Although some of the salespeople on the floor just want to sell furniture, I had a very positive experience this year after finishing a remodel that resulted in needing different furniture. I called to order a 3rd bar stool for my new kitchen; I had purchased two with leather seats from Gabberts several years earlier. Luckily, I was referred to Jane Strom, an experienced designer. Jane subsequently helped me with new dining, living and family room furniture. She was always prepared for our appointments with fabric and style choices and pricing. Jane made sure all the furniture pieces coordinated as I now have an open floor plan. She brought a lot to the table with her many years of experience. We are still in the process, and I know the end result will be beautiful and timeless! There’s no need to feel ignored at Gabberts — unlike Macy’s, they have receptionists on both floors. If you want help, start there.

I like to save my reviews for places I love in the hopes of increasing visibility for them, but I can’t ignore Gabberts. I recently visited the store very early on a weekday morning in November. The store was not crowded and there were several salespeople that were available. I say this with complete confidence because I heard all about their weekends, upcoming plans, etc. I looked around both levels of their large showroom and NOONE bothered to even greet me. Not even to say, «Hello.» To add insult to injury, I again went to the store(this time with my husband) and received the same icy response. We are remodeling our whole house and need furniture for every room. Sorry Gabberts, I won’t be buying anything from you now. Oh wait, I’m not sorry.

I don’t know where to start, so I’ll start with one word: frustrated. I hate writing this review because I was raised on Gabberts — it was my mom’s favorite place, but this isn’t the Gabberts I grew up on. I set up multiple appointments with their designer who wasn’t prepared — meetings were a waste of my time. Long story short, I eventually found a designer with no store affiliation who helped me achieve what I wanted to achieve. It proved to be a much better way to go — she was motivated, professional, and we weren’t limited to Gabberts.
