Seemed like a nice place but I was put off by the person working there not bothering to greet me when I (or others after me) came in. In a store this size, it just made me feel like I was intruding.

I love White Square! Eileen brings great books into the store, many of them hardcovers in great condition. I bought several holiday gifts from her last year, and I am sure I will do so again this year. She is also very friendly and helpful in a hands-​off kind of way. That kind of attitude is a rarity in Western Massachusetts, where I often find myself saying hello to salespeople and owners, who meet me with a strange look, as if I am an alien.
White square also has interesting prints and other art — totally unpretentious, and at the same time, high brow. This place is a real rarity.
