It wasn’t at all «blackened» AT ALL but it was seasoned good. Food was hot and fresh. $ 8.79

The coleslaw is good. I’m concerned about the service. I didn’t feel welcome. I asked for water and I had to remind the server. I’ll leave the rest of my thoughts to myself. I haven’t here in years and the dynamics have changed.

Ah! The taste of my childhood! I love this place! Always tasty fish and their prices are decent for fish, sometimes a little pricey for «fast food» fish. But that is the only real «complaint.» The gems of this place are the employees. They are always super nice when we come in for dinner. I’m absolutely delighted that with the egress of business from this town, they still are here.
The fish is cooked fresh and when we order sides they always are piping hot! Absolutely love the fried pickles! I definitely recommend if you are craving fish and happen to be in the area!

There aren’t that many of these left and luckily this location has been here since before Duncanville was founded. (it seems like) They have been putting out descent food for a long time now. I like them alot better then Long Johns that’s for sure.
The outside could use a tune up, but don’t let it fool you. Inside has always been kept up with the times. The food is usually hot and fresh to order. Well the main parts. Sides probably not so much. But they do have a good selection of sides. Corn, mac n cheese, broccoli, coleslaw, etc etc.
Price wise they can be a little proud but there are usually coupons in the mail for the area that you can use. And if you join there Captain D’s email you get a free meal for your birthday.
So if your in the area and are craving some fish (fried or grilled) stop on by and enjoy yourself.

Usually it does not take that long but this time the wait for my food was extremely long. I guess since I ordered something different from their seafood menu that they must not have memorized it’s taking a long time.

The food was very good and what I expected it to be, however the restaurant wasn’t the cleanest. The service was actually exceptional and unexpected, IE drink refill request, salt or pepper, etc. The bathroom was a freakin’ disaster if I’ve ever seen one! I ordered the Fish and Shrimp with a Sweet Tea.

Have not had Captain D’s in a few years. Went by this location tonight and was happy I did. Got a to go order. The personnel was nice. My order was made quickly… and the food was great. Love the hush puppies …

Just off the highway. I was seeking some great fried hushpuppies and fish?
Stopped here, went inside. Clean restaurant. Customer service not great. Food fantastic. Hushpuppies crunchy outside, creamy lightly seasoned inside. You can tell they use clean grease. Fries were nice and crisp as if they fried them twice like high dollar restaurants. Fish was hot and fresh. Still steaming which I appreciated because I know it was not sitting there all day.
This is the third time over the course of a year that I have visited and they nail it each time. Oh and the price is more than reasonable for all the products they offer.
The salmon and rice-​great; fried green tomatoes-​great; vegetables-​subpar.
Please visit for some well cooked better than Long John Silver’s fixings!

Had I known they had grilled items and I’d actually tried one of them they might have ranked an extra star. But alas my parents (who aren’t really into grilled food items) picked up the dinner without any input from me. The country style fish is good (stay AWAY from the battered fish – I used to love it as a kid but I got some about 4 ½ years ago and it was so gross and greasy and heavy that I was hideously sick the next morning after eating it and I haven’t touched that style of Captain D’s fish since). The hushpuppies are nice and the seafood stuffed crab shells are a great compliment to the fish.
