We wanted Chinese, so why not do it buffet style? We normally only eat at one buffet spot, so we wanted to try something different. In a way, I’m glad we did. The place is clean and has lots of booths and tables. It looks small from the outside so this was a nice surprise. There weren’t too many other patrons when we arrived, so we went into a booth. One thing I immediately noticed when we walked in was that the prices weren’t displayed, so I wasn’t sure what we were going to pay. We did a walk through and all the staples were covered: rice, lo mein, general tso(and other kinds of chicken), dumplings, egg rolls, soup, etc. There is also a whole section of sushi. It looked fresh and tasted good. The food was warm and was changed out a few times while we were there. Some of the food however did taste a bit different than I’ve had in the past(which wasn’t terrible, but threw me off). There is a sectuon of salad, fruit and pudding. Dessert is your choice(from about 5 flavors) of ice cream, cookies and/or brownie. Employees are friendly, attentive and were quick to refill beverages. I would dine here again, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

I like this place a lot. They keep the food fresh and plentiful whether there are 3 or 30 people. You can’t say that for many places.

Good variety and very fair price without having to worry about pushing people out of the way to get food… It is best to go at traditional times as the turn food over more often than at off hours

I probably eat here quarterly. This time a Monday night at 6pm not too many diners. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. I am happy to have this place in Rensselaer county! Tonight the soups and tea were pipping hot and tasty! My friend enjoyed the sushi and said it was fresh and flavorful. I did notice no crab legs on buffet his time. Some items on the buffet were it hot as some reviews mention but I have never had a problem in the past I think it was a slow night. I don’t have any problem with quality of food. Waitstaff ask if everything is ok. I also think the signage doesn’t really attract business. In any case I will continue to patronize this place. I think restaurant business is tough anywhere but especially on the 9&20 corridor in EastGreenbush. Give it a try just watch when they bring the hot dishes out and enjoy!

We used to go here a lot but it is not like it was. Not very busy any more so the food does not turnover like it used to. The place is definitely slipping. Too bad. It used to be very good.

Very overpriced for the quality. The food is left in the heaters for a long time and was not very fresh. Prices were not displayed and they charged adult prices for 11 and 13 year old children who didn’t eat that much. Pesky service quick to take your plate while your still eating. If you constantly want to be bothered while you eating and having a conversation with friends and family this is the place for you. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Hate it. If any of you in the area remember the great Chinese buffet sweep a while back, when they shut down a crap load of buffets for illegal workers. They were awesome back then, now they suck. It seems they have been under new management since they opened back up a while back and it all went downhill from there. Unless you’re there for prime time the food sits there FOREVER. When I say forever I say it in an ominous tone, and mean exactly what I said, FOREVER. The food stays out until it starts growing its own species of life. Its horrible. I love Chinese buffets, this is the Chinese buffet that started my love of Chinese buffets. It is now on the crap list of food, which is horrible. I go out of my way to drive the 10 minutes to Albany buffets then to go the 2 minutes up the road to this one. Crap.

I eat here a few times a year. In years past, I think under different ownership/management the food was on occasion sub-par, but in all my recent visits I have always found the food to be fresh and flavorful. My visit today found the parking lot full, which is usually a good sign. The servers I recognize from past visits, and they are always friendly, never pushy, and they communicate well with customers, although they are a bit on the quiet side, but always very nice. At lunch they have the usual items you’d find at most similar sized buffets, and a variety of sushi. The sushi is nothing exotic, and geared toward average Americans, but is always of good quality. I do enjoy the fact that they have greenshell mussels on ice, they are a quality addition to the cold station. Their vegetables are cooked properly with a nice variety available, if you like to eat healthier. Dim sum and dumplings are home made. I find the place to be very consistent these days, and will go back before years end. $ 7.50 total for lunch before tip, includes a pot of hot tea.

OMG! I’ve found where the«People of Walmart» eat! The food wasn’t good before & has gotten even worse. My first time back there in well over 2 years, too many issues with the food to list, doubt I’ll ever return.

We have gone several times because it was the nearest chnse buf and a few things were pretty good. Just a few, as most of the dishes are not hot, but just slightly warm! They also keep food out too long, they don’t refrsh most dishes especially when the place has just a few dinners. The food gets old and tired quickly and looses any quality it may have had! Also, many of the vegetables are very undercooked and raw tasting! BUTWORSTOFALL, they are so cheap there and do not take care of their customers they seldom have any air conditioning turned on! WEMEAN none! ITHAS been a very hot summer and on the medium to hot days it is NOTTURNEDONANDTHEFRONTDOORISLEFT wide –OPENASIFTHATWILLCOOLTHEPLACE… WE have turned around and left when we saw the door open and will not dine in a place that does not care if you sweat into your food… be warned! if you want a comfortable place to dine in, go some place else that treats customers with the proper respect.

With all of the 3&4 starred reviews I decided to give Super Buffet a shot. Being new to the area and craving Chinese I was nearby(according to Unilocal) and stopped in. Did the ‘walk around’ before taking a seat and saw several dishes that looked tasty. That is where the fun ended. Of all of the food that I tried only the soup was HOT and that(hot and sour) lacked any real flavor. Everything else was either barely warm, room temperature or cold. Having worked in the restaurant industry in the past, I know the importance of keeping hot buffet foods hot… Sesame/Peanut Chicken should be hot, not cold like it came out of the fridge 5 mins ago. The sushi was good and COLD, but it did not taste fresh. As if it had been out all day. I hate wasting food, and nearly a full plate of food was thrown out as I could not bring myself to continue eating it. As much as I hate to say it… I mixed the food up on my plate to prevent it from being ‘put back out’, as that is the general feeling I began to get while sitting there. The server was friendly and seemed genuinely concerned that I did not care for the food, but when I mentioned the cold beef and chicken dishes I received only an «I’m sorry». By that time I decided that I would rather take my chances else where and I left. At just over $ 14 for the ‘meal’ it wasn’t too expensive of a lesson. but definitely would never recommend this establishment even for a ‘cheap’ meal. It’s just not worth the chance for food poisoning.

This place is okay. We went here after finding out Teagans was closed permanently. The general tso’s is low quality, the crab Rangoon and Mongolian beef were pretty good. If you order sweet tea beware that it will be raspberry tea. They do have crab legs and clams on the buffet and it only costs $ 11 sans a drink.

wow, this place needs bulldozing, low quality, sugary food, my stomach hurt minutes after starting my first plate, Super Buffet in it’s mission to lure all who drive by offer Chinese, Japanese and American buffet cuisine(EPICFAIL in all three!) in addition to a rather disgusting cookie/ice cream station of the cheapest quality, the staff don’t even eat the food, the kitchen makes them completely *different* Chinese food to eat(lucky them!), abandon this place and try one of those Italian roadhouse’s littered along the highway

It’s a fairly typical chinese/japanese buffet with a decent sushi selection that thankfully didn’t smell or taste funky. They have the classics — general tso, lo mein, fried rice — as well as pizza and tater tots, which is always entertaining. Clean, cheap, and decent. I’ve had better, but I’ve also had way, way worse. I’d eat there again.

Decent all you can eat restaurant. The food is decent for cafeteria-style buffet, considering it is made in bulk and put on hot plates. The egg rolls were overdone, and the dumplings were greasy and overcooked, and everything was covered with a shiny sheen but I did not ask whether they use MSG or not. However, I was happy with my General’s chicken and sweet and sour pork and the green bean dish was very good. Table service provided drinks and cleared plates, and they were very pleasant.

This place used to be a Ponderosa Steakhouse back in the early 1990s. The buffet area is very bright with neon. The EG Super Buffet offers some of the traditional Chinese favorites, soups, sushi, salads, American dishes, pizza, shrimp cocktail, salmon, & crab legs. Some of the food is a bit of the greasy side, but very tasty. For dessert, there is a variety of Yasgur Farms hard ice cream, cake, cookies, apple strudel, jello, & fruit. The service is here good(drinks are refilled when needed and used plates are cleared between buffet trips).
