The potted plant milk tea is unique. Food is average.

Found and came to this place because of the popular plant bubble tea drink. Ended up ordering and eating too much great food that I was too full to get the bubble tea! Ordered two cold small dishes, the seaweed salad and the cucumbers. Both were pre made and not fresh. Would not recommend it. The Tainan noodles were okay but nothing special. My favorite dishes and the dishes that made my meal was the crispy chicken with lemon sauce and the minced pork with chives. The chicken sauce was a perfect blend of sour, sweet and spicy and the minced pork with chives was really spicy but delicious! Overall a great Taiwanese food place! Sad I didn’t get to try the bubble tea though, next time!

Looking for Chai is a clean, stylish space in the 99 Ranch strip mall. There is a bit of whimsy here that makes it fun, but some of it may cross the line of American sensibilities. A fun menu item is the Chocolate Cookie Milk Tea. It looks like a cup of dirt, and its very good. It would be even better if they didn’t use non-dairy creamer. The bathroom signs are bathroom humor thats over the line. Two of us shared a Mini Hotpot and Popcorn Chicken. It was enough to fill us up, but we are not big eaters. The Hotpot that we got was Pork and Pickled Napa. We added some chile sauce and it was delicious. The pork was a few thin strips of great tasting pork belly. You may want to add extra protein because it is mostly napa. We loved the napa. We wished the Popcorn Chicken was crispier. It was a satisfying, fun meal and we’ll be back for more.

I came here on a December weekday during the holiday break and it was full! A table to Taiwanese-speaking aunties and uncles were there and took up about one third of the restaurant, so I knew it must be legit! it was a cold day so I ordered the beef noodle soup. it was pretty good. I will have to come back to try other menu items. And maybe my Taiwanese parents will finally have a restaurant here in the Seattle area that they actually look forward to visiting!

Dare I say this place is better than Facing East in Bellevue? Let’s put it this way, we live in Kirkland and have been to Looking for Chai three times in three weeks. I personally think the food is better, esp the popcorn chicken, pork bun, and beef noodle soup. Their milk teas are also very delicious. I usually go for the Hokkaido one! No lines when we’ve gone during week nights. Hurry before the line starts forming and starts looking like Facing East!

YUM! Great food! They have a huge authentic Taiwanese menu. I tried their hot pot and a rice dish. For my rice dish, instead of the lamb, I substituted with beef and three sauce.(the dish is called Lamb with three sauce but may switch with beef-just ask) Btw, their menu can be a little confusing but don’t be shy to ask bcs they’re not shy to tell you the wrong answer either in some cases. Ask away and they’d still smile and be so grateful you showed up. So, they serve hot pots and ten million other stuff. Their Oolong tea is awesome! Fast service, super clean, modernly decorated, staff is pleasant and very attentive. And…guess what? They also have their own settings for small kids. Yey! How awesome! I’ve never seen that before. I was glad I checked it out. And wut??? It’s in Edmonds! That’s what’s up! Definitely need to go back and try more stuff.

Their beef noodle soup is legit! I love that they provide a dish of green onions and mustard greens to add to your soup. I’ve always had a taste of their cookie milk tea, and although it was rich, it was delicious! I’ll order that next time. Their popcorn chicken was pretty tasty as well, great peppery batter. My only complaint was that the pieces took two bites instead of one. Huge portion for around $ 5 though. Love discovering a new Taiwanese joint with parking!

Truly Taiwanese food. Reasonable priced, authentic food, not bad service, nice smells, clean. I would recommend to visit this place at least once.

Awesome mini hotpot and great drinks! I love the pudding red bean drink! Perfect portion for evening, you won’t feel too full! They have plenty of snacks to choose from, too.

I keep coming back here because I really really like the chocolate cookie milk tea. Don’t ever go right when they open though expecting them to have boba because they won’t. You have to wait 20 or 30 minutes after opening to get boba.

Was so excited to finally be able to come here ! I had the mini beef hot pot and it was just ok for the price… In my opinion boiling points soup is much better. The pork bun was reeeeeally good and very flavorful and also cheap — 2 for $ 4.95 My favourite thing was the cookie milk tea ~ I usually prefer more fruity teas but this was super tasty and not too sweet or salty(?) as other reviews had mentioned . The service and location were both good and the place is actually pretty roomy. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend !

That drink is worth the hype. The cookie crumbs are reminiscent of the Dairy Queen ice cream cake dark cookie layer if it was laser cut into fine crumbles. So good, and worth the drive from Anywhere, USA. Oh, and they serve food, I think of the Taiwanese variety too.

I went here a month ago with my friends and ordered popcorn chicken with no stars(I can’t eat spicy foods, if you want to know why) and hokkaido milk tea. Both tasted good! The popcorn chicken is crispy and not oily, perfect! I like the hokkaido milk tea as well. It is actually just the same milk tea we know but somehow it’s more creamy. And I’m writing this review while craving for milk tea. Okay, I need to go back ASAP.

New found love for Taiwanese food! Came here with a group of friends and we shared family style because it was the best way to taste everything. We got Taiwanese pork burgers, crispy chicken with special spicy sauce, sweet and sour short ribs, the seasonal vegetable stir fry, fried rice, and the beef noodle soup. All were really really good and my favorite was the crispy chicken because it was spicy and seasoned so well. The noodles were ok, you can definitely taste the Chinese 5 spice. The milk tea came in this huge mug it was so bomb and I got the one where they put grass jelly, pudding, and boba in it. I love a place with good milk tea.

Ok my last hot pot wasn’t that flavor full but this time I got the beef satay and it was bomb and so was everything we ordered. Also the bubble tea here is super sweet but it is really good.

I came here for some dessert(yep, bbt counts as dessert) after having dinner next door and didn’t realize this is the place with the«plant drink!» So I of course had to get it — the chocolate cookie milk tea. My sister got the house special bbt. After placing our order, we were told it’d take ten minutes. Not a big deal since there’s only one person who makes/shakes the drinks, but just something to note — don’t expect a quick in and out drink. The chocolate cookie milk tea is obviously very cute. They sprinkle chocolate cookie crumbs and stick a leaf on top so it looks like a potted plant :) The name is deceiving though — it’s really just a small bit of powdered chocolate cookie on the drink, not actually a chocolate cookie flavored milk tea. The milk tea just tastes like a regular black milk tea or maybe house special, but with a layer or cream on top. SORICH. I had the drink for hours and still couldn’t finish :/Anyway, not sure I would get this again(maybe w/o the cream), just had to get it once since I was already there. My sister enjoyed her house special bbt. I took a sip and liked it too. The tapioca wasn’t bad either, tasted slightly sweet so maybe it’s honey boba? Not sure. I’ll be back if I’m in the area and craving something sweet :)

I saw a lot of posting on Instagram on this place so I just had to make the long drive to check this place out. There’s not that much taiwanese restaurant around here and I was tired of going to the same one and when I found this place I was excited. The drink I got look so cute I didn’t even wanna drink it. It looked like a pot of plant. Hehehe. The workers were really nice and the service was fast. I also order popcorn chicken and they use chicken breast for it and I was really surprised how juicy the meat was inside cause usually chicken breast are dry.

Came in on a Sunday around 3 or 4. We were promptly seated. We ordered pig ears, braised pork over rice and a small hot pot(Forgot which one) and some drinks. The pig ears were nice and gelatinous. It had sesame oil and probably chili oil which made it slightly spicy. The braised pork could have easily melted in my mouth, it was super tender. The sauce from the braised pork made the rice below it even better. I hate eating plain white rice. The mini hot pot had a really good soup base; very flavorful. The drinks actually took longer come out than the food but honestly when you’re hungry that’s what you want to happen anyways. I believe I got the milk tea with grass jelly. It was pretty big and it wasn’t too sweet either. This is the second time I’ve come here, the first time was specifically for their drinks.

I absolutely love their cookie milk tea drink! It’s probably the only reason why I come here and I got my friends hooked on it too. It’s a milk tea with a layer of creamer, cookie crumb/powder and a mint leaf to top it off. So adorable! It almost looks like a plant and you can order it hot or cold. Make sure to ask for boba/tapioca because they won’t add it if you don’t ask. The wait just for a drink sometimes is a bit long, but worth it. I haven’t tried much of their food here. The portions are very small compared to the prices and pretty mediocre.
