Pool is large and more importantly clean. There is a dining board and a slide. Tables and benches are available but there’s also room to bring your own. Next door is a basketball court and a roller rink which could use some work. No place to eat. Bathrooms could use some cleaning and updating. Parking is available.

Though I’m from out of town I played many a softball game here over the years so when our daughter was old enough to play travel soccer I didn’t need directions when I saw Lurker Park on our schedule. Nice park for families with plenty for kids to do and bocce courts for the older, Italian gents. I remember they used to freeze part of the parking lot for ice skating, but I haven’t seen them do that in years. It would be nice if they brought that practice back. I’ve seen far better and far worse parks, but if you’re a local it’s worth a stop and if you see it on your baseball, softball or soccer team’s schedule you know you are going to a safe park with halfway decent fields.

Lurker park is great, I visited with my 2 sons, and included it as one of the best parks without wood chips :) If you want to find out more of what we thought, find out more on nj playgrounds site listed on my profile(had to remove link because of Unilocal Terms of Service)

I spent a ridiculous amount of time here. . waiting by the jungle gym-esque caterpillar for a boy in kindergarten . heading over to the carnival sponsored by the Italian American Club(hmmm) where I ended up on rides with teachers or circling spew on the Cobra or losing brain cells on the Gravitron or stuffing my face with ice cream after I got braces . sitting on the swings in college right before sunrise with my best friend. . tennis lessons with my weird European instructor that forgot the 80s were over and wore florescent shorts . throwing stuff into my friends’ car from my car . running over boxes(although that happened at Costco mostly. oh small town) . pick up basketball games(well. boys asking me if I wanted to play and me just playing horse by myself. HAH. and running drills/doing layups) . Filipino picnics with stupid games and cash prizes(Victor peeing on the slides) . school field day festivities and dixie cup ice cream . watching the old Italian men play bocce ball and having them invite my dad to play every so often . my brother jumping off the seesaws so I’d drop with a huge bang . my softball coach bursting a blood vessel because I had too many foul tips . ice skating on the parking lot . making fun of the name(Lurker Park? Sketchy…) . the even sketchier bathrooms . learning how to drive in the parking lot . kickball on the baseball field(not allowed) . July 4th fireworks and having my dad cover my ears . seeing if the animal sacrifice rumor was true in the backwoods Now the park seems different. There are more events(music in the park Tuesdays in July and August, charity relays, more events sponsored by the Italian American Club etc). The playground moved(well that was awhile ago) and now kids can fall on that weird sort of bouncy turf instead of on their faces in the dirt like I did so long ago. And of course seesaws are gone. Oh man. there was even that dog sit/stay Guinness world record challenge September 2007(whatever happened with that?). Lurker. oh Lurker. minus mosquitoes. you’re awesome. Good for jogging, biking, rollerblading, every sport imaginable(although I haven’t seen the volleyball courts. did they move them?), great for impromptu picnics and gatherings. relatively close to route 80, 46, 287, 10 and right on Ridgedale Avenue. Home to the town pool: $ 50 for EH residents $ 7.50 for guests($ 10 on weekends) and free for the under 2 and over 60(there are also packages…). There are two parking lots. one on Ridgedale(if you’ve passed the Sunoco you’ve gone too far) and one on Eagle Rock(right across Sorrento’s and Hanover Manor). Tennis courts, playground, and swimming pool are closer to the Eagle Rock parking lot.
