Went with a coworker to Wayback Burgers for lunch and was not impressed. I ordered the Carolina Burger which was topped with cheese, slaw, chili, onions and mustard. I made it a combo with french fries and a drink. Total: almost $ 10. Dislikes — they have Pepsi products here. My burger patty was smushed so much when it was cooked that it was falling apart. Slow service. To make it a combo, the price was nearly $ 4. I would have been happier at McDonald’s.

I love this place. Good juicy burgers and the best chips!!! Generous portion of Chips. I have had their food several times and the quality is consistent. If you haven’t tried it then it is highly recommended.

I went here yesterday to try it out. Saw the ad on Facebook and figured I would check it out. We went after picking my sister up from school and it wasn’t a busy lunch time. We ordered and any open tables were nasty. They called a ladies name who was no longer there… which should have been my first clue but I figured maybe they had stepped outside. After all, the space is very small and cramped and everyone is tripping over each other behind the grill and on customer side. I waited 45 minutes at a fast food restaurant with no food to show. I allowed for extra time knowing they had an ad on Facebook. I went inside to check on what was going and all the same people there when I got there didn’t have food either. I requested my money back and spoke to the manager. I wrote a review on Facebook also were he wrote a review of them and gave 5 stars. He also wrote his own review on here. I recognized him from his picture on Facebook. Pretty disappointing experience.

I went with a friend at their suggestion because they were craving a burger. For what I paid, I expected a real piece of chicken when I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, what I got was similar to what’s offered on the value menu at Burger King. My friends burger looked alright, though she didn’t make any extraordinary comments about it.

Had plenty of staff on hand and only a few people eating and for some reason it took 30 minutes to get one single hotdog and I had to approach them to find out what was taking so long. Nothing peeves me more than seeing people who came after me get their food first. I’m giving the extra star because the hotdog was pretty good, but definitely not worth the $ 4 they charge for it.

Yesterday was our first time in the state of North Carolina! After checking into our hotel I googled what was nearby to eat & found this place. There were two young guys working. The guy at the counter with gold teeth was very friendly & suggested the philly burger & red velvet milkshake to me. Although the wait was a little lengthy(we weren’t in a hurry) the food was pretty good! I would come back :)!

Burgers are delicious! The buns are very reminiscent of Hawaiian sweet bread. The chips are house made and made to a perfect crisp. Why 2 stars? The last two times it has taken over 20 minutes to get the burger… This should be closer to a fast food restaurant and waiting 20 minutes for a simple order is unacceptable.

Came for lunch and it was packed. The burger was ok. The meat was good but the bun was way too soft in my opinion. I love the milk shake, it was the boom. The service was good, friendly and helpful. Great place to visit for quick meal.

This is NOT California. Food ok but pricy for a burger joint… In and Out still better and cheaper…

Really wanted my experience to be better but it fell short. Burger came wrong twice after getting my remake I just had to deal with it. Not fully impressed with their ability to communicate special requests. However the errors were minor and overall my burger was still better than any other fast food.

Good food, just don’t expect a table weekdays during lunch. They were super busy. Combo was just over 10.00, tad more than I expected.

The burger is so so. it’s better than Mc. Donald but not the best. The store is clean and the services are a little slow. The staffs are friendly and helpful. I ordered the kid’s cheese hamburger and it was huge. If you are looking for something fast and good to eat, this is the place.

When i think of a burger joint, i think of juicy all beef patties, nice soft buns, golden fried fries/onion rings, and milk shakes… it must have milk shakes. If this is your idea of a burger joint, then you will love Jake’s Wayback Burgers. I went for lunch and the line was out the door… thats the first sign that good food awaits!!! I order the classic Wayback(2 patties) and a small fry. Very tasty… the patties were nice and juicy on a golden bun… the fries were fresh with a bit of crisp. I was in burger and fry heaven!!!

Been to this location twice. The 1st time was on a weekday for lunch. I had the Double Bacon Jake and Onion Rings. After waiting a little more than 5 minutes, it was time to eat. The Dbl Bacon Jake was very good. The patties were smashed a little thinner then a Wendy’s burger, but it was hot off the grill and delicious. The Onion Rings were better then most fast food places. Of course that isn’t saying much due to the lack of home made styles out there. The Rings were hot and crispy and delicious. 1st visit was 5 stars. Then came the 2nd visit. Wanted to try a shake. A mistake. Should have just left with the memory of the 1st visit. For the 2nd visit I went for dinner on a Saturday. The place was busy at the 6:30 time. This visit I ordered a Carolina Jake, Full Order of French Fries and a plain Chocolate Shake. The shake was ready 1st taking about 5 minutes. The Carolina Jake burger & Fries took about 10 – 15 minutes. Good thing I had water to drink or the Shake would have been gone. The Carolina Jake was like being in the Carolinas, forgettable. The Fries were hot and crispy and delicious. But if I wanted to wait that long for a burger, I would go to Burger King. Oh, and the Chocolate Shake was really forgettable. Steak n’ Shake and Cook Out make far better Shakes. So as I mentioned, the 2nd visit was barely 2 stars. Hopefully just the wrong day and time.

If you like 5-Guys, you’ll probably like Jake’s. That’s not suggesting it’s exactly the same other than you get a tasty burger with a wide selection of toppings that doesn’t taste like it was made at a FF joint like McD or BK or any of those others. Yes, you pay a little more than the FF joints, but come on, this is a hybrid of sorts between FF& short order with better food and friendlier staff who will bring your food to you instead of having you wait for it at the end of a counter. It’s slightly more service oriented than FF places. Burger of the month is a Frankenburger(Halloween theme?) and now that I know what it is, I expect I’ll make one for my tween the next time she’s fixin’ to have a burger, or I’ll just make an executive decision to bring her & my bride here. Good burgers, okay fries, great selection of additions to the burgers. When it’s busy, as in «ROCKin’ so hard, holy crap I can’t breathe busy», the tabletops might get neglected a bit as far as needing to be wiped down and sanitized. SMALL place, but yes, they have outdoor seating as well.

The only problem I can think of in regards to this place is that they are too far from my house! Great burgers and a not so fussy seating area. We’ll be back… if we ever get this far away from home again :)

Saw a coupon for this in our clipper magazine and thought why not? We hadn’t tried it and thought a bit out of our way would be worth the free burger deal. I am certainly glad we did. Located just off 540 in what appears to be a newer shopping center with your typical walmart, it was well worth the gas and calories. Both Hubby and I had the cheesy jake burger 2 patties with mayo and onions and mine just cheese. Mud pie shake which had Oreo crumbles on the bottom. Pretty standard fries made better by great chili and cheese. Combo prices available. The grilled bread was no soggy and great as they butter it. Each month they have a special shake and burger that is not on the standard menu. It’s definitely something to look forward to and try on our next visit. No regrets on wasting the calories here! My only wish is that there is one closer to where I live so I can visit more often
