Only masala Dosa was good, that too, had only one variety of chutney. Medu Vada was not as good as Saravana Bhavan quality. Pongal not good. This is not anywhere near actual Saravana Bhavan quality. Do not go to this place.

This not the same old saravana bhavan. Quality is poor. Went twice in recent times and got very upset on the food quality. Never again.

A+++ Will eat here again. Seriously, these guys know South Indian cuisine in and out, and it’s the best I have had in the states.

Found a hair in the dosa mixed with the batter. Disgusting… They replaced the dish but didnt even have the courtesy to offer a refund for that dish.

I went for dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant is huge with lots of tables. Service is fast and that’s why the tendency to make errors(details below): Here’s what I ordered: 1) Onion Rava dosa — outstanding. Chutneys and sambar which accompanied were very good. 2) Bisi bela bath — I think this is the best dish on the menu. Very flavorful. 3) Mini idlis — very good. 4) Idli and Wada combo — I ordered this to-go. They forgot to pack sambar and chutney with it. There was only idli and wada in the box. I’d travelled from Pennsylvania, so I was long way from the restaurant when I found out the missing items. This is the reason I took off one star from the review. 5) Chana bhature — this dish was just ok. I felt that the chana was the canned chana which had been mixed with the gravy. Maybe not. I’ve eaten better.

Ok Food — not much selection for north indian food lovers. Horrible Horrible Service and the manager is just obnoxious. We went in on recommendation from a south indian friend. We were a party of 9 — some members of the party were elderly and kids and it took them few minutes(no more than 5 minutes) to join us on table. In the mean time we keep getting hassled by Server and the worst was the Manager. Conversation went like this Manager: where is the rest of your party? Me: They are coming. Manager: Where are they coming from the AIRPORT? At that point I should have walked out, but I just chalk it to fact that he is just a rude obnoxious person, so I ignored this statement. Soon when everyone was on table, my kids who are born and raised here did not find any selection for then to order. I am a south indian food fanatic, so I hung in there. Our order came in 10 – 15 minutes — I am okay with that. We had also ordered filter coffee. Server checked with me, if he should bring out the coffee while I was having my Dosa — and I asked him please go ahead — as my rest of the party was eager to get out of there. Long story short — the server forgot about the coffee, and instead brought the bill for us to pay, which included the coffee. We waited for 10 minutes just to get attention from the server and finally got the coffee. We walked out disgusted, will never be back again. If I see the manager on road, I might think of running him down. He was just obnoxious, wonder why he got a job as manager, must be a relative. Before we left we saw him fighting with another customer too.

Went here last night. Doesnt look very spacious from outside but it actually is. We ordered medhu vada, special thali, chana bhatura and parotta, with buttermilk. Buttermilk was good. Medhu vada was really good. So was channa bhatura. Had parotta for the first time and liked it. Thali was a disappointment for me, but my friend like it. She has had thali before too, I don’t opt for thalis when eating south Indian food. All in all, a good experience. Seating was quick, with little wait. Food was good, service was good, friendly staff. Oh, and don’t forget to have some Paan on your way out! ;) paan was tasty too!

Have been here a few times for lunch on a weekend. It usually gets packed very fast. We usually order a south Indian thali or dosas. Food is mediocre, but I may be biased because I am a south Indian and I know good southie food! Food is usually cold by the time it is served and it takes a while. Also the coffee is a total disappointment. They need to up their standards!

The parathas the worst I had. Not authentic sarvana!!! Don’t waste money here. Idlies were not so fresh. Chutneys were not fresh as expected.

I visited this place because one of friend suggested Good things — fast service Food — below average We ordered biryani and they served vegetable pulav which was not up to the taste Tried curd vada — curd was very sour and the top up with some ready made chutney which was pathetic Masala Dosa — has no masala just boiled potatoes Expensive place and South Indian food without spice and taste

Is this saravana bhavan??? Worst food!!! Waste of money and time. Why pay to spoil your mood and health? I took my mom, wife and kids for lunch today –absolutely disappointing! We felt fooled and cheated by the brand name. Please don’t waste your money and time — on top of it your health here! Thanks!

Better than the smaller version in NYC. Good breakfast and the scene changes to a crowded locality during lunch and dinner. Advice: go for breakfast if you are sick of crowded restaurants. Service was prompt and ordered Masala dosa which contained a miniscule amount of Masala. This is pricey to the core!

Only the Filter Coffee is good here. The service is disgusting even though its a big brand all over the world. We ordered Idli, Vada, Rava Khichdi and Masala Vada. The idli was not too good. The vada was not at all fresh. Sambhar was below standards! The Rava Khichdi was okay. After waiting for 30mins we were informed that Masala Vada is not available. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Coffee is excellent. Real taste of a south Indian coffee. Pongal was thoroughly disappointing with the likely quality of the ghee being used not that high Sambhar was the ultimate dampener to state the least. And the coconut chutneys could distinctly make out with the fact that the quality of the shredded coconut used isn’t that great. The onion and tomato chutney is good. Paan is also good but pretty expensive at close to a $ 2 a piece. Ambience is good. Seating spaces are comfortable. Those are the only pluses. Would think about ordering any fried items. Guess the oil used for frying is either drained and reused or Dow right older one.

Kuppai! Romba rules Elam pesuvanga. Very unfriendly with customers. The audacity of being the only southIndian food is too much on these buggers! Deserves ZERO! Shitty attitude!

Worst service… they serve sweat along with food, no matter you complain, they won’t accept it and serve you clean food. Our server said he is not our personal butler to serve clean food!!!

We went there on a monday at 230pm d a line waitin g at the door. Shocked. maybe it was a long weekend monday that is why Found a table close to door abd we asked the waiter/seater to move since it was cold so he did and. the mgr.came running shouting at him abd why he changed the table blah blah… deducting one star for that. The food was pretty good. I ordered a special thali that. came with rice, sweet and 3 differebt curries/vegetables and only one chapati/roti. Everyrhing tasted good but how much can u do with one chapati that is one bite of each curry and done and now move to rice. Good thing we were trying multiple stops for lunch Ither things we ordered was mendu vada, mysore dosa and rava dosa… all were pretty good. Sambhar was good too but cold. cant understand how its colf with full rest. But oh well it was. Overall we though the experience was a alright Even with good food yelling and cold sambha(which any indian know is undrinkable when cold) kinda ruined the mood

Delicious food. Got the Mysore masala dosa, thali and another dish which name I can’t remember but it was like a veggie and chickpea pancake– sooooo good! I would highly recommend this place :) great food, and it’s cool seeing the giant kitchen through the windows.

Death, taxes, and reasonably decent South Indian fare@Saravana Bhavan used to be the only certainties in life. Not any more! Hard to explain but the serving on this day was slow and almost every dish we ordered was sub-par. We ordered simple staple dishes of Masala Dosa(rice crepes with sauteed potatoes and onions), Idlis(fermented rice + lentil batter based steam cooked cakes), Vada Sambar(a deep fried lentil batter preparation served with spicy lentil based vegetable stew), Parathas(a shallow fried wheat-flour dough preparation), and Dahi Vadas(a deep fried lentil preparation served with yogurt). Dosa was greasy and overcooked, both the vadas were hard and lumpy, idlis were also very hard, and the serving was surprising slow. However, the potato mix was savory and the sambar was spicy and yummy. On a good day in the past, you could count on this place for a no-frill atmosphere but with authentic food that is quiet close to what one can have in a traditional South Indian home. Ambiance is not the focus here — actually it is not even out of focus here. It’s sole purpose is to give expats a true taste of home. Unfortunately, it failed to do so, at least on this day.
