Not the greatest food in the world, but very good… The staff made up for any shortcoming on the food. I got the«Vile» which was pretty good but a few bites I got some cold mash potatoes, although that didn’t disrupt the taste too much. I came mid day on a Friday and at first was busy, but not crowded. As the day went on the crowd dwindled(as expected) and I had the pleasure of having some conversations with the servers and the bartender. They had a lot to say about the area and made my afternoon a very enjoyable time. They have a large selection of Irish Whiskey’s and a decent selection of on-tap beers. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good Irish bar(or any bar) in the area. The have upstairs seating and several games(darts, «bubble hockey»). Definitely a place I would come back to when I’m in the area.

Great local pub with a good atmosphere and great value for the menu. Will definitely be back while visiting my niece at college.

Service was the highlight of our visit to Dooley’s. We ordered the cheese«curds» to start and were quickly disappointed with the blocks of cheese haphazardly breaded and fried… yuck. We proceeded to order the chicken basket and their version of a club… big mistake. The chicken was the consistency of the patties and dinosaurs eaten in your early childhood, and the club was dry and the meat tastes old. Our server, however, was very nice and attentive — even with the crowd that came in at the last minute. My advice? Skip the food and make this your drink stop. You’ll find better EVERYTHING at the Court’n House.

Visited Wisconsin for the first time last weekend, and Dooley’s was one of our first stops. The plan was to go to Mogie’s, but it was too busy so we ended up here. The service was friendly and even though they were busy, the bartender(server?) made sure we got seated fairly quick. I saw that they had a great beer selection and though I was disappointed in the cheddar cheese curds(too large and overly greasy) and my grilled chicken sandwich(very bland), I know our friends enjoyed their burgers and it was pretty cheap IMO(compared to CA prices that is). Overall, I would return to try other menu items.

Worst service ever. Didn’t get a server right away, beer was ordered and wasn’t served for 20 mins. Dinner order was taken when drinks were ordered and it took an hour and a half for 5 wraps with fries and a burger with fries. I don’t know if they were having an off day or what but the restaurant should have comped entire bill!

Cool bar located in the heart of the bar district in Eau Claire. I was actually pretty suprise to see their huge selection of high end liquors… Especially Irish Whiskey. I counted 28 different bottles and they may have had more! The décor is what you might think for an Irish /college pub. Lots of fun stuff on the walls and plenty of TV’s to watch the game or whatever you like. There was also a back room for, what I would assume, dinner crowds, groups or barroom overflow. I came in for lunch so I did not get to sample any of the whiskey(maybe next time!). But I did eat. I ordered the Shepard’s Pie, which was a real let down. Like another review has stated… You can skip this entrée! It was more like a hearty soup with a scoop of mashed potatoes in the middle. The taste was okay, it’s just not what I expected when I ordered the Irish meal. It literally should be listed under soups! The menu did have lots of other interesting options so try something different. I know I will next time.

Cool atmosphere. I love their wraps especially, but they have delicious burgers and wings too! Good service most of the time. Overall good restaurant/bar!

The fish n chips and the shepard’s pie was less than adequate. The cheese curds were amazing but left us with upset stomachs. Drinks are good.

Great food(the keltic knot is always a good choice), but the customer service has gone way down hill in the last couple of years. Last time I was there we waited 15 minutes for a server come ask us what we wanted to drink and it wasn’t even that busy.

Came here for a Badger game with my fiancé and his dad. We ordered some drinks and then some appetizers. The beer and Irish Coffee were great! The appetizers were the exact opposite. We had the mango jolokia chicken wings, nachos, and cheese curds. You could tell the wings were from the freezer and the sauce was not hot at all… it tasted like mango jelly. The nachos were covered in cheese wiz but at least the jalapenos on it were spicy. We have had the cheese curds on prior visits and they usually have been decent; however, tonight they were likely put in the deep fryer before the oil was hot and were over cooked, which resulted in cheeseless oil cubes. Our servers were nice but did not seem overly concerned with the guests they were supposed to be serving.

Five stars for curds, three for fries, four for burger. Good service, decent food and drink specials. No idea why poor reviews. This place is better maintained than most of what we saw in Eau Claire. Tv’s on upper wall for balcony seating.

I got bangers and mash, decent but nothing outside of Sysco could deliver to any place. My wife on the other hand got shepards pie. It was awful. Tasted like the meat was grinded with cigarette ash. Several explanations and a refund but still.

WILLNOTEVERGOBACK. My husband and I went here today around 2pm and it will be the last time. The food was OK. The service wasn’t anything great either. It consisted of mainly college kids which didn’t bother us. BUT when we received our bill it had a 15% tip included and we were immediately appalled. I asked if that was right and the server said ‘yes’. As a bartender and server I was completely offended. like she didn’t trust us to tip. She got her 15% tip… but we WOULDHAVE given her more. Because of this we will never return and I’m telling ALL my customers about that experience!

Pluses: Plenty of seating, some decent beers available, fries were decent. Negatives: Burger was way overcooked, televisions everywhere, poor value for money.

By far my favorite bar in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It’s a college bar with lots of locals. Year after year, Dooleys consistently hire some of the sweetest bartenders I’ve ever met. Expect big smiles and high energy service for an unexpected great time in this little town. I absolutely love their new beer menu, consisting of nearly 100 beers, all thanks to Dooley Jr, an entrepreneur mature way beyond his years. Don’t feel like a beer, how about a Johnny Walker Blue or Glenlivet 18 to warm the blood? I don’t believe you will find a better drink selection anywhere in Wisconsin, all at an extremely affordable price. No matter how cold it is outside, and trust me it gets bone-chillingly cold, I always look forward to visiting the heartwarming, welcoming Dooleys.

Great atmosphere for people to eat and have drinks at. We went out for drinks on a Thursday night and each drink took about. 5 – 10 mins to be brought to us. Mind you we were seated next to the bar. Both the waitress and bartenders were slow for delivering the drinks and had to google how to make them. The staff needed more training. Overall we would go back for food, but prob not for a night of drinking.

Really good place to go for drinks and food! The new hot dog menu is fabulous! I’d suggest getting them on a regular bun instead of the pretzel bun though!

Definitely come here for the booze and skip the food. I’ve eaten here three times and I’ve had massively overcooked sausages, wildly undercooked chicken, and a burger that could have been used as a hockey puck. Maybe if you started a pub crawl at the Joynt that ended at Dooleys the food would seem OK, but otherwise save your money…

I’ve been to Dooley’s a few times now. It’s a good place to have a few drinks and watch a game because they have a good beer selection, good seating arrangements, and an alright meal. If you are on Water St., most likely you are there to drink. Dooley’s keeps up with with the drinking crowd. They have a decent selection on tap, which includes a seasonal. Most of the time it’s Leinenkugel’s though. If tap isn’t your choice, they have a whole blackboard chalked full of imports and macro brews. What I do like about Dooley’s is the seating and atmosphere. I love to go during the weekdays. More often than not, you can find a seat on the top balcony and watch the game without the rowdiness of other bars. That’s kind of what I like about the place. It’s pretty low-key and they have the big games people want to watch. Now to the food. The food isn’t spectacular. This is why I don’t rate Dooley’s higher. I always try to get Irish food because it’s an Irish pub, but ironically Dooley’s doesn’t really serve good Irish food. I’ve ordered three meals there and only one of them I would order again. Last night I had the Shepherd’s Pie. It was probably one of the blandest meals I’ve ever tasted. It’s excellent if you don’t like flavor. Luckily I found a bottle of Tabasco sauce. It was pretty good after that. If you do order food, order the Reuben or an appetizer. Apparently their cheese curds are pretty good as well. I’ll still be back to Dooley’s. I just really like the place for a late night drink. Water St. can get fairly busy, and if I want to go watch a game with a few buddies Dooley’s has what I am looking for.

Terrible , Unfortunately, there was not much open on Water Street on Sunday. This was our second attempt to get a full-service meal because when we walked into the Nucleus Café we were told we could sit anywhere but they could not take an order for 45 minutes. So when we saw Dooley’s Pub was open we decided to try. I ordered a veggie sandwich which was missing ½ the ingredients, cheese, marinara, etc. The fries had sat around for sometime and I did not even attempt to eat these poor pathetic limp things. My boyfriend had the Irish Patty Melt and it too was missing ingredients. So much for the kitchen knowing the menu. We did start with the cheddar cheese curds. They were hot and airy but were served with nasty, old, bulk bottle tasting ranch dressing — YUCK. Alone they were fine but needed something to jazz them up a bit. The service was fine and friendly — that is why they got one star and not none. My guess is that this is somewhere to drink on Saturday night and not eat the rest of the week.
