Another lousy below average Middle Eastern restaurant in El Cajon. Don’t let the name fool you, this is by no means a Greek restaurant. I don’t even think the cooks or the owner know what Greek food is like. I miss Athens.

This restaurant has excellent ethnic Greek food. The Gyro Plate comes with a large Gyro(chicken or beef), side and drink that my husband and I get every time we come here. Our total is less than it would be if we went to Daphne’s and got the same meal. The food is much fresher and there’s more of it. The staff is very nice and pleasant. We come so often the older man who runs the counter at night recognizes us.

Gyro meat excellent; pita fresh & good. Tzatziki not my favorite style, cucumber bits too big and could use more dill… Salad with the gyro plate nice, lots of feta ‘plate’ also comes with pretty good fries, good deal for $ 9.99. Gyro ‘sandwich’ not made as a sandwich, pita quartered and on the side instead of wrapped, hmmm. Excellent price @ $ 4.60 Only wine offered was Muscato or White Zin, but they do have beer as well.

The guy who took our order said he never heard of Unilocal and would not honor the free glass of wine coupon. The food was good but the service was just ok.

I googled«greek food near me» and Opa was only a few blocks away. Wednesday night at 8:30, LOTS of people in the place, eating, talking, playing cards — great laid back atmosphere. I ordered the veggie plate. it was less than $ 8 and(as others have said) there was an abundance of food. Falafel(3) were crisp and just moist enough. Salad was SUPER fresh, crisp, just the right blend of onions, dukes, feta. I even ate some of the tomatoes and i don’t even like tomatoes! The Dolma(3) were also fresh and delicious. Spanakopita was tasty. And pita bread was SUPER soft, moist, fresh, warm, yummy! Next time I will get a side of tzatziki too, none came with the plate and I missed it(hummus came in a very small plastic container, could’ve used a little bit more of that). I only ate a couple of the fries, I was full with all the other stuff! I’m glad to have found this place. I paid with a debit card, so if they used to be cash only, that’s no longer the case.

My spouse and I were initially served delicious Greek salads and all was downhill from that moment. I ordered Fish & Chips at the counter, watched a server dump pre-breaded, frozen tilapia into a fryer basket. Delivered to our table, I took one bite and found the fish totally raw and still ice cold. I must say the outside of the fish was a nice golden crust however. I paid the bill and we departed seek another restaurant. A fairly large dining area was populated with three auto salesmen from a local dealership who were obviously regular customers. They and the wait-staff were focused on flirting with each other for the entire time we spent in the restaurant.

Awesome Mediterranean eatery! Love all their plates, gyros sandwiches, lentil soup, and baklava! Been there since it was the Greek Town Buffet. I just wish they still played greek music like they used to, instead of the tv. But other than that, friendly service and delicious food!

Saturday night at 6pm and the place was empty. You order at the front then wait for your food. Upon ordering I show my Entertainment coupon and am told he doesn’t accept it. If I want to complain he points to a phone number on the wall. As we are deciding what to do, my wife asks if they they won’t take our coupon if they will at least honor the Unilocal offer for a free glass of wine. Nope. Bye now! It a shame, as I used to really like this place under the former name and came frequently without a coupon and thought we’d give it a try. I won’t be back.

Derek and I used to come here when this was a Greek buffet, so my opinion may be clouded by that excellent experience. Anyhow, anybody who knows me knows I like to take a seat and have someone serve me(my like for Greek buffets notwithstanding). Unfortunately this is an order-at-the-counter place. When I was only a couple of feet from the cashier, she started talking to her male friend, who was seated at a nearby table. I had to wait for them to finish, but she was pleasant enough after that. The gyros was tasty. However, I’ve been told that authentic Greek salad doesn’t include lettuce. My salad did, so I can’t say the food is authentic(especially considering the Opa Burger on the menu). If you want to experience mall food park Greek food without the hassle of going to the mall, this place is for you. Otherwise, I know you get can better Mediterranean food within a few blocks of here.

The food at this place is amazing and especially for the price. I have had the lamb gyro which was great to say the least it was well balanced between the meat, sauce, and veggies. I have also ordered the burger and fries combo which for $ 4 is a good deal. Burger is huge and taste fresh and the fries well I could eat them all day they are great. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because when we call to order the person that answers the phone couldn’t take the order properly the save her life it took quite a bit of repeat g myself for it to finally get through. In no way is that a bad reflection on them just maybe fond someone a little more brushed up on communication skills to answer the phone. I will Def recommend anyone curious to try this place you will not be disappointed.

My daughter and I have been craving Greek food for the past week, and after reading several reviews on Unilocal decided to give Opa a try. It is a Friday at lunchtime and when we walk in it is clear that the entire restaurant is setting up for a private event. We are told that they are open for carry out, but we ask if we can be seated on their patio and we were graciously accommodated. My daughter ordered the gyro plate and I ordered the kebab plate, both were served with soup. The soup was excellent, rich, creamy and filling(thank god it was only a cup!) Both the gyro and kebab plate were delicious! The salad was fresh with an excellent vinaigrette dressing(on the side). The gyro meat was melt in your mouth good and the kebabs(2 chicken, 1 beef) were of decent size and incredibly flavourful! The rice(served with the kebabs) and the seasoned fries(with the gyro plate) were also very good. OMG, I almost forgot the pita bread! I didn’t have a chance to ask if it was made on site, but it was, without a doubt, the best pita bread I have ever had at a stateside restaurant! Our server was efficient and friendly. I realise that it was an off day for the restaurant and staff, given that the entire restaurant was booked for a private event, but I am grateful that we were accommodated and am looking forward to returning to Opa. Really want to try their saganaki!

Very good restaurant. I’ve been to opas probably 5 or 6 times and every time I go the food is really good. My biggest complaint with most geek restaurants is that portions are usually small. That’s not the case with this place, opas hooks it up plus good prices too. I usually get the Greek salad with gyro meat and a gyro sandwich, alot of food for the price. The lobby is always clean, staff is friendly. It’s my go to Greek restaurant in el cajon.

I ate here today and I am now a big fan. Their gyro is perfect and what a good price. The price is almost half the price of the gyro from Greek Chicken on Graves street. This is our new gyro spot. The service is excellent and I love the way the restaurant is decorated. This place is nice.
