I moved from Redmond 19 years ago and we sold our house yesterday and all I can think of, is,“please let my favorite bookstore still be there. Please, please please. See the bunny. Be the bunny.” I love this bookstore. Amazon is not for me. Powell’s is great in a pinch because I used to live in Portland and I usually buy enough to make shipping free. But for an adventure, a nice drive in the country, a trip down memory lane, and a really good time, don’t call ! Just go there. I’m coming home to my favorite place to hangout. California is over rated.

Duvall Books is an outstanding, old school book store. And so much more. Besides books, there are hundreds of pictures and artifacts all over the place, starting with the bench out front made out of books. They give competitive prices when they buy your books, and buy back books you bought from them at a reasonable, pre-set price. Their selection is good, it changes all the time, so it’s worth stopping by regularly. They also have used maps, photos and prints, and music scores and instructional materials. The proprietors are friendly and the bathroom is clean. It is a clean, well lighted place and they make it comfortable to browse away a pleasant hour.

Ahh books. They have words and sometimes pictures– you know-like your computer or smart phone. There are many classic finds here. I know a few people who found valuable antique books here for cheap. Speaking of antiques, the inside looks like a museum as there are collectibles from the past all over. It would make the people of Pawn Star jealous. They are great with kids and even give kids free books every Halloween. They also offer gently used DVDs. I will continue to keep coming here as I find older books to be more correct/honest than the internet.

What can I say? Duvall Books is the best! Even if it wasn’t in my backyard, it’d still be one of my favorite bookstores!

I love bookstores and Duvall Books is the perfect small-town bookstore. They have a varied selection of books to suit my eclectic tastes. I often hang out here for hours, sitting and reading, or just shooting the breeze with Mike, the owner. He has a lot of good stories and the store is filled to the rafters with memorabilia documenting the history of Duvall. The place is also decorated with cool art done by local artists(some of whom work at the store.) The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, they can call you if it comes in.(This is quite a trick considering the store famously doesn’t have a phone. How do they do it?!) They don’t take credit cards, but they do offer something most stores don’t: Credit. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked in without a dollar in my pocket and walked out with an armload of books. I always pay my tab promptly, however; bookstores like this are an endangered species and I’m gonna do my level best to make sure it’s around for a long time to come.

I love Duvall Books. It’s a great place to while away a few hours browsing through the shelves, or sitting on a chair in the back with an interesting book. The staff are cool people; many are artists and/or longtime residents of Duvall with interesting stories to tell. They even let you run a tab, which I have never encountered in any other business, period! Plus you can bring your old books in to trade for«new» old books. And if there’s something special you’re looking for, you can let them know what you want and they’ll keep an eye out for you and let you know if it comes in. I do wish they had a bit bigger selection since many times I have gone there looking for something specific and been unable to find it. But on the other hand if they had a bigger selection I don’t think they’d have anywhere to put it, since the books are already packed in almost floor-to-ceiling, only leaving room for their very cool funky décor. All in all one of my favorite bookstores, and also one of my favorite businesses in Duvall.

Excellent selection. Well-curated store with a broad variety of books. The table of new, recommended books always includes several gems. We also enjoy the scenic view along the drive. We are always thrilled with our finds here!

I love used book stores, and Duvall Books is at the top of my list. They are a small store, so they don’t have the selection and inventory of Half Price Books, but they’re great nonetheless. If they don’t have a book that you want, they will take down your information and let you know if it comes in. The staff is knowledgeable about various authors and genres, so if you’re stuck on something be sure to ask them. The prices, as mentioned in another review, are great. I saw one of those old big fancy family Bibles today for only $ 15, and nearly bought a Bram Stoker novel for $ 1.50. In the end I only walked away with a cookbook since I remembered I still had a ton of reading material at home. One of the things that makes this place unique is their Uncle Wiggly and book couch in front of the store. I have no idea where they found those, but I have never seen them at any other bookstores. All in all, if you are a bibliophile, this place is a must!

I’ve been shopping there for 16 years. The staff has literally not changed at all as far as I can tell. It is a great, great bookstore that brings back memories of the kinds of bookstores that are disappearing like mad because of the internet. The selection actually turns over pretty nicely, so there is always a great amount of new/fresh material. Prices are absolutely the best for bookstores. Half Price books feels expensive compared to Duvall Books. They don’t take credit card and as far as I know, still don’t use a phone. It’s old school bookshopping and just fine for me.

My dad’s been shoppin’ at Duvall books since day one… which means he’s been comin’ here for all his used book needs for the last 32 years. As a kid, when we’d be running errands… this was usually a stop along the way. «We’re going to stop at the book store really quick.» he’d say. And I’d sigh for moment(I was 5 or 6), but then I’d remember that they had a huge Uncle Wiggly stuffed rabbit out front and that they always had a lot of really cool stamps and old postcards that I could pick through and look at while he stopped in to see if they had the book he was looking for. My mother found the last of the hard to find issues of his coveted ‘Time Life Books series’ that he’s been collecting for years here last Christmas, and I’ll be stopping in here in the next few weeks to see if I can find him something equally as great. He still comes here. often, I think… as they’ve got really good deals on titles old and new. Mike’s the owner and he knows my dad well, mainly b/c he’s been in here a few times a month for over three decades. If you’re ever in Duvall(tree farms, country livin’… Duvall Days!), I encourage you to stop in and have a walk through. It’s one of the few businesses that’s remained unchanged and under the same name and management. They’ve got thousands of titles, lots of old pictures of Duvall and Carnation– which is a trip in it of itself. It’s quintessential Duvall. Shop here when you’re in town.
