I got the pork BBQ sandwich with coleslaw at the Fairfax Fall Festival and it was delicious! I’m not a huge BBQ fan, but this was really good. They had sauces on the side which were also tasty, although I’m not a big sauce person. I also got a side of coleslaw but there was a massive core chunk of cabbage head in the container, so I felt like that was a waste of $ 3. The staff did seem a bit overwhelmed by the crowds and the chicken, which I initially ordered, was not cooked yet. It seems that their food is cooked with passion, but perhaps some business operations aspects need fine tuning. Either way, I would eat this sandwich again. It hit the spot!

This was so delicious BBQ. the rib tips was my favorite! The sauce was perfect and the tips were perfectly smoked. I used this caterer for a business BBQ that fed about 100 ppl. The food was hot, delivered on time and VERYFLAVORFUL.

My wife and I went to «The Taste of Woodbridge» and we ordered the rib tips and collard greens. Growing up eating greens, I can’t believe a business that’s known for soul food would serve collard greens from a can. Tried the rib tips and the rib tips definitely wasn’t something I would try again, the rib tips weren’t fall off the bone, and there was more fat than meat.

This weekend I made my first visit to the 4th Annual Bands, Brews, and BBQ festival in old town Manassas. Dyvine BBQ was one of four BBQ vendors there, and the second of the two that I tried. The weather wasn’t providing much cooperation for festival-goers and vendors alike, and perhaps that’s why Dyvine may not have been on their A+ game. There were some high points and low points to the platter I tried, and overall I’d give them a solid 3.5 stars. Dyvine’s BBQ shades more to the Soul Food part of the BBQ spectrum, and that shows in their selection. Items like rib tips and chicken wings share the smoker and menu with standards like pulled pork and brisket. Collard greens and mac and cheese are among the options for sides. For $ 10, I got a platter of rib tips, with a side of corn and mac and cheese. Portions were generous all around — you definitely get more for your dollar at Dyvine BBQ. The rib tips were pretty good. They were not sauced, and I didn’t see a sauce available for them(probably missed it) but they were very tasty with the dry rub and smoke flavors. A little sauce would have been nice to combat some of the drier pieces, but I was still happy. The smoked corn on the cob was fantastic. The mac and cheese was the low point for me. There were a couple of problems. First, they make their homemade mac and cheese like my mom makes it, using real cheese and baking it in the oven. The problem is that the mac and cheese tends to get a bit gloppy as the day goes on, and the cheese flavor is subdued. A really good homemade mac and cheese has to be made from some type of cheese sauce. Overall, this whole meal for $ 10 would have been an easy 4 stars for me, except there was one more issue with the mac and cheese … there were a couple of hairs in my serving. I didn’t complain and I don’t get all that worked up over these things. I’ve worked in food processing, I know things happen. But I have a hard time giving 4 stars for hair in my food — especially when just slightly more-careful planning and serving(Hair nets!) will prevent it. Dyvine BBQ has a few things to work on, but there is a solid foundation for a great BBQ truck /stand here. I’d definitely try them again if I saw them at another event.
