I went for a wine tasting and it was way better than I expected. The staff is extreme knowledgable in the wines and made fantastic suggestions. Each wine I tasted went down smoothly and had a wonderful taste. The environment is warm and inviting and is perched on a gorgeous piece of property. I wil be returning next time I an in town!

Nice setting, good wines. My girl(Nicole?) very polite and helpful. They serve flatbreads and pizza(I wish I knew beforehand). Good experience.

Absolutely LOVE this winery. A very down to earth, homey place. The wines are delicious, but not too expensive, but the atmosphere is the best part. Beautiful establishment, even has a regular bar as well for those who aren’t super into wine! Wonderful experience, so glad Effingham has such a gem.

Love this place. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon. They just recently started serving food and I can’t wait to try it on my next visit. My favorite wine is their old vine barbera(might have said it wrong). I could drink bottles and bottles of this stuff.

We took a day trip to Effingham to visit this winery. The weather was overcast and started to rain, but the covered seating outside still allowed us to enjoy the scenery. We thought the service was excellent, as was the wine. When we looked at their calendar of events, we definitely discussed plans to return on a Friday night when we could hear music.

Talked to the owners(mother and the daughter) several times about having an event here and each owner had their own stipulations and requirements, very confusing. Aside from that, when the place is busy it is so loud you can’t hear the person next to you. Customer service is hit and miss. The place feels more like it’s ran as a party place for staff and owner’s family and friends then a place I’d want to gather with friends for a drink.

This is a nice looking winery, but I wasn’t impressed with the service, it was awkward. There were two people behind the counter; the guy was ok, but the women completely lacked personality and made the experience boring and uneventful. She was counting the number of people in our party(5) out loud, and acted apprehensive the entire time. Neither of the people behind the counter know the appropriate order for serving wine. The girl started our tasting, but they tag-teamed and on with our pours(not an abnormal procedure). They started pouring red before white. Then they started this awkward pattern of switching between red and white, flipping our tasting paper back and forth to see which wine was next in their odd pour sequence. They cited the sweetness, but… no. Not really a big deal, but irritating. Aside from the above, the wine was not that good. Won’t recommend or return.

The customer service here really needs to be reexamined. My husband, who plays piano professionally, asked if he could try out their grand piano. The gal behind the counter said sure, and less than 30 seconds into the song, someone else turned up the volume on the piped in music so loud that it drowned out the piano. Really? If you didn’t want him to play, just say so. The people down the road and Vahling really liked it… The other gal behind the counter was extremely accommodating to my brother in law and ignored his wife as far as the tasting process was concerned. His purchased glass of wine was ¾ full, and she barely got a third. When she commented on it, she was told the glass ‘wasn’t supposed to be full’. Overall, the attitude here was snobbish, and I also felt that the people there could care less about the patrons. There is nothing more fun than to chat with folks and enjoy a good glass of wine. While the setting was gorgeous and the wine tasty, the attitudes and customer service would keep me from ever going there again.

Our 35th reunion was held here, the rates were reasonable, and the wine list was excellent. The winery has a deposit of $ 3 per glass, and if you decide to keep the glasses, it is added to your bill. The staff is friendly, and will assist you with the good selection of up-scale beers and ales if you aren’t a wine drinker. Note, the beers and ales are bottled only, no draft. My wife and I sampled the wine list, and left with 4 bottles of red and white. The inside was well decorated, and has only been open since July of 2011, there were a number of small parties that would stop in, have a glass or two of wine, obviously a place that the local crowd is familiar with and enjoys. We plan on having our next reunion here as well, and the folks from my class that live in the area plan on visiting more often too. The only big issue is then GPS took us almost to the door, but the turn into the driveway has a sign, but it is not well lit.
