Personally, I think this is the best karaōke place in Duluth. I’ve been to a couple others around here like Do Re Mi, but Sound of Music is cheaper and has bigger rooms. Plus, its near a couple of pretty good Korean restaurants! We didn’t make a reservation so we just walked in The rate for us was $ 20/hour, which is a really good price, and we had around 16 people so we got two separate rooms. But one room can easily fit a group of 11 – 12 people comfortably with extra chairs. As far as song selection goes, it’s pretty standard compared to the others, but always use the search function! It’s way faster than searching through an outdated catalog! Overall, I would definitely go here again for my next karaōke party: D

This is pretty much the go-to karaōke place in duluth. If you’re not familiar with korean karaōke, it’s basically a place where you can eat, drink, sing, and hang out with just your own friends in a private room,(much better than having to sing in front of everyone in American karaōke bars). Rooms are typically $ 20/hour for just karaōke, but it depends on how many people are in your group(~6−8 people). They do have bigger rooms for parties of 20+. I would suggest that you call in advance to reserve your room. You just have to give your name, number, time of your reservation, and the approximate number of people attending. They do have a menu with a majority of korean foods, so if you’re hungry, just ask for a menu. They also have deep fried chicken just in case you’re craving it. Their service is usually pretty good, and they check on you every now and then. When youre done, people usually pay up front. I like this place because the workers usually give everyone a korean beverage before you leave. I got a melon Milkis the last time I went :) Since this is a place where people will tend to drink a lot, expect to see and/or smell puke in the bathroom or even in the hallways. Just a warning. Have fun!

I would recommend another karaōke bar. Worst I have been to. You can get better service at Ai Tunes, Luxor, or even Happy Karaōke. We initially went here because Luxor was packed. The place was dead and apparently we were one of the few groups here. We came here with a big group. Upon arriving they asked how many people we would be having and were told that the room would fit 18 – 25 people. The rooms smelled strong of cigarettes but the room seemed clean. We ordered the bottled alcohol. The fruit that came with the bottles were pineapples, grapes, watermelon, and other basic fruits. They were pruney, old, and dry. The microphone, speakers, and song selections were good though. This is were it goes downhill. After we finished partying they told us they were charging us extra because we had more than 15 people. This did not make sense so we argued with them that when we came in we were told we were able to have 18 – 25 people. The hostess lady became nervous and tried to deny she said that and then they changed their story and said they were charging us for gratuity because there was more than 15 people. Which is a bit absurd because the only time they came into the room was to bring the bottle, cups, and fruit. Other than that I do not understand where the service was but whatever. Here comes another extra charge. They then told us that they were charging us extra because we we went over the hours paid. We realized that the reason they were so nervous was because they purposely jipped us. We were never once told that our time was running out. Most places have timers that tell you how many minutes you have left. Instead of notifying that our time was up, they added the time to the machine without our consent and charged us extra for it. I do not understand why they would do that, actually I do — these people are greedy, sneaky, and will upcharge you for everything. If you are looking to get scammed into paying more than what you initially ordered then come here. These greedy ass people will try to milk you for all your money.

I had so much fun at this place with my friends ! I loved the disco lighting that went along with the music!(So turnt) There are many song choices !(but not the recent pop songs) The only thing I didn’t like was the smell of smoke.(smell was very strong and pungent) Other than that, this place is a great place to hang out with friends! Oh btw, great service as well(they gave us 24 extra minutes !!!)

There was a little confusion with our reservation when we got there but thhe workers took care of the situation quick. The people who was working all spoke english and the guy who brought us to the room and took care of us was awesome! we all enjoyed our time here. We went on a sat night with a group of 15 people. They gave us the biggest room. The had bottles you can purchase too. We bought 2 bottle of crown, 1 bottle of grey goose, 2 kettle of soju, 12 bottles of corona. it came with free fruit trays and water, sprite, coke, cranberry, orange juice. The price for the bottles are very reasonable. We had multiple TVs and the room had a big table with a U shape sofa. I would defiantly go again. Great place to hangout with your friends

Finally, I can reveal my secret identity of Brittany Spears without an entire crowd knowing. This private karaōke is one of the most fun things to do with friends, especially if it’s late at night. My dad dragged my best friend and I here, but since then we have constantly found ourselves going here anytime that we don’t other plan ideas.(Most teenagers basic plan is the mall… but since discovering this, we have stopped really going shopping out of boredom.) The closed rooms make you feel secure enough to groove with your friends. Of course, when you leave the room you’re embarrassed that in fact the entire hallway could hear you from outside. But it is a small price to pay for a night of fun. They have songs from so many languages with the most ridiculous irrelevant music videos attached. Awesome updated music, cool rooms, and a unique idea for a late night friday date is what is in store at Sound of Music. Even though I’m no real pop star, getting to jump around on the couches while screaming along to pop songs with my best friend is a night guaranteed to bring laughter and good memories.

Definitely a clean and fun karaōke locale on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth. This is probably my favorite karaōke in ATL. I LOVE the yogurt soju, although quite pricey at $ 16, but the upcharge is understandable. The songs are pretty new and up-to-date, and I appreciate having songs of any language on one system. I like the provided tambourines and the lighting that we can adjust to our own preference. The staff are generally pretty nice, but not enough worth commenting on, though. Price is relatively reasonable per hour. It’s also conveniently located next to Star Daepo, a cheaper Korean BBQ restaurant that is perfect right a couple hours of singing. I’ve been here quite a few times and don’t see that pattern changing anytime soon!

Nothing special, nothing bad. Song selection is exactly the same as any other Korean karaōke joint(i.e. Happy Karaōke, Do Re Mi, etc). The books are mostly korean songs, and doesn’t list too many english songs. But if you use the little remote, you’ll find they have a LOT of english songs, so no worries. The service is really EXCELLENT. They are super attentive and very very quick. A huge plus for this place. I’d go back, but I don’t think anything is particularly appealing about this place. The ambiance is very much private room, standard karaōke fare and not like a «party» joint as in Ai Tunes.

Sound of Music has a pretty up-to-date song selection. It doesn’t have ipad remotes like Melody, but it uses the traditional karaōke remotes. Their songbooks kind of sucks because it’s not comprehensive and it mixes in English and non-English songs based on artist names. So, it’s easier to use the remotes to search for songs. Instead of charging per person/hour, Sound of Music charges per room/hour, depending on how many ppl are there. So, in effect, it’s cheaper when you have a larger group. The rooms are pretty spacious(dance floor!) and well kept(disco lights!). The karaōke system does give you a score, albeit the grading system is SCREWEDUP. The service at Sound of Music is great. They’re very attentive and they check up on you before time is up to see if you want to add more time on your room. Also, if you order a bottle($ 120), they come with a hefty fruit plate, jug of OJ, jug of cranberry juice, and Coke. Aside from the ktv rooms, Sound of Music also has a lounge area that also provides private booths. I was in the karaōke rooms all night, so I didn’t really get a chance to check out the lounge area.

I went to Sound of Music with some friends for a birthday celebration. We had stuffed ourselves with Korean BBQ so we kept on going with some Korean karaōke. The rooms here are super nice. Definitely the best I’ve seen. The room we had was very large and the seats were very comfortable. Another plus is that it’s super cheap. We paid $ 25 an hour for the room. Our total bill for the evening was about $ 170 for about 15 people. That included the cost of the room as well as lots of drinks. Our group consisted entirely of people who sing only English songs. This place is probably not for you if you are looking for a large selection of English songs. The choices are very limited and you could only look up songs by title in this book. No fancy devices to easily find songs by title or artist. All of the songs are accompanied by these sappy Korean videos. We had about four devices to enter songs in, but only one worked properly. We were continually entering the wrong numbers and having to delete songs. I will say that some people In the group quite enjoyed making up lyrics to the Korean songs. The system was weird and wouldn’t let us queue up songs. We had to wait until the current song was over before we could enter the next song. It caused a bit of a gap between songs. Service was good and the people working there were really nice.

Sound of Music is pretty awesome and is battling Karaōke Melody 2 as my favorite karaōke joint in metro Atlanta. This place has pretty much all you can ask for in a karaōke bar: cozy, comfortable rooms, multiple TVs that play music videos for each song, furniture that is in good condition, a food and drink menu, respectable sound system, decent song selection, and fun, festive lighting. Sound of Music is located on Mall Blvd. between Pleasant Hill Rd. and Gwinnett Place Mall. It’s in between Star Daepo Korean BBQ restaurant and Sam’s Sushi. This place is big. Generally, the space feels clean and inviting. It has a nice bar and lounge area separate from the karaōke rooms and there’s outdoor patio seating too. The hallways to the private rooms are lit by green laser lighting. I like the lighting inside Sound of Music’s karaōke rooms the best out of any karaōke place I’ve been to in Atlanta. It almost becomes like a full-fledged dance club in each room with spinning lights, rapidly blinking strobes, etc. The hourly rate is $ 25 per hour per room if your party has 4 people or less and $ 20 per hour per room if your party has more than 4 people. The song selection is good. Karaōke Melody 1 and 2 are the best when it comes to having the deepest selection of American music, but Sound of Music still holds its own. It easily beats Karaōke Melody in terms of K-pop(Korean pop). Many of these places do a nice job of keeping their song lists up-to-date with the latest and most popular songs. For food and drink, I can’t recommend much. I haven’t had great experiences ordering food at karaōke joints in general. You’ll usually receive snacks on the house. These include chips and veggies like celery and dip. I do recommend ordering kettles of yogurt soju. Service is great. There’s a phone in each room which you can use to call the servers for assistance with the karaōke system or to place orders. If you’re looking for a fun night out, grab some friends and go to Sound of Music. You’ll have a good time.

I love karaōke and I love that this place is right next to my go to place for Korean BBQ. They can get pretty busy on the weekends so I always make a reservation if I’m planning to come here during the weekend. Service is good and the prices are comparable to other karaōke places.

Came by last night, and definitely stayed WAY longer than I had anticipated. The music selection is quite extensive and they are pretty updated on current pop music. Sang songs from back in the day, to songs that felt like JUST came out on the radio. Ordered almost 5 pitchers of beer, some wings, and got the fruit tray. Everyone was definitely having a good time. Got one of the largest rooms there since we were with a group of roughly 15. Decided to split the tab with another sweet friend since it was our friend’s birthday, and left before they could realize we paid. :] Overall, great night out with friends. Maybe next time, I’ll try the food out. Yogurt soju seems to always a be a hit amongst my group of friends. So… definitely give that a try.

All of my life, I knew I was destined to be a rockstar, via guitar shredding or laying some notes with my monster wind pipes. NEVER going to a karaōke place to showcase my skills in public, it was about time. A few weeks ago, I had the chance, and the cool thing– it wasn’t too far from home! With a lounge/bar up front, and a few private rooms, our group got one of the rooms. The first thing I realized was that everything was in Korean(life lesson for the day, always keep a Korean on call when going to karaōke). Thankfully there was a few(in fact, they are some of the best singers I have heard in person, wooow!) in our group. Service was fast and friendly, and not sure how it was set up(hell, I was still buzzing from the beer and soju from the dinner @ Sun and Moon Café), except one TV on one wall, and another behind us. They brought us some beer munchie snacks and the drinks kept on coming. At first, I was surprised at the music videos that were playing in the background, until I realized when we played some Beatles, that John, Paul, Ringo and George were NOT Asian. But it was still cool! So first timers– don’t expect to see the authentic videos. From pop, to heart breakers, to rap, oldies, and metal, there is something for everyone. I was indeed shocked by the amount of Pantera and Slipknot to choose from. The remote is all in Korean, but thankfully the interface is simple to use once someone shows you whats what(like the«applause» button– my favorite one). If you don’t feel like browsing through the bible of tunes, you can type the name of artist or song and it will show up on screen. All in all, I had a great time, and close to a five star experience. Will definitely have to keep this place in the back of my head the next time I go shred! PS– who’s in with me next year for the Korean World Championships?

Obviously, Karaōke depends on who you go with. I had a great time here, but I decided to write this review strictly on the venue itself. For you old school Korean noreabang-ers, this place used to be called Express. When it was called Express, they had a cool bar-lounge in the front and the karaōke rooms in the back. Since it was an actual bar and lounge, they had a bouncer and everything at the front checking your id. Now they changed the name(and probably the ownership) to Sound of Music. They don’t have the bouncer anymore. And the lounge area looks more like a café instead of a bar-lounge. Even though they changed the name and changed it to something less like a nightclub, they still kept the old system. Since this is a Korean karaōke, they use the exact same system that other Korean Karaōke places use. So you can go here, Do Re Mi, Happy, Ai-Tunes, etc., and expect the same songs. This means not as much English songs compared to the Karaōke Melody franchise. However, if you sing mostly pop songs and not Showtunes, certain oldies, or indie hipster bands, you won’t miss most songs. The books are old too. They gave us 2 books. One book was outdated. The other was not. So if you have the older, outdated book, you might not see some songs you were looking for. Of course, you can search for songs using their remote. But their remotes are all in Korean. So it’s good to go with someone who can read Korean. In their rooms, instead of a doorbell, they have a phone to place your orders. I thought that was cool. Although I would figure it would be hard to hear anything due to the noise. Also they only give you 1 hour of time. So every hour, they come in and ask if you want another hour. The constant asking annoyed me. On the other hand, it could be good because you know how long you’ve been there instead of letting time fly by. I think this place is a decent Korean Karaōke place. They just need to update all their books to the latest version. Also, they should be more English friendly with their remotes like some of the other Korean places.

I don’t karaōke, I don’t karaōke, I don’t karaōke! Okay, I might sing in a «noraebang». I have been to Sound of Music twice, once with a group of friends, and once to introduce the concept to my mini Unilocalers. Each time I left very happy with the service and experience. Sound of Music is a great Korean«noraebang»! For $ 20 an hour you get a private room to eat, drink and sing, When I brought my kids we came before 5PM and got two hours for $ 20! The Korean menu is decent and priced fairly, beer is available by the pitcher. The private rooms are shiekly decorated and come complete with mirror ball and light show. Remote controls are available in English if requested. Service here was great each time. All the fun of karaōke, without the humiliation of singing badly in public!

I was shocked and confused to see that Sound of Music hasn’t been reviewed on Unilocal yet. I wonder why? This«noraebang,» located in the same building complex as Star Daepo, offers karaōke in private rooms as well as a bar/lounge area on the right side as soon as you enter. Although I had been to Sound of Music a couple times before, somehow I had completely missed the bar area until the last time I went. The bar area is dimly lit and has comfy couches to sit on while you enjoy your drinks(and cigarettes, for those who enjoy the disgusting habit). Although it’s a cool spot for drinks, it reeks of cigarette smoke — so those who hate the smell of cigarettes may not be fans of the bar area. Although I haven’t had any of it, Sound of Music serves food in addition to beer, soju, and cocktails. They serve their soju in silver tea kettles offered in two sizes — regular and large. I don’t recall how much a «regular» sized kettle of soju costs, but the«large» is apparently a better value at $ 30. My drink of choice at Korean bars/noraebangs is yogurt soju, which is pretty good here. Along with Chex mix, they served us complimentary carrots and celery with ranch as «anju»(Korean side dish consumed with alcohol) to go with our soju. When my friends and I went on a Thursday night, the karaōke rooms were fully booked at midnight. We spent several hours drinking in the bar area earlier, so when we were ready to sing, we waited about 20 minutes for a room to open up. I was impressed with their song selection as they had some of the newer hits, including«Someone Like You» by Adele. =) Since the remotes that you use to choose and reserve songs is in Korean, there are little handwritten labels in English taped on them, which is helpful for those who can’t read Korean. Overall, Sound of Music is a pretty cool noraebang and bar, and I feel that they deserve 4 stars based on the few times I’ve been there. Although the servers may try to speak Korean to you if you look Asian, just speak English back to them if you feel more comfortable doing so. We were surprised to find out that our server could speak perfect English, even though he was speaking Korean to our group(well, mostly me, I guess) for most of the night. So if you’re looking for a chill spot in Duluth to drink and sing, I recommend Sound of Music over another popular Duluth noraebang. TIP: Be sure to check in through Foursquare! When I checked into Sound of Music, I saw that there was a «Spend $ 10, Get $ 10 Off» Check-In Special if you use your American Express card. Unfortunately, no one in our group had an Amex. Boo… Cool deal, though! *I currently do not know their hourly rates for karaōke, but I will be sure to update this review once I find out.*
