Delicious Perry’s ice cream across the street from Elm Street Bakery. The Red Caboose Ice Cream station has a lot of different flavors; all Perry’s ice cream. I got a waffle cone of French Vanilla coffee ice cream. One note of caution: the one scoop(Junior scoop) is pretty small. I expected a bit of a larger scoop and had I known it would have been so small, I would have ordered two. Bless them for keeping the weight off of me, but just be aware that one scoop here is smaller than some other places. They were open until 9/10pm on the Tuesday of May that we were here and I definitely appreciated the later hours. It was chilly and there’s no place to wait inside, so just be aware; you’ll be eating your ice cream outside. Service was friendly and the ice cream was delicious. Didn’t get a chance to try the shakes this time around, but I did get the shakes from being out in the cold(har har). All in all, Red Caboose is a great little place to add some joy to your life =).

This is a great little ice cream shack located off the main drag in East Aurora. They have mostly Perry’s ice cream, but that is perfectly good ice cream. They also have frozen custard, so Lee and I decided to go with that, getting twist cones. We both opted for waffle cones, because they make their own in house. They were low on supply, so mine was freshly made, and warm, which made the custard a wee bit melty, but the taste of the waffle cone was incredible and delicious. As other reviewers mention, they could use a restroom on site, and they could also do with redoing their menu — it’s really hard to read in the state that it’s in. There’s a lot of papered over places and it’s not easy to read when a lot of people are lined up to get ice cream. Overall it’s great, and I’d definitely go back.

A quaint little ice cream shop in an old train caboose. Though not ‘house made’ ice creams, the Perry Ice Cream was excellent. Many choices of incredibly flavorful ice creams, sorbets and gelatos. 10 of us sampled a variety of two scoop dessert cups. No one was disappointed. Very efficient ordering and delivery windows. The Hershey’s train that runs around the caboose in which this establishment is housed, delights customers, especially kids. Restrooms are needed — at least a port o let by the picnic tables in back.

How funky is Elm Street Bakery? How loose are people at Bar Bill? So get some cakes and bar wings And a shake from Red Caboose That’s my East Aurora song. It’s trademarked, copyrighted, patented, and it’s also crap. Should be a big hit then. What to get: vanilla custard. I love this little place because the custard tastes really nice, and it’s just a dollar for a baby size! And since I don’t need a lot of custard anyway, it’s perfect. It’s some of my fave frozen vanilla soft serve custard… I can taste the difference between a bad one and a good one and this is good! It’s not as good as Abbott’s(at Bill Greys in both Rochacha and B-lo) or the ultimate, Nielsen’s in Vienna, VA… oh, or Leon’s in Millywalkeh. But it’s really good nevertheless. The irony is that you can spend $ 100 for 2 or 3 people across the street at ESB(which is diametrically opposed to the WSB, where the last YEE was HFR).(Held Fairly Recently). And then you can come across the street and get dessert for $ 1. Talk about diametric opposition. How many litres of liquid soap are we talking about? That’s what I call«Dial Metric».

This is a great little ice cream place!!! The selection of flavors is good, the prices are good, and the atmosphere is perfect for a little family ice cream night. My son loves trains and he was thrilled when he realized there’s a little button for him to push to make the train go around the tracks along the top of the place. He couldn’t get enough of watching that train go around! There’s some really nice little swings and benches for seating around the place. Love it here.

Walking and touring the area, it was a pleasant surprise to happen upon this unique ice cream station. It was delightful to see the well-planned seasonal ice cream stand, with a deck built up to the platform of a repurposed caboose. Little ones can look up and delight at the encased toy train that runs on a track around and around the caboose. The ice cream stand was clean and fairly organized, if not a bit lacking in customer service and plenty of napkins. There was seating of various types on the shaded back yard area: a porch-type swing, a glider, picnic benches thoughtfully sized for both grown-ups and kidlets alike. At least two families sported well-mannered dogs. The ice cream was good quality run-of-the-WNY-mill, a bit pricey, but perhaps forgivable considering the atmosphere. Plus, you come here for the great outdoor experience of an old fashioned walk-up-to-order establishment. This is the kind of place that makes our area one of a kind.

Our favorite place for ice cream in EA. It’s all about the atmosphere. I mean… ice cream is ice cream. It’s about the caboose, and the miniature train, and the picnic tables and swings in the shade. The prices are comparable to other ice cream places and their are plenty of choices. We spent a lot of our summer there.

My family is a big fan of the Red Caboose. By far the best ice cream place in the area. Prices are very reasonable($ 8 to $ 10 for a family of 4 with reasonable appetites). There is plenty of seating in the shade. I cannot understand why anyone would possible go to a place like Cone King in a plaza when the Red Caboose is right down the street.

The Red Caboose in East Aurora is a pretty neat little place to get your sweet tooth taken care of. If you have kids I think this place would be a great place to visit, and they have buttons that you can hit to make the miniature train on the top of the caboose run around. There is plenty of parking but really no places to sit besides your car. The place was pretty packed when we went(a Friday night after dinner) so lines were long and for the two ice creams I bought, I thought the prices were pretty high considering what I ordered. Small portions as well. It’s a cute place but their ice cream(which would keep be coming back) didn’t impress me much, if at all.
