It comes with a heavy heart that I have to encourage all of you not to visit this restaurant. As you can see, I loved this restaurant ever since it opened 7 years ago. I literally grew up eating here, but all good things must come to an end. You may think that it’s dramatic I had to downgrade my rating so much, but I believe it’s warranted for three reasons: terrible customer service, much less generous portions and a dated décor. Terrible Customer Service Service has never been exemplary at this local restaurant. But over the past few years, Joy(co-owner) simply doesn’t care. You asked for water with lemon? I’ll bring you water filled with 80% ice and no lemon and you’ll never get a refill. You asked for a check? Wait patiently at your table for 20 minutes. On top of that, a friend of mine who worked as a waitress there told me all the gratuity goes directly to the owners; those teenage waitresses receive $ 0 for their service to you. It’s gotten so lackadaisical and terrible that I resorted to ordering take-out the past year. And the service for take out is no better either. At separate times, they forget to give me chopsticks, soup and rice. Less Generous Portions Over the past few trips, portion sizes have definitely decreased. Order the Hwe Dub Bap and you clearly notice that there this a lot less sashimi and a lot more lettuce. Order the spicy salmon roll and you can see there’s less salmon now. I’ve also noticed that the restaurant no longer gives you complimentary fruit. Dated Décor The décor has not changed in this restaurant since it first opened. And its age clearly shows in the table and chairs you’re sitting in, the dirty plastic cups you’re drinking, and the chipped plates you’re eating off of. Most Recent Experience But what set me off to write this review is my most recent experience. I ordered take-out for a Hwe Dub Bap and a Spicy Salmon Roll. I came, waited a few minutes, and was told by the waitresses working there that i would get soup and salad for my Hwe Dub Bap. The owner comes around after a few minutes, speaks to the girls in Korean and then tells me that Hwe Dub Bap does not come with salad because«there’s too much salad in the Hwe Dub Bap already». First off, the menu specifically says that dinner specials(which the Hwe Dub Bap was listed under) includes both soup and salad. And secondly, who are you to tell me how much salad is considered too much salad? I point out that the menu clearly states I’m entitled to a salad. I tell him I’ve been a customer for years. I tell him I’ve never had trouble with this in the past. He tells me he’s the owner, and that even though it says it on the menu, it doesn’t, and has never, come with salad. A blatant lie. Great. At that point, my girlfriend is fed up with this nonsense and asks for a refund. I tell him it was a shame this had to happen and we would never be dining at the restaurant again. He tells us we’re bothering him by saying that. Long story short, Well-Being Sushi has been on the decline for the past few years. Their terrible service, smaller portions, and dated décor, combined with an arrogant owner, lost an extremely dedicated customer.

Good sushi, not too expensive. I really like that they give you 3 pieces per order for sashimi and the fact that they have a small udon soup on the appetizer menu. Small restaurant so if you’re going on the weekends go early or go later, around 8 – 8:30. Also, word to the wise, when they say 15 – 20 minutes for take out they usually mean like 30 – 45. But otherwise its probably one of my most visited and most liked sushi spots in the area.

Food is good — but service is HORRIBLE. Staff is very rude. Restaurant is FILTHY dirty. Lots of boxes and storage visible to guests. Behind the register and everywhere else is so dirty.

If I’m feeling sushi, this is my go-to; the food is consistently good and the portions are huge! You can’t go wrong with any of their special rolls, and the bento boxes are great as well. My favorite thing to get is the Hwe Dub Bap, which is actually a Korean dish of rice, veggies, sashimi, and Korean hot sauce.

Coming once a week, this is our best ever«home base» sushi! Always fresh and yummy! Our guests from all around the world are familiar with it as we make sure to bring them with us whenever they come! The Volcano sushi is the MASTERPIECE !!! OMG soooo gooood!!! Their Udon soup is a must! And for those who are not into sushi — their Yaki Suba noodles with chicken are WOW!

This place was great! I probably sound generous as I’ve been posting a lot of 3s and 4s lately but it was great pricing, attentive waitress and generous food. I had 3 rolls, a spicy tuna, salmon and valentine — all the rolls were well stuffed and tasted very fresh. I’ve been to a few places where the rolls are huge but the fish tastes like mop water… can’t fix that with all the soy in the world lol. Big parking lot always a plus. It would be nice if there were booze or BYOB options but former Unilocal reviews did not mention the option so I errored on the side of a booze free dinner. The end.

I’m a bit disappointed. I came to this place because I’ve heard many good things about well-being and after reading the reviews and seeing the 4 stars on Unilocal I was excited to try it out. We entered through the back and seated ourselves. Our waitress came 5 minutes later to give us a menu. It took a while to place an order although there was no one really in the restaurant. And when I asked if they had more spicy seasoning the waitress just looked at the other tables that and gave me another empty bottle. Anyway, my girlfriend ordered the super spider roll and I ordered the 3 sushi combo. I must say the super spider roll was delicious! And huge! But the spicy crab and spicy tuna I ordered was literally just tuna and crab with spicy mayo on top. A lot of spicy mayo! I’m not impressed. Service was ehh. Sushis were big but could have been better. And my salad portion that came with my meal was literally a leaf! At least they gave a free fried California but deep frying the sushi took away from the flavor and ruined the roll.

My initial trip to this place wasn’t a very good experience: I placed an order for takeout about 30 minutes before pick-up and still had to wait about 30 minutes longer when I went there. It was peak dinner time and the place was crowded so although I didn’t like the additional wait, I guess I have to try to be understanding. I have since gone back several times and have consistently ordered their French Kiss roll. It consists of a combination of yellow tail, tuna and salmon inside the roll topped with the same on top. And the roll is big with a lot of fish! I initially ordered 2 rolls for myself and my wife. My mistake. Their special rolls are about 2 to 3 times large than any standard elsewhere. Now that I know, when I’m just craving sushi, on FK roll is just enough to share between two.

Very meh! Overpriced for what u get. I don’t want any free fried stuff. Just a normal portion of what I paid for. Sushi is miniature really did not satisfy.

Just an average… sushi and sashimi were warm to taste and some of them didn’t taste fresh. Overall, I wouldn’t come back but what it needs is that last 2%…it lacks detail and attention… for example our ginger was so dried it looked like it was outside for couple hours. We ate without a single ginger. It just needs last bits of attention to detail and quality…

Have been here twice and got different rolls both times. Very impressed with the quality! Free miso soup or small salad on the house. And they sent out a free tempura roll halfway through dinner. BYOB is another plus!

The salad dressing is delicious. Try the beef negamaki-rolled beef with scallion in a brown sauce. Always give you a free fried California roll. Is busy during prime dinner time come after the rush.

I read a the reviews and decided to give well being a chance! It was disappointing to say the least. As someone who eats quite a bit of sushi, I can confidently say I will not be returning to well being sushi.

This place does not disappoint! It’s the best sushi sushi restaurant in Bergen County, maybe even North Jersey! The restaurant is clean and cozy. This staff is friendly and they greet you the minute you walk through the door. The fish is fresh and melts in your mouth, they also give you free soup or salad and a dessert roll!

Came here for a dinner date with my husband. This place was extremely busy for dinner time. We ordered a green salad, a seaweed salad, the spicy girl roll, and the sushi and sashimi combo. It was wayyyyyy to much food for the two of us(we didn’t know because it was our first time there). Everything was great. Though we didn’t get the free roll like everyone talked about(not like we needed it). Will definitely come back :)

Absolutely fantastic. Great sushi in a charming cozy atmosphere right on the Cresskill/Dumont circle. The sushi is delicious and the staff extremely friendly.

I’ve been going here for years and each time I go the service gets worse and worse. I love their sushi especially their Mexican roll but I doubt I will be back for quite some time just because of the servers who work there. The second to last time I went I brought a few bottles of beer and we had to drink them out of the bottles because they forgot our glasses. When they finally brought them to the table they had ice in them. The most recent time I went the server forgot my order completely so I had to pick off my friends plates. On the same night my party of six ordered five different kind of soups and then mix them all up in the kitchen. I think I will just be ordering takeout from them from now on.

Got here without knowing the place. Ordered bento box. Was really surprised by the taste of the food. It was great and the service was good, so definitely deserves 5 stars

As you can see from my previous review of their $ 80 deluxe party platter I was very pleased with my overall dining experience. However, I was recently disappointed with their smaller $ 50 regular party platter, which had very little seafood and mostly consisted of sushi rolls with lots of rice and vegetables. See my most recent pics of their smaller regular party platter. In conclusion, I would recommend the larger deluxe party platter for $ 80, but, not the smaller $ 50 regular party platter. Check out my pics of both their deluxe and regular party platter. You be the judge.

The free fried California roll and lovely service make this a solid 4 star restaurant. Well-Being is a place without much flare, but it’s comfortable and clean. The servers were really nice and the sushi was slightly above average for the area. We also tried gyoza, miso soup and a salad. Gyoza and soup were really good, although the salad dressing(as many others have noted, peanut-based) was not my cup of tea. The bf couldn’t get enough of the dressing, so it was clearly just not my taste. Good prices and parking. We’ll happily be back!
