the guy who works here seems very nice and helpful but the girl doesn’t know whats going on around here… i thought it was a bit pricy, i got the free upgrade to large and still paid $ 5.10 for the drink. The tapioca does not taste right

I am not sure what the hype was all about with bubble tea. I went with a small banana milk tea($ 3.45). It just did not taste like anything to me. The tapioca bubbles were just strange and did nothing for me. I might give it another try given the different types of bubble teas available, but the milk tea was just not good. Will I go back? Possibly.

Very disappointed in this place. The bubbles had zero flavor. And to make it worse, they were clumped in one giant ball of bubbles at the bottom of my cup, I couldn’t even get them up the straw. The drink itself was not good. Got the green apple milk tea and it had a weird, very artificial flavor. Would not recommend.

My experience has been just okay. I have had a problem with consistency. One day you will fall in love with the bubble tea and the other day you will be forced to question your decision. Either there are too many part timers or have a huge turn over hence the inconsistency in the quality of the bubble tea. I have to say that they are very generous with the addition of tapioca. The owner however is a very pleasant person but hey, it’s the product I am interested in and I think the quality keeps fluctuating. If this is rectified they can easily be one of the best bubble tea places in central jersey . A suggestion: maybe they should consider adding a frozen yogurt section during summer! It will definitely be a good investment. I am only giving three stars because of my 7 visits and the quality of tea has been different each time.

This was the worst milk tea that I have ever had. Ordered a large red bean milk tea without pearls a few days ago. It cost $ 4.76. I don’t think there was milk nor tea in this drink. It tasted like water and powder mixed together. Drinks are made with powder and artificial coloring. I hate to waste, but I had to toss the drink. It’s such s shame that I had to write this bad review since the owner was nice. I, unfortunately, have to give this place 1 star for the drink.

Best bubble tea place anywhere. I love bubble tea and I’ve tried many places. This one doesn’t skimp on the flavor. I was going to skip one day to save money but I had car problems and had to wait for a friend. Told the owner about it and he gave me a treat. Never skip this place when you’re in Menlo!

The service here is great and they have samples on the counter to try just in case you wish to try before buying. I ordered the ice mango boba and it was pretty tasty! The boba is the perfect size. The tapioca pearls don’t get stuck on the straw like at some boba places. Next time I’ll try the milk mango boba! Can’t wait!

One of my favorite places to come for bubble tea. I’ve had probably ¾ of the menu and couldn’t pick my favorite if I had to. Even on the busiest days, they’re pretty quick with the orders. They’re also really good with samples! I love this place and honestly go at least twice a week.

I don’t understand the great positive rating for this place. We ordered/shared a taro bubble tea. We got the free large upgrade with the check-in here. The lady that took our order didn’t seem to be able to keep up with the high demand on a Saturday afternoon. They don’t have that automatic shaker giving us and was shaken manually. I don’t think the taro mix was homogenized. It was funny the lid sealer had to be hand cranked as well. I probably not come back here for bubble tea.

Fast and yummy bubble tea. What more can I want? Also, back in high school, the bubble tea here helped me steal a kiss from a girl I liked

As a bubble tea enthusiast I don’t recommend this place. I drove 45 minutes because I heard their tea was awesome. It’s alright. I got the passionfruit green tea which I’m pretty sure was just mango. My boyfriend got peppermint black tea which tasted exactly like mouthwash. Unlike many bubble tea places they did not have soy or almond milk which I was very displeased with being as I’m vegan. The girl taking our order was pleasant but it was clear her co-worker would have rather been spooning her eyeballs out than working there. The cups they have are cute though, koalas in trees.

The worker taking our order was really friendly and the boba taste was a little different to me. I’m used to boba drinks from California and this place was using a powder mix and didn’t really come off looking tasty nor sanitary. Worker used a small scooper for the powder and started shaking the cocktail hand mixer right in front of you. My 1st couple sips was trying to figure out if I liked it or not, but ended up just tossing it halfway through. 3 Stars for good service —(2) Weird process of making the boba and the bad after taste left in my mouth

There’s two bubble tea places in Menlo, and actually, they’re within 80 feet of each other. Funny right? Make no mistake, Joy is the better of the two shops. The taro smoothie with boba is super deeelish. I’ve actually only tried that flavor here, but based on many attempts I’ve tasted at various other locations, this one is pretty solid. Flavors are all in powder form. Okay. Didn’t expect them to actually have taro root here, or any other of the flavorings. It’s a sugary desert, people, not a nutritious shake. Go upstairs to Jamba Juice for that. I’m going to go back there today actually and I’m gonna do the red bean flavor I’ve been craving. I do wish they had real beans for it but eh. The small will run you almost 5 bucks, but its worth it.

The bubble is very soft. All the flavors is from the powder~ The tea let me down. Unhealthy …

This place is an awesome spot for bubble tea. I usually get the kiwi smoothie with passion fruit burst bubbles. That even sounds tropical! its made right there and then so it may be a wait but its totally worth it. Make sure you get that card for when you buy 8 get 1 free!

One of the few good places in the area for bubble tea. The prices are a little high for what it is but it’s in the mall and there isn’t a ton of places in the area serving this so it is more of a luxury compared to regular tea/coffee. My favorite is the lychee. Give it a try.

Been here three times and each time it was pretty good. First time– Chocolate smoothie(with boba) — Tasted REALLY good Second time– Lavender milk tea– Pretty good though lavender is an acquired taste to those interested Third time– Green milk tea– Of the three items this one was the best. Very refreshing and good for the summer. There are plenty of flavors and variety to keep things interesting, and the service is pretty good(had the same barista all three times and he’s pretty friendly). Only concern of note is the prices, which are pretty much Starbucks level. If you want to go easy on your wallet I recommend coming once in a while. But if you’re like me and you’re just a big fan of milk bubble tea(or interesting summertime treats), then that might be hard to do. :-) Overall I recommend this place. Good service, each drink I’ve tasted so far was made perfectly fine, and the location is convenient.

Joy Bubble Tea is located near Rainforest Café and the Unisex Barber Shop at Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ. I was walking around the mall and saw this Bubble Tea place and decided to purchase a small Kiwi Slush with Tapioca Pearls. The Kiwi Slush tasted good even if the kiwi was a bit sugary and some of the tapioca pearls were small and hard. The staff was limited and it takes awhile waiting to get your order due to the shortage of staff. The area the place is located would be hard to find. You won’t notice the place is there. I’ll come back sometime because they add more drinks to the menu and I love to drink bubble tea in general. Once you make your purchase, they give you a card. The card states for every 8th purchase, you get 1 free drink!
