not at all what I was expecting or what the menu stated! The waitress was very nice and helped to fix it to the best that she could. The fresh fruit was very good and if we were to go back I would order a whole side of it. My husband had the breakfast sandwich and it was super good! The croissant was amazing and flaky! Lesson learned with my food and I would not say it was a bad experience but I learned my lesson to not try strange menu items at restaurants I have never been to.

Serves warm sourdough bread ! Used fresh blue crab in their appetizer & enjoyed the mushroom gnocci ! The restaurant as part of the Sycuan Resort is a real treat! Their ingredients are of high/good quality. They even have a live band that plays in their outdoor patio at night. The servers do a great job and have a cordial mien to match. Definitely recommend this place for visitors of El Cajon/Sycuan.

I had a very nice lunch at this café after a day of pretending I know how to hit a golf ball correctly. The Café & Grill is located at the golf course. I have been here before for breakfast several times with great results. Today, I had a Avocado BLT sandwich on sourdough with onions rings for $ 10.( ) I also ordered a cup of some Italian soup for $ 3.( ) The BLT was excellent. The plentiful bacon was crispy and had a touch of honey. It had a nice amount of ripe avocado and plenty of fresh lettuce and tomatoes. It was a very good BLT. The onion rings that came with the meal were fantastic!( ) There were huge and crispy. The onions inside of the rings were steaming hot and yummy, The soup was good, but I was a little confused with the name and the actual ingredients. The waitress called it a Italian Beef in a Creamy Tomato base, but the protein was a sausage. It could of been beef but most likely pork. At any rate, the soup was good and filled with pasta and random whole olives. The service was very nice and prompt.
