Went there for the first time for lunch and ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. I was immediately dissatisfied with the quality the moment I opened the take-out box. The appearance was more Chicken Kung Pao Soup than the standard dish. The entire entrée was swimming in sauce very reminiscent of sweet and sour sauce. It was not spicy and very much missing the standard red chillies and the actual pieces of chicken were minimal. But honestly, I wouldn’t have minded the lack of actual chicken if it wasn’t for the awful amount of sauce…

Fantastic teriyaki, we crave it when we leave town. Good quality and portions, quick service, priced pretty good. Great place to grab a bite before you jump on the ferry.

First time here today and it was awesome! I got chicken teriyaki with fried rice. Sooooo good! And the dressing on the side salad was delightfully sweet my new favorite place!

This place is so good we had to stop going. Great, fast, friendly service. The teriyaki is perfect and quickly became a family favorite! We actually totally still eat here like three times a month. Go. Enjoy it. Yummmm

My boyfriend and I have passed by Toshi’s many times and have talked about trying it for so long. We finally made the move to try Toshi’s on our walk back from the Edmonds farmer’s market. The service was very friendly and their menu had everything on it from pad thai to chicken katsu and fish and chips. My boyfriend and I shared a honey dew bubble smoothie and chicken pad Thai. The honey dew smoothie was really refreshing on such a warm day. They started us off with some sort of soup which we both loved and then came the pad Thai which to our surprise was a heaping portion for the price we paid. The pad Thai came out quickly and and you can tell that the ingredients were definitely fresh. The pad Thai came with two scoops of rice as well and was pleasantly balanced and delicious. This is definitely going to be part of one our go to places for pad thai and bubble smoothies.

I own a business in Downtown Edmonds, I eat at Toshi’s a lot. I love all of the variety. The service is always good and fast and the price is right.

This place is bizarre. You can get teriyaki, Thai, Chinese, various other Japanese dishes like katsu, also burgers and fish and chips… ooookay. We were here because we were in a huge rush to grab something quick and get to the Edmonds Center for the Arts nearby. We asked what they could make the quickest and unfortunately that was teriyaki which I don’t really like to begin with. Oh well. It came with a little salad, two huge piles of rice and a ton of teriyaki that was really salty. So at least you won’t go hungry if you can choke down the salty teriyaki. They were also super quick and very friendly despite the place being full of people(I guess it’s popular) and there being a bunch of other take out orders they were working on.

Toshi’s is a great place if you need a quick bite for a reasonable price. Service is fast with the food coming out before I could even read past the second page of the funnies. Portions are large with plenty for left overs. All in all, this place rocks. It’s one of the few places around Edmonds where you can get a decent meal for under 8 bucks.

Toshi’s is the Teriyaki place of choice for me and my kids in the Edmonds area. Food is excellent and the menu is large, including some Thai choices and burgers. Cost is also reasonable and they have a loyalty punch card for regulars. Place is no frills, down to earth and I like that. It’s clean and maintained that way during operation. There’s a few parking spaces behind the restaurant if you drive down the alley in addition to street parking. One star off since I’ve arrived at about 5pm on a couple of Sundays during the summer and found it closed despite hours stating otherwise(see photo)

I love Toshi’s. Love the chicken teriyaki, but I order hamburgers here too. They have been very good. I usually call in an order so I can pick it up. I like the owners, managers etc very very nice. Yes, I’ll eat there again and again. I think there Teriyaki Chicken is cheap in price.

Pleasant Surprise! We tried the chicken teriyaki and it was great! For me, two things make teriyaki great: 1. the sauce and 2. the grilling of the chicken. Toshi’s in Edmonds has a really good sauce and they did a great job giving the chicken that grilled flavor. As far as teriyaki goes, this was about as good as it gets – 5 stars. We will definitely be going back!

Living in Edmonds I finally gave Toshis a try. The restraunt is not much to look at small and cramped. But found something I could eat since I am a vegetarian and ordered spicy vegetable yaki soba. I took it home and on opening up the container I asked where were the vegetables. A little cabbage and a few small slices of carrots but that was it and for 7.98 a total rip for some cheap spicy noodles. Well one time is enough so if ever in Edmonds please walk on by for there are many good places to eat and Toshis is not one of them.

On the minus side, the place is kind of a dump. I’ve been to several of the Toshi’s Teriyaki locations, and this is the least impressive of the lot. The floors have a combination of wax and grime buildup, and it looks like the last time the back room got a thorough cleaning was about a decade ago. Seating is somewhat limited,. They do have a bathroom, but you need to ask because you have to go thru the kitchen area to get to it, On the plus side the food is reasonably good. My wife got the fish and chips, and the french fries were pretty darned good. The fish was OK. I got the chicken teriyaki which was OK. It arrived with a pile of mixed greens on the plate. Probably would have been tastier with some dressing, but probably healthier without. Downtown Edmonds gets busy on a Saturday at noon, and Toshi’s was one of the few places we could find a readily available table, but it took a long time to get served. The people at the next table asked to have theirs to converted to a to-go order because it took so long for their food to arrive. Meanwhile there was a constant stream of people picking up the orders they had called in, so it seems that the take-out crowd gets priority.

We just ate four different plates of food. Thai for my wife and I, teriyaki for one son and chicken strips for another. Huge portions. Great tasting food. We took food home for later. I enjoyed my dining experience and would eat there again.

I’ve been eating Toshi’s for years at other locations, but the Edmonds restaurant is pretty bad. The Kung Pao was like eating — if it’s even possible — french fried toy soldiers. Just avoid this place, period.

Tour of Teriyaki — stop #3… Not much to look at… a bit expensive(probably due to its downtown location), which keeps it from earing 5 stars, but it’s got great chicken teriyaki. Not too salty, not too saucy… just right. Will keep searching, but this is a contender for winning my endless teriyaki love.

So my hubby loved his spicy teriyaki so much that we went back for more today! I got the teriyaki burger($ 4.69) which was pretty good but my bun got soggy from the teriyaki sauce. I need to update my pricing. The regular chicken teriyaki is $ 6.59 and the spicy is $ 7.29 so the difference is only .70(not the 1.50 I thought it was). And way worth the extra 70 cents too! There are lunch specials from 11 – 2 M-F where you can get regular chicken teriyaki and 3 pcs Gyoza or 1 pc eggroll for $ 5.99 too. Various teriyaki dishes, Chinese, stir fry, thai, yakisoba, and burgers. Various juices, pops, waters, drinks in a self-service refrigerator. The place was really hopping today too. Was it my Unilocal review?! One can only wonder ;)

Except for a Quiznos(yuck!), Toshi’s is the only proper quick service restaurant in downtown Edmonds(right? Or am I missing one?). It’s a serviceable enough teriyaki place — nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing awful either. They also serve a handful of American items like burgers and whatnot. And as with everything in the bowl, the prices are a little higher than you’d find elsewhere, especially when they don’t follow what’s on the board. I tried to order a chicken and beef combo and I wanted the chicken«spicy» — the best way to get their chicken. It clearly says on the menu that to have any item made«spicy» it’ll cost 50 cents. So she rang up my order and it was $ 10.79 instead of the anticipated $ 8.50 or so. When I asked her why it was so much more expensive she told me that they’d have to do a bunch more work to make it spicy and so on and so forth. I pointed to the menu to where it said it would only be 50 cents more and I got the same explanation. So I told her no spicy and I got the dirtiest look and an exasperated sigh. Typically the service has been OK, so hopefully chalk this up to a bad day, but when combined with average at best teriyaki that made me feel full and gross the rest of the day, I don’t know if I can give them three stars. It’s more like a 2.5 and another case of being disappointed with the mediocrity of the food in downtown Edmonds.
