I can’t think of anything that The Makery doesn’t have. Located between Motorco and Geer Street Gardens, The Makery is Mercury Studios retail space, selling only locally, North Carolina made products. Mercury Studios is a co-working space, previously located around the corner from Durham’s newest restaurant Dashi, but moved to inhabit Motorco’s back space in February of this year. Most of the vendors that are showcased in The Makery have a work space next door in Mercury Studios. So most of the products locally made in house and the space is well put together and shows off a variety incredible artists and artisans. Whether you’re looking for tea towels for your kitchen, baby«accessories», NC T’s, fashionable artwork, jewelry or beauty products(the list goes on!), The Makery will have you covered. This is the perfect place to stop to pick up a gift for any occasion or just stop in when you’re in the DIY district. The Makery is currently featuring«What He Sees» featured illustrations by Evan McIntyre, and you’ve got to check it out(exhibit ends on March 31st). Not only do they promote shopping locally, but they also showcase one of their talented artisans every month. This is a wonderful addition to the DIY district, a quick and convenient stop for locals and tourists alike, and one that you won’t want to miss out on!
