Called for lunch with my husband he decided on a breakfast omelet which he really enjoyed and I chose the French dip sandwich, my chips were a bit dry and bland my sandwich was good but the au jus was very salty Coke was never empty Overall this place was good, very cool looking place with good selection of food, I would of liked to try breakfast here The guy in there is doing a great job cooking, taking orders, serving food and taking bookings for the next door inn Would recommend if your In the area

We stopped here late after a long drive up the middle of California because it was one of the only restaurants still open, and it was delicious. I had a well cooked burger with all the stuff on it I like, and my it was really good, but my wife had a French Dip, and it was AMAZING. The fries were hot and fresh, too. We’d definitely stop here again on our way up to see family.

sweet place right off I5. Open 24⁄7 too eat in this replica of a 50s dinner complete with oldies playing in the background. Robbie was very friendly while providing fast efficient service and tasty food. I will be back next time I drive through. might try the Oaktree motel too.

Eh! Expecting something good but disappointed. Ordered a milkshake to be shared. They brought it in one glass and my husband had to drink from the metal container. I asked for a glass and got a blank stare. Seemed like a scene out of Twin Peaks. Sort of creepy. Fries best part of the meal so that doesn’t say much. Definitely not worth a return visit.

Really good food. The cook and the hotel check-in are the same so expect a small wait. We enjoyed the French Toast(breakfast is served all day) and a Farmer’s Salad. Totally a great place to stop by and grab a bite to eat when travelling!

We stopped by here on the way to Oregon. Just don’t bother! The pancakes doesn’t taste like real pancakes. I had to hold my breath just to eat it because it tasted so gross. The customer service was bad as well!

Great surprise find. We stopped in on a Sunday when everything else was closed and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our eggs were cooked perfectly and our chef/waiter/host/credit card runner was the bomb. We were super impressed that he was a one man show. Even found time to warm our coffees twice in the midst of doing everything. And the restaurant itself was so retro and fun. Very much what Johnny Rockets wishes it was. We’ll be stopping by again very soon.

First off, FREEWIFI. Secondly, cool retro 50’s style architecture. Finally great food. Wife had the Fat City French dip sandwich with fries, and a root beer, I had the hot pastrami sandwich with fries and water to drink. Both sandwiches were very tasty. The fries are fresh made from potatoes, not frozen pre made from a bag. Our total bill was $ 23. This was a one man show, he cooked, cleaned, bussed tables, cashiered and more… but he did it all effectively and at 100%. We will for sure being going back to try other menu items. BTW, they are open 24⁄7 even on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years according to a sign by the door.

Good, quick, friendly service. Awesome choices, located off I5, clean, retro 50s style. I’d recommend this diner.

Stopped in after a long day of driving. The cook, Mike, was awesome, joking with customers, and making everyone feel relaxed. Our food took no time, and was delicious. Philly cheesesteak on a big soft roll was great. Oh and for only 1 person working as cook, cashier, busser and host, the place was super clean. Impressive. If we lived closer, I’d definitely frequent this place.

Your cook tonight was exceptionally rude. He yelled when we went in about needing to take a break and it never fails that he has to work when he needs a break. He also smiled and waved happily to us as we drove off. I’m a local and this used to be one of my favorite restaurants, we come at least twice a week. Not any more. Good bye Penny’s

Whataya know? A 50s diner popping up from outa no where. It kinda reminds me of a big ol’ airstream camper. So the interior is a little prefabby, but it’s nice with beautiful views of the trees on the hillside out the windows. Now for the best part – the food couldn’t be better. Honest to gawd, that was the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had! The gravey was fresh, the batter on the steak was light and fluffy, the steak and eggs were cooked to perfection, and the coffee was just right. Yum!

Somewhat unappetizing when you can see the cook’s butt crack! Food was okay if you can get past that.

Ate here twice while staying at Oak Tree Inn with the girlfriend… had the Hotrodder Chicken Sandwich(which was good, could be a little more spicey) and the Chilaquiles(they ran out of refried beans, but I substituted Chile instead, turned out excellent). She had the Grilled Veggie and Cheese and the Veggie scramble(she’s a veggitarian and she liked them both). Coffee is weak here and service can be slow to refill water or coffee(it was in the evening due to one person running the diner). Overall, i would come here again.

Not very sanitary. Kitchen was a disaster, trash over flowing in the sink. Chef left to go out side and came back to continue cooking and didn’t wash hands. There was a cleaning bottle and rag next to a sandwich while making for a customer.

The food here was excellent! Robbie the cook was a super nice guy. My husband had a breakfast burrito with everything. The veggies were cooked so they still had a crunch and the tortilla was perfectly crisped.

Stopped there on a road trip with my family. It was the only thing open for miles at that time of night. We drove up and the place was cool looking, very retro. It’s some sort of trailer looking structure, but very clean and well lit. We were the only ones there and we soon realized that there was only one person working. She was the hostess, server, cook and cashier. She was also the phone operator for the hotel on the same property. It was actually very entertaining to watch her do everything. My kids and I were respectfully cracking up at the whole scene. We joked that she was probably also the Police Chief and the Mayor :) Their menu was pretty extensive, so we all found something we wanted. The food took long(for obvious reasons), but it was decent. Nothing to write home about, but pretty much what you would expect from a small Diner. I would stop again, if I was passing through late at night.

Stopped here on a road trip since everything in Denmuir was closed. The place looked cool; classic retro diner style complete with shiny stainless steel exterior and corny Elvis memorabelia on the walls. The food was simply horrible. Everything we ate was either cold, stale or wilted, and it took the cook a good 20 minutes before we were informed that one of our orders wasn’t available. It also didn’t help that we got to watch the only person working wander around the kitchen confused. He was nice enough, but when he said«do you need anything else or can I go smoke a cigarette», we couldn’t help but laugh. Can’t recommend this place!
