Gossip Salon & Day Spa

I have recently moved to the Annapolis area and have had a hard time finding a good stylist/​salon. Thankfully, yesterday I finally found someone, Brittany Squillari, that took the time to ask questions/​make suggestions and then did an amazing job with my thick, wavy hair. Brittany was also respectful of her peers (the stylist at another salon that made a mess in the back of my hair) by not saying anything negative. I appreciate that quality as there is no need to bad mouth someone that may not have your abilities. I highly recommend Brittany and the salon!

Let me just start with saying that I have never walked out of an appointment before, neither have I ever left no tip (I typically leave 20%). I am new to the area (Edgewater, MD) and I moved here from northern Virginia about a month ago (I miss it so much!). I was looking for a spa where I could continue getting my waxes done. I’ve been doing the Brazilian wax for the past 10 years so I am a pro in knowing what to expect, average prices, quality, wax types, etc. I decided to go to Gossip due to its close proximity to my home and also mainly because when I had called to inquire about the hard wax, they said they used hard wax. I then asked for an appointment with hard wax for a Brazilian. Even though he Brazilian is advertised at $ 75, the technician told me she may have to charge me more depending how much work it’ll be??? Once she noticed my wedding ring with a big diamond on it and complimented me, then she proceeded to tell me that she will have to charge me $ 105 even before starting to work on me. I have been to many salons and used to be a regular at the Red Door spas for Brazilian waxes and they don’t even charge that much! Besides, I’m 100 pound 5 feet petite woman so not that there is a ton of area to cover!!! Anyway, she proceeds to start with waxing strips. The reason behind my specifically asking for the hard wax was because its a lot less painful. Some technicians use wax strips because it’s much cheaper. When I indicated to her that I specifically asked for the hard wax, she said she preferred waxing strips. Okay, I don’t care what you prefer, waxing strips are a cheap way of doing it causing a lot of pain. When I insisted on hard wax, she said she didn’t have it ready. While using wax strips on me, she was instructing me throughout what to do to help her by pulling my skin, etc. After 2 – 3 wax strips used on me I told her I couldn’t do it and that I had had enough. She was very rude the whole time and very bossy with me and on top of it all, she did a terrible job. The fact that this salon charges a lot more than what’s advertised seems like a scam to me. Needless to say, I’ll never step foot in that place again.

The lady who cut my hair was absolutely so very great. She seemed like a super nice person and I really, really liked her as a person.
But my hair was cut uneven. It was a great clips cut with a downtown upscale Annapolis price. I’m afraid to get my hair cut again.
