AMAZING! Martha makes/bakes her goods with real butter & lard. I’ve never experienced anything as blissful as her pastries. Delicious!

The chief baker and proprietor is a good friend of my girlfriend’s niece(got that?), so we made an effort to head over from Northfield to check them out. They are only open on Friday and Saturday mornings at this point, but they had a good flow of customers at 10 o’clock on a Saturday. There were a dozen or more selections, including a made-from-scratch yellow cake with a buttercream frosting(I had to try), 3 types of cookies, a few savory croissants, 3 types of turnovers(one with a coconut cream filling), bear claws, almost pastry, and an apricot pastry that they call sunny side up because it kind of looks like an egg set into a pastry cup. They also offered soup and a light brunch/lunch menu, but we were there for the sweet stuff. The café is neat and clean, with a double door so the cold air doesn’t penetrate very far. Sit by the windows to stay away from the traffic by the counter.
