Absolutely the worst Korean I’ve ever had. I used to live in Baltimore where there was a really amazing K-town, so I guess I got spoiled to delicious bibimbap and seafood pancakes and lots of other Korean specialities. We’ve been here a few times, and I think tonight is the last chance Birchwood will get from us. The eggs were both undercooked. Don’t get me wrong, I like runny eggs, but the whites were gooey and the yolks were cold in the middle. I got the beef bibimbap, and the beef was completely dried up into big chunks. We also got the seafood pancake. I’ll give them a pass on the fact that it was soggy since we had to walk it home, and I don’t expect it to stay super crisp in a plastic container. But there was literally no seafood. This was mostly breading, carrots(weird??), onions(weird??), and a few very small pieces of calamari. There weren’t even any scallions, which I thought was odd. Anyway, long-story short, I don’t recommend this place at all if you’ve had good Korean food in the past — you’ll just leave utterly disappointed.

Fair. The restaurant smelled like bleach poured over mold & frozen pot stickers. Wierd lighting. They offered several nice touches, like a mini salad before the ramen, and melon after. But this did not make up for what seemed like frozen ramen with mediocre spices. This place needs an up-do.

The food is delicious — I had the kimchi ramen and bf had the spicy chicken wings, and it came with a couple banchan dishes. Pretty basic and simple but that’s all you’re really looking for when going to a sports pub/bar. Quite liked it here. I hope to be returning more often when I’m in the area and up for a quick and delicious korean meal and a pint.

I came here with my boyfriend at 11pm and we weren’t sure if it was still open, but it was and they were still serving food! I had the fried Korean dumplings and they were all so crunchy and fresh! Then we ordered popcorn chicken and chicken wings which were very crunchy and very saucy, it was delicious! My boyfriend ordered a beer which was also delicious and the raspberry soju was also amazing! The owner of the place was the only one there at that time and he did all the cooking and the bar and the food came out really fast too! He also took the time to have a nice conversation with us and he really made our night. I will definitely recommend this place and I’m looking forward to the next time I come here! :)

Server was friendly and invested beyond belief which makes the rest of my review hard to write. The food here is decent but can use a few tweaks. Bibimbop was good but I like more pickled veggies thrown in the mix — the beef could be more tender, I got a couple gristly bits. My friend got the tofu and grilled kimchi. The tofu is literally taken out of a container and sliced, warmed, and put on the plate. So it’s bland and the texture is totally lacking. Meals come with three dishes of ban-chan. One was shredded veggies that were kind of bland and slightly sweet and soggy. Another was kombu in a sweet spicy sauce — the kombu wasn’t cut up so you got these giant sheets of seaweed which even for a sea veggie lover like myself, was too much. The star was the standard cabbage kimchi which was spicy and fermented and tasty. It was dead the evening we came in for dinner — only one other table in a rather large restaurant. The interior is a strange mix between hipster hippie chic(I admit to having a penchant for that aesthetic), bro sports bar, and Korean restaurant. As much as I love me a weird mash-up, I have no idea how these things go together and the whole place feels unresolved. I wish them all the best but it seems like the food can use a little refinement and the identity and clientele need to be figured out a bit better.

Since my friend told me about Birchwood Forest, and my friends and I went on Thursday, we have already been back twice! All of the food we have tried is absolutely amazing and for a fraction of the cost of getting it in Ktown. The wings have the crispiest bite to them and the galbi is sliced thicker than usual providing amazing favor and texture. Bryan, the bartender, is also extremely welcoming and friendly. He does an amazing job of making everyone feel at home. He also ensures that everyone is having a good time and really cares about the customers. I’ll definitely be spending a lot of time there, especially when games I want to watch are on.

I stopped in here for a quick dinner with my sons on a Sunday evening. The service was quick, attentive and extremely friendly. My sons were blown away by the Ramen. The Birchwood chicken platter was a generous size and was simply amazing. The ambience was nice the music was an appropriate volume to remain pleasant and conversational. This is a great spot to take a date or enjoy a few drinks with your friends while taking in the Big Game on the large screen TV’s.

Great new place for watching Sports and having a $ 8.00 Ramen and spicy Wings! The wings seem pricy but you get 10 wings… its a meal, not an appetizer… Staff is VERY friendly which is nice for a change in Hipster land

I’ve come here a cpl times a week since they’ve opened. I absolutely love the vegetable binbinbap. Bryan, who’s the frontman tending bar in the afternoons knows me and my boyfriend’s name and knows our order upon walking in. We feel so good eating here, I haven’t tried the American fair but wow, we can’t get enough binbinbap and bulgogi and it’s so reasonably priced for the portions. We’re really happy it moved in across the street. I’m not too into the American sports pub scene and I wish there was a little more diversity in the music, I’d love to hear some Korean music sometimes, and less tvs on all the time but I love the people running the place. They’re so nice, welcoming sweet people and the Korean food is amazing so I’ll keep coming back!!! Awesome WiFi sp

I love going here. I come here for drinks after work a couple times a week. The waiters are so sweet! Also I love the bathrooms are so pleasant too. Also, the beer shot soju combo is the bomb. $ 6! $ 7 if you choose whiskey.
