We just recently moved to Eagle River and this is one of our favorite Mexican places to visit. The staff are so friendly, they provide fast service, and the food is excellent. Also, their margaritas are super tasty — even the house margaritas. We would much rather eat here than travel into Anchorage for food that is more expensive and less authentic. The carne asada in the special tacos is amazing — seasoned just like my husband’s homemade chile con carne. I have been here several times and have always had a pleasant dining experience. Support your local businesses! Eat at Jalapeños!

Great Mexican food with a wonderful environment and friendly staff. The chips are huge, salsa hot, and my food came fast.

Overpriced honestly if you want decent food but cheaper then just go to Taco King. It was a bit too dark in there for me and the sticker shock killed me. I tried some beans and rice because I felt like I was being robbed. I also had the fried ice cream which wasn’t too bad. I also felt like the parking lot was a little awkward and crowded but I understand that you can’t exactly change that.

Very disappointed. I ordered delivery online. It took more than an hour to get order delivered and that was only after I called at 60 minutes and asked why order not arrived. Then it came without rice and beans. I called and was told extra but online menu does not say that. I also was over charged by $ 6. Very very disappointed and I’m not going to visit again. 6 months ago I gave 5 star.

Ehh i prefer chepos…1st if you want more chips and salsa you have to pay? Really? The refried beans need more flavor and color. The décor is very nice and is clean.

Jalapeño’s is my favorite haunt in Eagle River. Jalapeño’s is a family owned business with people who care about your dining experience. It would be hard to find a nicer crew. Food: One of my absolute favorite things about Jalapeño’s is the fact that if you ask them to spice it up, they WILL spice it up. When I get my chicken burrito I ask for it spicy and Jerry will ask if I want it spicy or if I want it SPICY and if I say SPICY I get SPICY. We’re not talking about some diced jalapenos being added to the burrito spicy, we’re talking diced habaneros spicy! We’re talking eyes tearing, nose sniffing hot spicy! I haven’t found a single Mexican restaurant in the area that’ll spice it up like Jalapeño’s which is one of the many reason why they’re my favorite. When I’m up for something a little different I get the camarones caliente which is large prawns in spicy sauce(you can get it non-spicy, too) served with rice, beans and flour tortillas. Delicious! Prices: on par with other Mexican restaurants in the area. There are dishes ranging from $ 10 up to $ 24. Also you can get many items ala cart(without the rice and beans) which can make for a very affordable meal. They have all the usual combos, burritos and fajitas but they also have many very creative dishes as well if you’re tired of the norm. The Molcajetes are amazing. So many different flavors. We’ve tried them all and loved each one of them. Atmosphere: Jalapeño’s is a very family friendly restaurant. There is a bar in the new(er) section where Jerry is usually serving up delicious libations but even this area stays family friendly for the most part(can get a little ruckus later on during the weekend but for the most part it’s a mature crowd so nothing too out of control). There are multiple big screen TVs in this area but you’ll rarely find the sound on for any of them, even when there’s a game on which would have to be my one and only complaint. The décor is really neat and unique. Lots of neat authentic Mexican touches here and there. You can tell the ownership takes great pride in the restaurant. The libations: what would a review of a Mexican restaurant be without reviewing the libations, more specifically the margaritas. I’ll cut right to the chase. If you like a good margarita, ask for a «scratch» margarita and ask them to use one of their fine top shelf 100% agave tequilas(my favorite is the Patron Anejo). You’ll get a margarita made with fresh squeezed juice(and I mean fresh squeezed… Jerry will cut and squeeze the oranges, limes and lemons right on the spot). No mixes or additives go into the scratch margarita. If you just want a house margarita they’re really good as well. They use a 100% agave tequila(I think it’s the blanco Hornitos) in their house margaritas which is pretty awesome as I’ve seen a lot of places use crap like Jose Cuervo gold or whatever in their house margaritas but not Jalapeño’s.

The food used to be a lot better than it is now. Last time I went there and ordered fajitas there was no flavor to any of it. That was the third trip in a row with subpar tasting food. The bartender Jerry is a great guy and been around him almost makes up for the food not being as good as it used to be.

I love this place; the food is always very tasty AND they deliver! They have regular & hot salsa for your chips if you decide to dine in. I would definitely give it a try if you want some good Mexican food.

Best Mexican food in Eagle River, with super attentive service. We like ordering from the a la carte menu for variety without the extras we don’t usually finish(rice and beans). Excellent margaritas.

Cinco de Mayo will never be the same! A friend and I went to lunch to celebrate this wonderful holiday, ended up being a big mistake. Service was mediocre no real complaints. The problem came as we were leaving, and I decided to take one last sip of my diet coke. You know when you take a sip of your drink and you get a little piece of ice, you can swallow it or spit it back into your cup… well on this day I opted to spit it back. ITWASN’T ICE!!! ITWAS A BUG! ANDITWASINMYMOUTH!!! After I regained my composure and my friend killed the unwelcome little black beetle bug, I let the staff know. The response«oh, I’m so sorry you know they are just everywhere, let me know next time you’re here and I’ll give you a discount.» NOTHANKYOU! Side note. a friend of mine has seen them recycle chips! Yep you heard me right, you don’t eat them they dump them back in the bin to be reused!

Best Mexican in Anchorage I’ve found! Worth the drive. Sit at the bar and everyone knows each other and are super friendly. Portion sizes are generous. I’m not a local but travel up to anchorage for business several times per year and love finding hidden gems like this one!

Good food. Not super authentic to me. But I love the food. Chips and Salsa are always so delicious. It is a great place to take the family.

This is our favorite place to go to in Anchorage for Mexican food! It’s definitely not nearly as good as authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, but it still has decent food and quality service! They always provide you with a complimentary basket of chips, and bring both a mild and hot salsa for you to try with it, which I appreciated. The servers here are all extremely attentive and respectful, and their hispanic background gives a sense of authenticity to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The atmosphere is cheery and pleasant without feeling too tacky, so I like it. I’ve always loved Mexican food, and this restaurant definitely provides adequately for my needs while living for a few years up here in Alaska!

Wow this place is awesome! A small group of us decided to come here for dinner on New Years Eve. We arrived around 9 pm and were cheerfully greeted and seated. I must say for New Years eve I felt so welcomed and treated so nicely. I wish I had caught our waitress’ name but she was fantastic. She was funny, caring, patient when we couldn’t decide what to order, and always attentive to what we needed. The food was also very tasty! We were all pretty satisfied with our food. By the way, give their strawberry margaritas a try! They are yum! We ended up staying there until 11:45pm. We simply crossed over to their little bar area. The bartender abs his brother were super cool! They were so outgoing and made this visit just pure fun and good times. We didn’t feel rushed and he would always come around to make sure we liked our drinks. They also seemed to be in great spirit considering it was New Years Eve and 15 min short of the new year. I will definitely be returnin! The ambiance is great and the staff is fantastic! I’m sure if they had some kind of New years eve event it would be pretty awesome because even though we were one of the few patrons there, we had a jolly old time next to the amazing staff.

Pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed Mexican food all the way in Alaska! Far better than the local Mexican chain restaurants we’ve got in Cali. Tamales masa was tender, beef filling was flavorful. Possibly the best Mexican rice i’ve had!
