Very pleasant staff and very helpful. Authentic Puerto Rican, Spanish food. Hard to find in the area. High in carbohydrates not the healthiest… not to mention deep fried. Saying all this … I will return. My biggest hesitation in recommending this restaurant is the lack of vegetables. Some of us eat vegetables.

As I wondered around town on a beautiful day waiting for some auto repairs to be completed I smelled a smell that instantly brought back to Puerto Rico. I meandered off of main street(Philadelphia Ave) into a residential block. Disappointed now thinking it’s someone’s home cooking and about to turn around I noticed a small sign protruding from what looks like one of the houses. Pepes. Very unassuming. Very bare. A few tables, a few beverage fridges and small display case filled with wonderful Spanish delicacies. Some Americanized for those that are not to adventurous. Behind that a trio of smiling, welcoming staff members ready to answer all of my/your questions. I kept it simple with spicy chicken empanatas(spelling?) And some rice and beans. Everything was great. Authentic and full of flavor. Priced well below the amount of love poured into these classics. My beverages(one with lunch and one for the walk) were more than my food and not over priced themselves as soda goes these days. Sorry for rambling. I don’t usually even write reviews but I am inspired and impressed.

There isn’t many authentic spanish/puerto rican style eateries in the area, so it was very refreshing to find this place. Best home made food in the area! Try once and you will be hooked!

Not a whole lot to choose from, no menu. Service is usually pretty good when its not busy. Empanadas are the key highlight to this place.

I’ve been to Pepe’s a bunch of times in the last few months and it’s been my go to secret lunch spot when I’m blowing through the Whitehorse Pk. corridor of EHC. I say secret because it’s a small unassuming location a few blocks off the pike on Cincinnati Ave. I was tipped off by my mother in law about the place. She’s on the other side of EHC but gets take out regularly. The daily selection of empanadas is consistent. Those being spicy chicken, chicken, chicken w/cheese, beef, pork, pizza(?) and cheesesteak. The spicy chicken is very good and the size is about the size of an 8″ tortilla folded over. The rice & beans are also a solid must order. It’s places like this that are the gems of the neighborhood in EHC. I hope to see the day when Philadelphia Ave. can be developed and EHC finally gets it’s act together. Talk is cheap EHC… Make it happen. You must have Main St. envy with the success of Hammonton’s revitalization. Until then… it’s off the beaten path to Pepe’s I go!

YES!!! I love Pepe’s. Best rice & beans I’ve ever had in my entire life. It just smells incredible and it tastes even better. Delicious empanadas also; my favorite is the spicy chicken. I don’t even think this place has a menu; just come in and ask what they’re cooking! It’s literally a hole in the wall; there’s about 4 small tables and you can clearly see the kitchen, which I like. The guy who owns and runs it is always in there and he’s such a great guy. It really does not get more authentic than Pepe’s. Also you cannot beat his prices– last time I went in I got a large order of rice & beans, a spicy chicken empanada and a beef empanada, and my total was around $ 7.
