I went there for breakfast. It was pretty decent. I would go there again. I would like to try their lunch.

My favorite meal from Tastey’s is fried whiting, mac & cheese and collard greens. The portions are perfect because I can either share my patter or save some for later. I the food!

No smile from the employees even after saying it was my first visit. I was expecting them to recommend items etc. there was one very friendly jolly guy who worked there — very welcoming however the ladies should follow his lead. Food– the ribs were good. Nice amount of meat and the sauce had kick. As for the smothered porkchops– it was tasteless. the Mac n cheese tasted starchy-weird. the gravy is everything for smothered porkchops and coming from the South– we love our gravy. That was a bit disappointing. I’m going to attempt on a weekday as it was 50⁄50. If my experience is the same as before I will move onto finding another soul food place that will provide better service and Truly«Tasty».

Bland Mac, Bland collards, Very boney whiting, and cornbread tastes like milk. Very flavorless overall. Mac and cheese was plain macaroni and melted cheese which seems to be a NJ thing smh Thank goodness for soul food factory which is where I should’ve went for great collards. Collards were fresh but had no seasoning which gives collards a out the can taste. Whiting was good but had more bones then usual perhaps they need to talk to their fish supplier about filet methods. The cornbread was not dry,(which thank goodness because I would’ve thrown the plate across the room) but didn’t have any sugar, butter, cinnamon or honey not a damned thing in it but milk. I had high hopes for this spot and even higher when I waited 35 minutes to get my meal because this small spot was busy. Not a smile to be found out of either one of their employees. Smh. Damned shame East Orange just doesn’t understand business!

I tried Tastey’s for the first time last night. I ordered the oxtails entrée with lima beans and cabbage/collards as my sides. I was trepidatious to try the mac n cheese, as I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to that dish. My step father–(who’s eaten there a few times before) — vouched for it so I added it to my order. Although not as good as my mom’s mac n cheese, I was glad I made the addition. Tastey’s oxtails were flavorful and fell off the bone! The lima beans were seasoned to perfection and the cabbage and collard green mix was a delightful juxtaposition of both sweet and tangy flavors. The portions are plenty and I even had some leftover to take with me for lunch to work the next day. I’ll certainly be back and have already begun to spread the word.

I checked this place out after sampling the Mac and cheese and Yams from my sisters plate after she dropped by Sunday with only a plate for herself. Monday I was feigning and disappointed that the establishment was closed on Mondays. So here it is Tuesday and I couldn’t wait to get off work so I could get me some Tastey’s and boy was it Tasty. I got jerk chicken macaroni and cheese and yams, my daughter had the fried chicken greens and And Mac and cheese, everything was great. I would want to go back tomorrow but I don’t want to seem pressed :) Steady stream of traffic, quaint set up and good food what more do you need! Much better than Southern Comfort’s food in Orange and yes they accept credit cards!

Tastey’s is relatively new. I sincerely hope they plan to stay a long while! I visited here on the recommendation of a friend. She raved about it and trust her food judgement so I went to confirm for myself. Best decision I made that day! I like to try a new place on their busiest day. It lets me know what they are made of. So I went on a Sunday. Let me tell you, it was packed but they are efficient, friendly and the quality of the food doesn’t suffer. It’s a tiny place with just a few tables but it’s clean and pleasing to the eye. I got takeout but you can certainly eat in. My food was fresh, not and delicious. The staff was very welcoming. I will definitely return. The parking lot is small but there is street parking very close by as well. I regret I didn’t get to try any of the delicious looking desserts but next time for sure.
