Food is great. Great prices. Drinks get refilled with reasonable time. It does get packed because it is popular. Lines more quick and servers are quick. Great for family and groups.

STAYAWAY, RUN, DONOTENTER! Reviewed Unilocal with my 12yo son to see if we should give Jade buffet or C&H cafeteria a shot. Decided we would look at the cafeteria food and then look at Jade. Upon entering, the entrance area smelled so bad, I thought someone died in there. It smelled like a dirty nursing home, like a elderly diaper with wet and other things. I looked at my son, and he said«mommy, we gotta get out of here». I opened the door, followed a long hall, that lead to a practically empty dining area, and a chain blocking the entrance to the food area. I told my son, I’m not buying anything in here, but I just want to see what the heck is going on in here, possible answer to that horrific smell that wouldn’t quit even after entering, and then get out. Never smelled food, saw one worker with a white uniform on and hat, and Noone ever addressed us. Couldn’t figure out why the chain blocked entry and we held our noses as we got outta there fast! 0 stars, but it made me give 1. Gross!!!

I have dinner here most Sundays. The food is cafeteria food, but always fresh and tastey. I try to get in around 5:30 and there is virtually no line at that time. The country style steak with mashed potatoes and gravy is a favorite. I also enjoy the very hearty turkey and dressing. The staff is very friendly and always welcomes me with a smile and a «How are you?» Good southern food!

My first visit here was in 2008& for some reason, I did not return until this year. Had my third visit this year today and it was very good. Salads were fresh; grilled fish & veggies tasty & my wife liked the cake. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable. We will return when we are in Northgate area.

Myself and two others visited here at approx 730 and the availability of food was below poor. I got fried chicken and the chicken was cold so I requested another and I was told it would be 30 minutes. Where in the world does it take 30 minutes for fried chicken? I’m not so sure about this place anymore I have been here countless times o error the years but it has fell off at dome point.

The food here is excellent but, if you come after church you will have a wait. It took about twelve minutes to got through the line and halfway threw I wanted to leave. I could not because the place was very busy. At the serve line I ran into another problem. They were so busy that I was left standing in line with nothing on my tray, staring at food. When I finally got threw, after a line supervisor show me waiting for a main dish to a worker, I saw that the food looked very appetizing and appealing. They had a wide verity, from comfort food to slightly more high end food like chicken cisco. I came with my parents and my father had beef liver, harbor beets, rice, and cornbread. My mother had the afore mentioned chicken cisco with a cesar salid. I had country style steak with rice, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Let me say the only reason this review is three stars is because of the crowded environment and the fact of the service. That said, if this was just for the food it would be a four star. The food was great. It will take a bit of looking to find a seat but, look at it as a testament to the food there. That’s why it’s so crowded.

We were out shopping. We needed to stop for lunch. We wanted to go somewhere nearby we’d never been … so we jumped in line at the C & H Cafeteria. Décor: It’s a cafeteria. Don’t go there for the ambiance. The good news is that it’s clean and I didn’t see much wear and tear. Crowd: You’ll see –everybody– there. Young, old, families, singles, blue collar workers, white collar workers, black, white and everyone in between. Service: The line moved pretty fast. The servers were quick to get whatever you wanted. The recently vacated seats were bussed quickly so we had no trouble finding a table. My glass of sweet tea never made it to the halfway empty point. Food: I was impressed with the variety of dishes they offered. I had trouble deciding what I wanted but ultimately went with the stuffed pepper and a garden salad. I just got those two items because the stuffed pepper was enormous and came with pasta in a tomato sauce. It was essentially a giant meatball inside a green pepper. The sauce was just a tad sweet for my tastes, but overall it was good. The salad was what a salad should be. My friend got the chopped steak, a garden salad, and a couple of sides — turnip greens and green beans. He was happy with his meal. It’s nothing spectacular, but the variety is nice and the prices are reasonable. I’d go back again for a quick«no-frills» lunch.

Typical cafeteria food. Cheap prices, lots of older people. Starchy, fried, and wiggly jello

Tonight I went to C&H Cafeteria where normally, the food is good. For the first time, they had chicken n dumplings on their menu. I thought I would give them a try along with a dish of tomatoes/sweet yellow corn/lima beans. Long story short, the dumplings were tough and fully cooked, there was a clear broth instead of a creamy broth of normal chicken n dumplings and there wasn’t even one chunk of chicken meat in the bowl. Just a wee bit of shredded chicken sitting on top of half– cooked dumplings in a plain chicken broth. The individual serving size of tomato succotash tasted like someone had dumped three entire teaspoons of sugar in it. It was so sweet, you could not taste the tomatoes, corn or the lima beans. If someone wanted sugar on their food, there is a sugar shaker on the every table to allow any individual to put as much as they want on their own serving. Why mess up an entire batch for those that want to truly taste the veggies, not cover them up with sugar?
