Comfort Inn Duncansville – Altoona

It was a holiday weekend and they gave us a good room the same day we needed one! The view as very nice, with a BBQ grill and picnic tables outside next to their creek. Other guests used this and left the place spotless after. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and clean. The room was cool. and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again when in Altoona. Clerks were great and the free breakfast was good, too!

Nice collection of complimentary amenities for a hotel at this price range including wifi that works, free newspaper, well-​managed and well-​stocked breakfast, pool and hot tub, pool area is well-​maintained, exercise room, micro-​fridge in the room, clean common areas, and courteous staff. Yes, I consider those last two amenities that you don’t always get as a hotel customer.
The building and rooms are standard and what you’d expect, but good attention to detail by the staff makes this hotel stand out among other similarly priced hotels. Recommended if you’re in the Altoona area.

I stayed at this hotel and thought it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. My room was extremely clean and comfortable. It was very hot during my stay but the air conditioning functioned quietly and efficiently. The bed and pillows were comfortable and there were plenty of clean towels. The front desk clerk wasn’t always present — she seemed to lurk behind the counter but somehow knew when I waited at the desk for her and then appeared. She was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions as to where to eat and get some supplies. I tried out the hot tub — it was quite hot !! — and there were plenty of clean towels. The internet functioned well and the room had a nice mini-​fridge. Overall, a pretty great hotel stay from a budget hotel. Whenever I’m back in the area, this will be the new place I stay. I’m not the only one: other coworkers stayed there and said it was great, too.

According to their website, they are the best comfort inn in Pennsylvania. I am not sure why such high marks.
My room never had any «Do Not Disturb» tag so they kept coming to clean my room then leaving notes about how there were too many personal items on the bed so they couldn’t make the bed I was not sleeping in. I don’t care. I unpacked suitcase on one bed and slept in the other. I was indifferent. In my mind, I would have happily put the DND tag on and let it go all week so they wouldn’t rifle through my things (I saw Maid in Manhatten — you aren’t going to fool me!).
The side entrance didn’t have any security during the day. It «locked» at 11 PM. During the day time, this and the front entrance were accessible to anyone on the street. Many times, the front desk was left completely unattended with a sign stating that they were helping another guest. With such lax security, I felt a little uncomfortable knowing that anyone could come in and pick the lock on my room unsuspected.
The final two days of my stay, the elevator was no longer working. Fortunately, I had brought a very small bag that I could easily carry down. I am not sure how often this happens but I could definitely see this being a serious problem.
