I gave it a try but it was just ok and not going to order again from them. I ordered two veg thali from them but nothing was tasty. Naan wasn’t at all like naan. All other items were just ok. The only positive points are– quantity was enough and food was fresh. Staff was polite. But for food I give it only 2 out of 5.

Notoriously slow delivery and when they forget things on your order, they just tell you that they will bring it next time.

Well, food was ok types! While being in edison, you don’t expect ok but that’s how it was. Online delivery options are minimal in here and the ones which deliver are either disasters or just ok. I ordered chole bhature which was ok except chole was not cooked properly. Malai Kofta too was bit gooey inside as this too was not cooked properly. Naan was ok and pickle too.

Placed an order via Unilocal that went through with a delivery charge of $ 9. 1 hour later they cancel the order saying they don’t deliver in that area. Way to ruin someone’s dinner. Disappointing experience.

I have to agree with JEFFT’s review that it is one of the underrated Indian restaurant. We want in for a Sunday night dinner with my family the restaurant had two tables full rest was empty, they kept the same décor from the five guys restaurant and put the fryer and prep area in the front and main kitchen in the back. The food was nice and spicy with good flavor. The only complaint I have(if they read these review) please put some napkin holders, salt and pepper shaker on each table, get some plastic cutlery, bowls and glass and put it in the corner table where they have soda machine which is out of order. Please remove the out of order soda vending if not please turn it on its a big turnoff for the guests who come there to eat. As I said food was good and fresh they gave enough rice to eat with it. We had chicken 65, chicken tikka for app. For main we had dal, sahi paneer and chicken tikka masala and naan which came with rice. I forgot that prices are much lower then other Indian restaurant in the area our bill came to around 65.

The food is usually good, but the service is terrible, especially for delivery. The last 2 times I ordered for delivery they delivered well past the estimated time. This time(today) they still have not delivered 2 hours after the original estimated delivery. Every time I have spoken with the restaurant they say«15 minutes.» Needless to say, I don’t believe them, 2 hours late

I was picking up some stuff at TJ Maxx next door and was craving some Indian food. I thought about giving this new place a try. I ordered my usual malai kofta. I got the food to go and was really excited that I found an Indian that stays open past midnight and delivers to where I live. The food was terrible :(They had 2 dry golf sized kofta balls in a bowl full of oily gravy for $ 9.95. I wanted to call and demand my $$ back instead I laughed and said they lost a good customer. How cheap can you get to give 2 kofta balls in a dinner portion!!! I would save your $$ and go just a mile or two away to Spice zone where the food is amazing and the malai kofta is made the way you eat it in India. Honestly I hate that anyone these days think they can open up and Indian restaurant. If they don’t change the quality of their food and their chef soon, unfortunately they won’t stay open for too long.

This has to be the most underrated Indian cuisine in the area, I can care less about their décor I would much rather see them in there than the awful 5guys that was there beforehand. 5guys was a complete waste of space. However I’ve gone in there so many times and food has been great every time, I know there are other Indian restaurants in Edison but this one is right up there with the best. The prices are also very very reasonable and the amount of food I walk out of there with for $ 40 is crazy. What’s even better is the food tastes above and beyond what u would expect. I always get the deconstructed samosa appetizer(chaat) and tikka masala everything whether chicken or paneer. I get naan and a dessert half the time too. All great quality. I am very surprised at the bad reviews about them even though there are not that many, however I am close enough that I pick up my food so I will never have that issue with my food being delivered.

Ordered the tikka masala and mutton biryani. The tikka wasn’t the most delicious I’ve ever had but the spice levels were in point. Finally a place who’s hot is actually hot

We ordered lassi, aaloo papdi chat and vada. Thought the presentation was ok, the food tasted real bad. Aloo papdi chat was not really made with papdi, it was more of save. It’s was not nicely covered with curd and chatni but still it was bearable. Vada tasted full of old oil and no sambhar with vada. Salted lassi was so bad that we couldn’t take even 2 sip. It was not at all like lassi. Would not go back to this place.

After my 3rd time getting delivery from them, I now raise them to 5 stars. The flavors are WONDERFULLY right on point. Everything was modified just as I had requested. I truly hope they stay around because I look forward to ordering delivery from them again in the future. EXCELLENTJOB!!!

Came across this place on the way back from the gym. Asked the fellow at the register how long they had been there and he said«since May»…sheesh has it been that long since I went to the gym?! Anyway — was headed for the Chinese place 2 doors down(China Star) but thought I’d order an easy dish just to see how they were at Shivaji. I ordered the jalapeño naan and fried tilapia. I don’t normally like fried tilapia but wanted to see what Indian spices would do for it. Turns out it was pretty decent. It thought it was going to come on a bed of rice but it was just the fried tilapia w/some chopped yellow(or white… not good w/recognizing diff kinds) onions & a lemon wedge on the side. It seems everything was made fresh as I did have to wait approx 10 – 15 min but I’d rather wait for fresh food than leave quickly w/stale food. This was my 1st but I would stop in again. There are a few other Indian spots on the way home from the gym but this is good enough to throw into the rotation.

Forget the ambience. Food was good and big portion. Special Bryani was flavorful and other food was good too. They open till later than others in the area which is a relief for me! It seems like a family owned restaurant and hope they get going for a long time.

We waited for our food to be cooked for about 45 minutes. I’m not sure what the express in their name represents. The food itself was mediocre. Edison having so many options for Indian food I’m not sure how they going to last. I was very disappointed because they so close to our house.

Brand new Indian place where the 5 Guys used to be. I’m glad it’s here! Really enjoyed the chicken korma, a little light on the chicken, but the sauce was delicious, as was the basmati. I asked for«spicy» and they actually made it spicy! The garlic naan was also delicious and very fresh. Most dishes are around 7.99 so the price is right! The dining room is kind of odd because, as I mentioned, it used to be a 5 Guys. Next time maybe I’ll try a vegetarian item.

Giving this one star because I’m guessing all the five star reviews were planted. Do not order delivery. We waited more than an hour and a half, and the delivery guy(who had GPS) called to ask for directions when he was not even in the neighborhood. Then he still took another half hour. The lassi was warm, the naan was tasteless and rock hard, and the dessert was missing. Not going back. There are too many better choices in the area.

Randomly stumbled upon this place(was it a five guys in a former life?) for a late lunch/early dinner. We had the buffet which at 4pm is normally not a good move. But the food was delicious. The rice was hard but it was 4:00 and from the buffet so that’s to be expected. But the food was amazing. Spicy and flavorful like my South Indian mother makes it. And the goat curry was yummy! The idlis were soft and moist! The naan, which was fresh, was buttery and soft and crispy. The staff was friendly and the owner came and asked how everything was. He even let my kids put minecraft you tube on. So it’s yummy fast food South Indian food. And my kids can’t wait to come back.
