Great food! Above par for Mexican restaurants. Still a little pricy for the cuisine, but understandable since we are on the island. Tamales are a must have! Bonus Star for giving us 10% off for a check in. :)

While the owners and names may have changed over the years I’ve been happily dining at this establishment since I was a little girl. My family and I have spent one weekend a summer on Orcas since I was little girl and I always looked forward to our Saturday night dinner out! This year I introduced my boyfriend to this beautiful island and my favorite spot to dine while visiting. He loved it so much we actually went back twice during our weekend visit. Happy Hour 3 to 6! Cheap but strong margaritas are always a good thing. Their salsa is perfection with just the right amount of kick and served the thinner, snappier tortilla chips I love. Their Chili Relleno is a fun vegetarian delight. Over the years I’ve tried many different dishes but their enchiladas always top my list. It’s all about the sauce! Prices are slightly steep, but that’s expected on the island! Service is friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for a sunny deck to enjoy some tasty Mexican cuisine I strongly suggest you stop by for happy hour. A few margaritas in you’ll find yourself wanting to stay for dinner!

A really really good choice on Orcas! Delicious, slow cooked food. The tamales are amazing. Pork tacos very good. Try a blended lemonade… so refreshing. Love eating on their patio when the weather allows. Great service from friendly waitress and owner. A can’t miss restaurant!

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and had a good experience despite the fact that the hostess was a rock hard smileless ice queen. She was clearly in the wrong profession as people aren’t really her thing. So we were a bit nervous about what to expect but were pleasantly surprised by the rest of the staff and the food was great. Portions weren’t huge but flavor was good. I had the red snapper fish tacos and a tasty margarita. It would have been a much better overall experience had the hostess not dug the place into such a deep hole before we even sat down.

Fantastic food! So great that we ate here two nights in a row! Top rated by Lonely Planet, where Chiladas has changed its name since the last publication, one can’t do better than this beautiful establishment for Mexican food The huge $ 12 burrito is truly out of this world, especially the steak one. The home-made salsa and chips is fantastic as well. The waitress made the dining experience all the better! A must eat!

We ate here last week. It was an uneven meal(my tacos were meh, the margaritas were grossly sweet, chips stale, Jessica didn’t like her quesadilla but Cheryl said the chile rellano was the best she’d ever had) and the food took forever to come to the table — over an hour. We were huddled under blankets at one of the tables outside as the place gradually cleared out. Almost seemed like we were the last served. Maybe that’s the treatment off-islanders get? The setting has such great potential, it is a shame it doesn’t live up to it.

The place is super cute and clean, so it deserves one star just for that alone, but the food leaves a LOT to be desired. I ate here once when it was Bilbos, and the food was delicious, but my experience yesterday was pretty bad. First, it took literally five minutes or more to even get seated, even though there was only four other patrons in the restaurant. It took ten minutes to get a first glass of water. On a small island like this, I’m totally willing to overlook slow service, but this was a little silly. We wandered in during«Happy Hour», so there were several offerings that appealed to us which seemed completely bomb proof. Oh, not so fast… The Guacamole is completely passable. It needs salt and a little lime, but I’ve had much worse. The chips were standard fare. It said on the menu that they were home made, but they tasted store bought and salt-less. We ordered one of the soups of the day — a «verde clam chowder» and it was downright awful. Thin, watery, flavorless. I don’t care if I was in a Mexican restaurant — chowder should not be so thin I can see through it. The Tamale my wife ordered wasn’t good(her report), and my quesadilla was straight up ridiculous. Store bought tortilla with Kraft cheese in it. I have to believe that there are other better options in town for food, but if you want to sit on their cute patio and have a drink with some guac, this might be just the spot for you.

Got there with one minute to go to happy hour– but couldn’t weasel in a drink in time– our waitress said they had already«put up the tequila»(Im still wondering what that means!) Bummed out, because otherwise the margaritas are all 10 $ and up. I got one anyway, and it was pretty average, and in a regular 8oz rocks glass with a bunch of ice. Food was really overpriced, I think i got 2 enchiladas for 14 $, and i dont know that i particularly cared for those either. Something of note– everything is with a ‘twist’ — so if you have a mexican food shaped hole in your heart… this might not be the right place. Just a blah experience and spent a lot of money. Wish we would have grilled outside instead!

Margaritas were ok, salsa a little hot but the meals were wonderful. I had the burrito mojado with beef. Great flavor, and texture. My wife had the special, dungeoness crab enchilada also great flavor and a true northwest treat. The sopapila especial could have used more cinnamon and sugar, but other than that were perfect. Service was a little slow, but it appeared to be minimal staff and late Sunday night. Probably the best Mexican food I have had since we moved to Washington.

We visited here on a quiet afternoon in March for happy hour. The margaritas and nachos were so excellent we stayed for dinner. This place serves top notch food for very good prices. My pork was excellent and the dish came with the most amazing kale and greens on the side, dressed with citrus.(Yes, kale and greens competing with pork! It was that good.) I also ordered a Chilada, which is a light beer served with fresh lime juice — my first, and very tasty. Definitely worth a visit! It has lingered in my memory for a couple of months so I wanted to write this review.

Stumbled upon this place since it was the only restaurant open on Sunday mid-afternoon…amazing margaritas(even better on their happy hour menu!), super tasty food — everything was so fresh and local. Great service too!

Friendly staff with quick service and solid food. The happy hour specials were a very good deal! My margarita was well made and strong and the beer selection was excellent. Food was good but not great. The Carne Asada was so heavily marinated I couldn’t taste the meat very well. The black refried beans were good, but the rice was a bit bland. My husband had the posole and thought it was really good.(And actually it made me wish I could give 3.5 stars since he’d definitely give 4 here.). I’m pretty picky when it comes to this type of cuisine so 3 stars from me is probably closer to others 4. :).

We ended up here one night on our visit to Orcas due to ill planning – every place we had on our list on the island was packed. We barely got into this place as well. I’m glad we did as the experience was nice. Portions are generous but not overboard, lots to choose from on the menu. Very nice complexity of flavors. My only complaint is that my dish had a bit too much heat to it – the exponential kind keeps building as you eat. I was soon sweating from the chiles, lol. Great margaritas helped cool me off. Nice service. We’ll stop by again.

We had an amazing meal at Chiladas on our recent visit to Orcas Island. The food was super fresh and delicious. The margaritas were fresh and limey and not too sweet. My fiancé and I always decide on «who won»(or who ordered the better meal) when we go out to eat, and at Chiladas, we couldn’t decide because both of our meals were so good. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Orcas.

Bilbo’s is back and finally friendly again! Been there three times this Summer and every experience was positive. The chille relleno is better than its been in years. Make a reservation if you don’t want to wait… they take them gladly.

Looks good from the outside. Nice outdoor setting. But, you have to order and pay before you sit down. Very strange. Sevice was not very friendly. Menu is limited. Food is below average. Bees everywhere, landing on food. I walked away for 12 seconds and there were literally 4 bees crawling on my food. Margarita was bitter. Don’t be fooled by the attractive setting.

We’ve been going to restaurants in this space for 30 years. It was originally(and until recently) called Bilbo’s and it was opened by the folks who now run Chilada’s. It had been going downhill over the past several years(under different management) and finally closed over the winter. So, we were very encouraged when we heard it would reopen this summer. It is very reminiscent of Bilbo’s in its heyday with some new twists and has gotten better. Many of the dishes are similar to the prior menu with a couple of notable exceptions. First, the tired old«beans and rice» which accompany most mediocre Mexican meals are gone, replaced with new and interesting dishes like Parmesan polenta, braised greens with a refreshing vinegary reduction and even mashed butternut squash. Those sides alone have really perked the place. Second, the menu has been simplified and the ever-popular«combination plates» have been banished. The focus now is on fewer choices done better. On top of all of that, the staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and fun to talk to!
