Today I was looking for something good and different my girlfriend told me about this Latin American restaurant in East Chicago. I was optimistic but we decided to try it out. Unfortunately I was truly disappointed with the food there was nothing authentic about it, I felt. I ordered a pork chop dinner and the pork was horribly over-cooked I mean really I felt like I was eating pork jerky. I could have made a better pork chop then that at home, it was super dry they totally HAMMERED it! The rice was okay it needed more love and flavor. My girlfriend ordered the steak dinner which wasn’t that flavorful either and they got her order wrong. Overall this place really needs some work in the kitchen please because the way they prepared my pork chop was a crime. I think I could’ve given 3 stars at least if the puerto rice wasn’t so mediocre. Come on guys you have to do these star dishes right!

Yesterday was my second time going to this restaurant to get a jibarito. It’s a small, cozy place with friendly service and great jibaritos. It’s clean and the service is friendly. The jibarito seems kinda big, but it’s just perfect because it’s a plantain sandwich not bread – satisfying but not«overstuffing». The meat is very tasty and the mayo/dressing on the inside really makes the flavors come together. Try their Cola Champagne for a twist on cream soda. Outside of Chicago, northwest Indiana has few places that offer this type of food.

Food is very good really loved the steak jibarito steak had good flavor and was huge had to cut into 3 pieces very filling bought dinner which includes 2 sides i got white rice with habuchelas also very tasty all for 12 $, well worth it. Wife got the mofongo with carne frita dinner which also includes 2 sides she got tostoenes and puertorican rice loved the garlic taste in mofongo just a little on the salty side though, that plate was 14 $ had more than enough to take home for later will definitely be coming back.

Waited a bit for the food but worth it! Very fresh, nice portions and absolutely delicious. No longer need to drive for good Puerto Rican food!

At first glance I could already tell this restaurant wasn’t typical of the area it’s in. The inside was very clean and colorful and the smell was of fresh spice. Our waitress was a beautiful young woman who let us take our time to look at the menu. She was very attentive. The food didn’t take long, which was a surprise to me, considering how fresh our dinner was. When our food arrived our waitress was very knowledgeable and took time to explain the different condiments on our plates. I left very satisfied knowing that all of that great food was served fresh and so inexpensive. I will definitely be coming back and I’m recommending Tania’s to everybody I know that has a taste for great Latin American food. 5 stars all the way.

Well rounded Latino restaurant, the salsa music was on point as well as the food. The jibaritos is a must try. The customer service was good, I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Will definitely return for a second round of jibaritos.

This place has decent food and prices are ok. I really wanted to like this place cause not many restaurants serving jibaritos around here and they are a pain to make. But the ambience is poor for dining, while it is very clean it was kind dead no music or even TV playing was so quiet and generic. The owner walked in and said something kinda rude to a customer but the waitress was super nice. The food took a while about 25 minutes which was strange since we were only ones that ordered. 2 other customers there and already had food so think was kind a long. Long story short won’t go there to dine in anymore but will most likely do carry outs. More of a carry out restaurant to me. Hope they make it every time I have passed by seems like no customers.
