So excited to find this place. Grabbed a quick lunch — small pork belly, pulled pork and meatballs. With drinks our bill was $ 12! Food was flavorful with a special note to the delicious meatballs. The restaurant is counter service, essentially cafeteria style. Great value and we will definitely be back

Turon(5 for $ 2), Lumpia(35 cents each, 65 for the larger veg ones), Meat on a stick($ 2.50) or in a bun($ 1.25). Yep all the usual suspects and then some are here seven days a week. I’ll admit that when I first went on a Monday I wasn’t too impressed. That’s what I get for breaking my rule of trying a new place on Mondays… that’s practically begging for the weekends leftovers. However I have seen the light(Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun), but it’s not a light at all. It’s a black hole of amazing addictive food. I can’t help it I find myself stopping in 34 times a week for the past couple of weeks just for… ya know… a lil’ sumpin’ I used to have Filipino and I loved the food they would bring over. That’s pretty much my scale with Filipino food and this is right up there. I can’t go 5 stars because I’m pretty surprised at how horrible they are at describing any food they have in English. Oh yeah… Balut.

The East Brunswick branch of a mini chain is a neighborhood staple for the Filipino population and has been for many years. Half grocery, half restaurant/buffet {turo turo} with catering services this small but popular branch offers just about all the basics needed for a Filipino household and their pantry. The hot buffet can be spotty at times when«Cuya» has a day off but for the most part is still a good tasty option. My favorites are the Lumpia Shanghai and BBQ baboy. Whole lachons are very popular around the holidays and birthdays but Phil-Am still seems to get them with enough lead time. Go…and have a Halo Halo to cool you down.
