My co workers and I stayed here for a week and it was just perfect! The new owners of this motel are wonderful! The beds are amazing and an especially cool surprise when you turn on the shower head! Everything was clean and quite. Please don’t try to compare this motel to a Hilton or anything of that status. This is not that type of Hotel. It is an exceptionally priced motel with attentive owners and staff who take pride in what they do. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!!!

Knight’s Inn was purchased by a new owner in March who is working hard to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. Yes the rooms are small and there are still cosmetic upgrades to be made but the owner has done a lot in a short time. Beds are new and comfortable, television new with good variety of channels for vegging before bed. Silly but memorable feature for me was shower head that lit up and changed colors. Owners son was welcoming at check-in & when asked offered a great suggestion for dinner. No it isn’t a luxury resort but there is so much beautiful scenery in the area why would someone need a resort. I would much rather support a family run business where I feel welcomed than pay double for a big chain that can be hit and miss. I can only say it’s hard picking a place site unseen with so many various opinions but I’m happy with my choice.

This is a great stay, especially for the price. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly! The hotel recently got a new owner who we met during breakfast-he is making some great improvements such as adding a breakfast, already replacing all of the beds with new mattresses, and he’s currently replacing the TVs. Also was very friendly and gave us some great restaurant and hiking recommendations. I’ll be back and i would definitely recommend it.

Great place to stay for the price! Room was clean and ready when we arrived. Bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. We mentioned on our way out that our only complaint was the pillows and they said they have ordered new pillows for all the rooms. Definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune but wants a clean comfortable place to sleep.

I think folks on here have too high of expectations with regards to cheap motels. II thought this place was just fine for the price. It’s a simple no frills kinda place. They are dog friendly, the bed was comfy, the couple who I think are the owners at the front are really nice– they seem to be renovating the place. There was coffee in the morning. The rooms have a fridge and a microwave. I never felt unsafe here. The room wasn’t perfect but nothing terrible. We payed $ 65 which included our dog. The only big con is that our door wasnt sealed really and the curtains don’t shut well. If your a non snooty travelin type this place will suit you just fine.

The hotel is old, dated décor and in need of some renovation. Doors are keyed which does cause some concern regarding security. Bathroom window was decrepit with a frosted film that you can kind of see through from the street behind the hotel. There are plastic chairs on the walk in front of the rooms & people sit out there smoking. We were in a «non-smoking» room & we did smell smoke. The pillows were paper thin & the bedding was old & worn. Our AC worked although it was rather loud. Considering the prices of some of the other options available, it was a less expensive alternative with no frills.

YIKES! we stayed here for 2 nights and I was disgusted the whole time! It’s very old and dirty, the rooms are small and the rooms are very cold! The heater is loud and does not help heating up the bathrooms whatsoever. The showers were very hard and hurt while taking a shower. The worst is that the OJ was expired and sour when we tried drinking it. The breakfast was horrible since they only had tiny muffins, waffles and oatmeal. Never tried the waffles since I was over the breakfast once we touched the OJ. It is close to a lot of grocery stores and activities but I would rather spend more money than staying here another time! Yikes

If you’re looking for a motel in this price range you should expect to not get much. This place is very dated. After several attempts to get the A/C unit going I finally succeeded. Yet the room stayed pretty stale. I noticed one of the windows wouldn’t close. I’m just glad no bugs got in. If you simply need a bed to sleep in for the night this place has at least that. And since Durango isn’t too big you can still get everywhere pretty easily.

I don’t really have anything bad to say about this place except that it’s really old. I mean, really old. It could use a lot of updating … That being said, the staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. When I accidentally locked my key in my room, I went to the desk to ask for another and she knew what room I was in without saying. That’s service! Staying here is an affordable option if you’re just looking for a place to sleep. There is no gym, the coffee isn’t very good, & the breakfast is mediocre at best. But it is affordable and clean. If I can’t get a reservation elsewhere next time I’m in town, I wouldn’t mind crashing here again. Pro: Fridge, microwave, clean linens Con: some rooms are REALLY small, bring your own hairdryer, eat your own breakfast — tip! Durango Doughworks down the street has AWESOME breakfast.

our room was nice… renovated… ALTHOUGH the internet booking service we used charged us $ 30!!! first time that has happened to us… go direct to the motel. we were travelling with some friends… that got a cheaper room and it was just HORRID. so, make sure you check out the digs before you check in.

Ugh. 2 stars because at least it’s reasonably clean. Otherwise it would be 1. Room was $ 80 a night with AAA discount. Everything in the room is at least 40 years old, except the paint, which hasn’t been freshened in 25 years. There’s a free breakfast, but it’s inedible waffles. And some tiny muffins. We will never stay here again.

To start, this is not a 4 to 5 star hotel, but as far as Motels go, this one is pretty nice. My husband and I got a late start on our trip to Durango from Denver so we arrived at almost 1AM. There are two Knights Inn‘s which we were unaware of, so we accidentally went to the wrong one first(they are both on Main St. As are all the hotels/motels in Durango) and unnecessarily woke up the other night grounds keeper. He was pleasant enough about it and directed us to the other motel we had actually made a reservation at. Once we got to the right location the second night grounds keeper was extremely nice and accommodating. We got a room key-like a REAL key– which is kind of cool. The room itself was nice, very clean. The window was a little thin so allowed for outside noise like traffic but it didn’t keep us from sleeping. Very efficient heater that DIDN’T SMELLFUNNY! So that was very nice. The bed was medium firm and we both slept quite comfortably. All in all great stay and I would recommend it to anyone on a budget. In one sentence, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced.

This place is now the Knight’s Inn. I think that was mentioned in another review. My fiancé and I were looking for a cheap, decent place to stay while visiting Durango, and this spot fit the bill. It’s a bit old, but well maintained. The beds are not the best but didn’t bother our sleep much. It took us a bit to figure out the swamp cooler in the room, but once we did the temperature stayed nice. Shower pressure was good, but the tub did not drain especially quickly. The location’s a bit north of the downtown action, but just a short drive away. For the price, it was a good place to stay. Just don’t expect luxury.

After a mix up with our reservation at another hotel in town, we were referred to this place as they are pet friendly($ 8/day fee). Alpine Inn is on the North End of Durango. There isn’t much action on this side of town in regards to dining or nightlife, but the quiet is very nice. We stayed in August, which is very busy, and paid about $ 60/night(with a AAA discount, not including pet fee and tax). This was almost $ 40 less/night than our reservation elsewhere in town. At the AI, all rooms have outside entrances. It is important to note that if you are looking for a place full of amenities, this isn’t your best bet in town. However, if you are looking for a clean, quiet, inexpensive and/or pet friendly place to sleep, this is your stop. All rooms do have A/C, TV and Phone, but you will have to bring your own hair dryer and borrow the iron from the front desk if needed. They do have microwaves and small fridges in each room, which is a HUGE plus as it means you can have your own snacks, and maybe not spend as much time eating out. The AI does offer some donuts and coffee in the morning, and they do have toothpaste in each room, which is a bonus in my book. They do offer free Wi-Fi, but we did notice that the signal at times was patchy depending on where we were in our room. The AI is an older hotel. Some of the rooms have been remodeled, but others have not(particularly ones where they put people with pets). But, the sheets were clean, and the bathrooms were spotless, so the age wasn’t a huge issue to us. The staff here was very friendly and very helpful. If you don’t spend a lot of time in your room(which you shouldn’t when you visit Durango) this is a great place to lay your head at night, or take naps during the day. If you demand only the finer things in life, this place is not for you.
