It’s exactly as the star ratings says. It’s just average. There was nothing particularly special(good or bad) about the place. They have a wide menu and you can BBQ at your table. I got the bulgogi sambap($ 15.95), which includes bulgogi, miso soup, and lettuce that has been pre-wrapped with rice. Not a bad deal. The bibimbap($ 11.95) was just average. They give you a wide variety of sides so that’s a plus. The place is huge. The first floor alone can fit likely 75+ people. I don’t know how big the upstairs is. The décor is slightly dated but I have a feeling it wasn’t stylish even when it was new. There’s no theme. The thing they can work on is smiling. It’s as if it’s forbidden by the management there. They were helpful when called upon but calling them requires some building up of courage first. Overall, it’s just average for me. Try it once.

Food is good, but let me tell you, the service is horrible, and they openly discriminate against non Korean customers. Three of us went in for dinner, I’m Chinese who eats often at Korean restaurants, my two friends are black and from Bangladesh. Our bill came up to be $ 100 before tips, so not cheap. The table next to us is three Korean customers. Now… The waitress brought us 2 bowl of rice(complimentary at all Korean restaurants), when we asked for one more bowl, was told to share the two among us three people. They also only brought us one complimentary soup… The table next to us only 6 feet away, with 3 Korean customers, received one rice and one hot soup for each customer, and wayyy more complimentary side dishes. Why? WHY!!! WHHHHYYYYY are you treating Korean customers differently? Not mentioning for the entire evening, they never came back and check on how we are doing… Also, for our sweet tea, they refuse to refill it after the first refill… «We only refill sweet tea once» … WTF? What restaurant in Georgia only refill sweet tea once? Do you have that printed on your menu?! No! I’m so fucking tired of Korean restaurants like this one treating non– Korean customers like shit. It’s fucking 2016, in Atlanta in USA, NOT in Korea! Get a better perspective and some cultural awareness…

I will only go to Myung Ga Won if it’s really late at night and this place is the only place that’s open OR if I feel like I can put up a fight. This place doesn’t even have good food. It’s just whatever. and YET! the service is horrible. They have spilled some hot stew on one of my friends and didn’t properly apologize. The waitress’ attitude was like«whatever». She still kept her nose high. And they seem to be irritated to take any orders or even to serve. They also give you so much crap for paying with multiple cards, which I do not understand. It’s same thing as if we came in separately. AND they give you shit for giving them 15% tip. I didn’t even want to give them any tip. As I was writing the %15, the cashier said, «You’re supposed to give 20% tip on weekends AND you’re paying with your card». Oh, and sometimes, they will come after you if you don’t pay enough tip. So please be prepared! There are so many other good places to go. Fellow Unilocal-ers and whoever reads this, please do not even bother going there. It’s worthless.

Parking: A good amount of free parking in their lot. Service: They’re nice and I always get seated quickly, but they’re a bit slow to offer refills of water and to bring you more items when you run out like kimchi, etc. The food comes out quick though. Food: It’s a solid place to get korean food, Overall it’s good and I’d come back. overall experience: A

Stay away from this restaurant! I had a bad stomach problem after eating there, and for almost a week had a painful stomachache… I tried talk to the restaurant and even went there to ask manager, they kept on giving excuses, not apologizing at all…

I always look forward to all the Korean offerings in the Duluth area when visiting Atlanta, and honestly I have to say this one was a disappointment. The ojingo(squid) bokum was way too tough and chewy(at $ 17 — I expected better) and the limited selection banchan was not very tasty. My friend had seolleongtang, and said it wasn’t completely terrible, but had so much better at other nearby places. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing? With all the dining options in the area, we won’t be returning to find out.

No. I don’t even want to give it 1 star. It deserve no star. Me and a group of friends came to eat here around 2am after a night of going out. Its 24hr but long story short the service sucks and our waitress was a thief. The food was all plain probably the chicken soup was the only thing that was good. I got the Seafood tofu soup and there were about 3 clams… that’s all. Long story short we all went to the register and she charged us for an extra beef soup. She kept«BEGGING» for me to pay for the extra soup that nobody ordered. She kept saying«please, I’m real busy, please just pay.» It’s like she mess up on the order and was afraid to get fired or call the manager to void it. Well she begged me so it’s whatever. I paid for the extra soup and also gave an extra tip on top of it since the restaurant is begging for money. I don’t need it but they do, I guess. Nobody should be put in that situation, she made me feel like if I didn’t pay she’ll get fired. So if that money will help then so be it. Never coming back.

I went here at 1am due to other BBQ places being closed. I am a fan of their BBQ it might be a bit pricey and not all you can eat but it filled me up. The only issues I had were the banchan(side dishes) were all kimchi or fish based… This is actually to my liking but my fiancée dislikes both so he was a tad upset not to have anything to snack on. I also noticed something odd. We would get a random complimentary item but it was always just one… a little odd with more then one person at the table. Overall I enjoyed it and will most likely be back late night sometime.

Best traditional beef Kalbi ever!!! Maybe it’s just that one time thing but out of 100+ Korean restaurants I’ve been around the world and Kalbi I had, this place had the best meat I’ve had. Price — high. Side dishes were ok. And hence 4 stars vs 5. I will go back and try again and it’s consistent, will change to 5 stars.

Myung Ga Won has a special place in my heart. haha. It is important to note that I’ve only had ONE item here and order ONLY that one item EVERYTIME I come here. I love that they are 24 hours because there are just those days where I’m a fatty and super hungry at Midnight. haha. Service can be up and down but there is this ONE waitress that is consistently awesome. I wish I knew her name. I always feel weird asking their name at korean restaurants especially if the waitress is older than me. haha. So… What do I order??? Their Galbi Tang. This is a soup made with beef short-ribs and daikons. It’s just one of those dishes I always crave on a cold day. Love that their Galbi Tang comes out piping hot and actually stays relatively hot even up to the very end of my meal. Don’t burn your tongue. =p It also comes with a lightly sweetened, wasabi flavored soy sauce. This really makes the dish. Their soup itself has its good and bad days as it can be more bland on some days than others, but thats okay with me because their sauce and soup temp. makes up for it. You dunk your short rib meat in there and it taste sooooo yummy. I’m drooling just thinking about my last meal there. haha. I usually don’t pay attention to their side dishes but I killed all the side dishes the last time I was there. So thankful I don’t have to resort to fast food for my late-night food.

Nov. 102015 around 8pm Myung Ga Won on Duluth GA We have been coming here for years. So today we got the food kind of fast and something did not seem right. Not sure if the owner changed but we didn’t recognize anyone that we locally know. We have been to so many korean restaurants around town and we know exactly what these food tastes like. The food came out and I tried the meat and it TASTEDSOUR both the LA Galbi and the beef soon tofu tasted sour it also smelled sour like the MEAT was SPOILED. I definitely know what spoiled meat smells and tastes like, my diploma is on nutrition and physiology. I tried to talk to them in the nicest way possible but still made me pay and they clearly see that we didn’t touch the food. The people that worked there have always been rude and no offense they do not speak much english at all we have been coming here for years but today is the last. Just to be fair and nice and not really touch the food I paid anyways and wasted the food because they really were bad meat. I have both the pictures and video of us not eating it and saying what it smelled like, if the soup were not bad why would they give us another one. The texture of the meat was also different, it made me feel light headed afterwards. I am calling the USDA(1888) 674‑6854 and Gwinnett Board of Health Administrative Office(770) 339‑4260 to report this. I hate to do this. For the sake of keeping people healthy. I just have to report this. If their SERVICE or FOOD is NOTSATISFACTORY they cannot make you pay, if they do make you pay WRITE on there your name and address and«Paying Under Protest.»

Myung Ga Won used to be the known place to go for traditional Korean dishes and bbq; however, this place is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant as it struggles to keep up with its competition. Myung Ga won boasts two-story establishment that can basically handle whatever number of party you can have. Your seating varies whether you plan to order Korean BBQ or not. One other perk about Myung Ga won is that it is open 24 hours, so it’s ideal for your Korean food cravings at 4am or whatever other odd time. As for the food, the quality is so so as it meets your expectation but does not exceed it by any means. Another downside is its expensive price. You can expect to pay $ 1-$ 2 more for traditional Korean food dishes and $ 3 – 5 more for Korean bbq.(it’s not unlimited Korean bbq either). Considering the fact that there are nearby Korean restaurants that offer similar(if not better) quality Korean food for lower prices, Myung Ga Won really needs to step its game up. As for customer service, the waiter and waitress are usually cordial and reasonable. They do, however, tend to struggle with huge orders involving party of 8 or more. I personally experienced missing/wrong dishes and disputes over payment. Such instances can be quite frustrating especially due to the long wait time for food to come out for huge parties. Unless I have urgent Korean food craving at 4 am in the morning, I would stay away from Myung Ga Won.

I’m a huge fan. First off, it’s open 24/hr. Secondly, it’s consistently yummy. I’ve never gone here for bbq. I’m sure it’s good because I’ve never been to a Korean joint that fux up the bbq.(we take it seriously), but service is ahjumah power! BOOMBOOM I love their traditional dishes, my fave is the sulleong tang, a delicious white creamy broth, they load you with all the exact condiments of salt and plenty of green onions and LOTSANDLOTS of variety of Kimchi(our national treasure). It tastes like my grandma/ladies at church made it. After coming back from Paris, no joke, I swung by my dad’s and then picked up my favorite soup to go.(And they’re fast!) And this is key: I only go here at odd hours and times to get an occasional homey meal TOGO! Yay anti socialism!!! I try to avoid the drunken crowd at 4 am. I sped home and gobbled that goodness down. Oh my. I missed Atl if only for the food :) SOSOGOOD.

To be honest I don’t eat Korean often enough to know really really great Korean. However, I’ve had it enough to know bad. This place is not bad, but if I could use 3.5 stars I would. I ordered the fried dumplings and bone soup with tripe, knee tendon, and tongue. The dumplings were ok; pretty average. The soup and dipping sauce that accompanies it was delicious. FULL of huge chunks of tendon and tripe, with tender slivers of tongue. Reasonably priced for what I ordered and friendly waitstaff. To be fair, their main entrees look fairly extensive. I also like the fact I was the only American in the place. I think it’s a good sign when people who know what the cuisine should taste are filling the restaurant I’m eating in.

WHAT A RIPOFFOMG. It’s unreal. Spent $ 50 on 2 plates of meat(we were really just provided with 2 plates of meat, not exaggerating). It did say«no unlimited bbq» on the menu, but I was expecting something more than just 2 plates. The quality of the meat was OKAY – very similar to Iron Age. Should have just gone to Iron Age instead of trying somewhere new. I’ve never been this unhappy at any restaurants before. MAYBE there was a miscommunication on whether if we could have gotten more meat. But they did in fact turn off the leave us alone after cooking the 2 plates of meat. When my boyfriend tried to ask the server if we could have more meat, she left for a few minutes and came back to say no. –______________________-!? Maybe she didn’t understand what we were saying??? She seemed confused. Ok, I’ll just stop the rant here. Excuse me – I really had to get it out somewhere. NEVER. COME. HERE. FOR. BBQ. Unless you’re just rich & dgaf.

In the words of Jimmy Fallon, «ew.» This review is based on multiple visits here. Myung Ga Won is a good place if you’re really looking for Korean food and nothing else is open, but otherwise, there are so many other places that you can get a cheap, decent Korean meal. First of all, their service is pretty bad in that after they’ve taken your order, they disappear. Most Korean places will refill your banchan(side dishes) or ask you if you need anything. They also skimp on ingredients like crazy. My friend recently ordered a kimchi dol sot bap(kimchi fried rice in the hot stone bowl), and it came with no meat even though the menu included meat in the description. My friend’s mandoo gook(dumpling soup) had the cheap, frozen dumplings, and my mushroom tofu soup left a ton to the imagination. The banchan is ok, but nothing to write home about. The food is also very one note, and it’s clear they use MSG as their primary flavoring. I don’t mind it too much if they use it to up the savory factor, but the way they do it here is pretty off-putting. All that said, the reason for the 2 stars and not 1 is that the time is convenient, and if you come with very low to no expectations, then it’s not a big deal. Just know that this place is in no way representative of good Korean food, and you’ll be just fine.

I started coming here when it first opened and still recall the first visit being one that impressed me in so many ways. The unique side dishes and quality of meat. Only many many years into the current day and it has lost a little bit of the charm and quality of food. I have been told by Korean friends that the food is authentic and that this same restaurant exists in Korea at a few locations and this is the lone US location. I personally feel as if they offer a good menu for large groups or a night owl like me that craves Korean food at 3am on a Tuesday. I have been impressed with its ability to keep a somewhat consistent menu through the years, but a little disappointed to see changes like adding of Teriyaki Shrimp or the white paper taped when you enter stating that they intend to charge you a dollar for an extra side dish past two. While I don’t intend to need or want a second or third side dish I feel they can keep it classy and just tell someone it will cost them and save the tacky paper and can see that the feeling of being the lone non-Korean patron was a thing of the past. Other than the hanging white page this has always been a very classy establishment, but in my more recent trips the quality of the food has gone from great to mediocre. In particular the squid on one occasion which was like eating plastic or the meat on others that was dry and overlooked. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing with a staff whom is very accommodating and can be summoned to your table with the handy buttons on each table. So, while the quality is not what I recall it is still a good spot in the late hours and is still worthy of three stars.

Myung Ga Won is one of the nicer Korean BBQ restaurants in the Atlanta area. In terms of ambiance and décor, I put it in the same tier as 678 and Honey Pig. It’s classier and more sophisticated than other Korean BBQ restaurants so it could be ideal for introducing Korean BBQ to those who haven’t tried it before. The restaurant generally caters to the middle-aged Korean crowd. It’s not as loud as some of the other places and there’s less likelihood of smelling like cooked meat upon leaving. Outside, the restaurant has a sign that says«24HOUROPEN,» but I don’t believe that’s the case anymore. At night, this sign is no longer lit up. Call to confirm hours. Multiple Korean restaurants in Duluth are open past midnight(e.g. Star Daepo), but Seo Ra Beol is the only one I can think of, last I checked, that operates 24⁄7. Myung Ga Won doesn’t have all-you-can-eat(AYCE) Korean BBQ. You have to order a la carte. It also isn’t as cheap as the AYCE places. Local competitors like Song Do BBQ, Gobawoo, and Sun & Moon Café charge less than $ 20 for unlimited BBQ. However, Myung Ga Won’s meat is less fatty and higher quality. If you want better meat, the price difference is justifiable. A good meal here is about $ 30 – 35 per person, after tax and tip, and includes multiple orders of BBQ(typically beef brisket and pork belly) and alcohol(beer, soju). Gas grills are installed at every table. You order raw meat which is sliced and cooked at your table. You can either cook the meat yourself or let the servers do the cooking. I prefer to let the servers do it. Korean BBQ is always a fun, interactive dining experience. Exhaust systems are installed above the grills to help clear out the air. The grills at Myung Ga Won are one of the more unique sets of grills I’ve seen along with 678 and Honey Pig’s grills. The grills are actual grills with a gridiron pattern installed directly into the tables. This is opposed to the small and portable grill pans or griddles used at some of the other restaurants. Not only do you see the traditional grill marks on your cooked meat, but I think this style of grill results in a smokier, better-tasting meat. Order the beef brisket and pork belly. They are tender, full-flavored, and delicious. You can start with higher quality, unmarinated meats first. The lower quality meats are marinated to mask the decrease in quality. Marinated or unmarinated, I think all of the meats taste fine. I do like how the meats aren’t too greasy here. You can wrap the meat with the supplied lettuce leaves and add sauces to them for additional flavor. The sauces include a seasoned oil and a fermented soybean paste. Several banchan(Korean side dishes) are served with the BBQ. They include an assortment of spicy and pickled vegetables including kimchi(cabbage), cucumbers, bean sprouts, black beans, and daikon(white radish). Other examples of banchan may include broccoli salad and an egg-veggie pancake. It’s all good stuff and free refills can be requested. Salad and boiling bowls of tofu soup are always included. Service is a common complaint for this restaurant, particularly among non-Koreans. The servers are usually older Korean ladies who speak very little English, so the communication barrier is the main culprit. Other restaurants like Iron Age and Oh! My Samgyupsal employ younger servers who seem friendlier and speak better English. Aside from this, I think the service is fine. The servers are quick, attentive, and do a good job cooking the meat for you. As with other Korean restaurants, there’s a button at each table which can be pressed anytime to call a server. The restaurant has two floors. The upper level has private rooms for large groups. Reservations are accepted. Myung Ga Won is conveniently located just off I-85 at exit 104, Pleasant Hill Rd.

I went here with my family a few days ago. I’d say this place is OKAY. Not one of the better tofu houses I’ve eaten at, but it was decent. They also serve Korean BBQ and it is 24 hours, so if you have a craving, this is the place. However, it is a bit pricey than other tofu houses. SIDEDISHES — Of course, to any korean restaurant, there must be a comment about the side dishes served before your entrée/big meal. We had kimchi, pickled radishes(2 kinds), acorn jelly(savory), sauteed veggies, and others commonly found and served at other korean places. They were decent, but didn’t make a wow factor for us. Even before the side dishes are served, they gave us a small serving of this warm, yet bland soup. It’s creamy and has substance, but I did not know if it was potato or creamed radish. With a bit of salt and pepper, it was delightful and tasty. THEFOOD Dolsot Bibimbap — One of my family members ordered this and I think this is the regular bibimbap with veggies and rice. This person eats anything and everything so I didn’t have a clear idea if it was good. However, it seemed like any bibimbap that you’d order which comes with the cold soup on the side and hot sauce Kimchi Dolsot Bibimbap — Basically what I said above, just added with Kimchi if you want more spice or just a kimchi lover. Kimchi was okay Tofu Soup — In our entire stay, I don’t know why it was so difficult for them to put together a meatless and veggieless tofu soup? Maybe it was the waitress that we had who didn’t really understand us clearly, but it was giving us a hard time to order, for some odd reason. Anyways, it was decent and the tofu was nice and smooth. Beef Tofu Soup — This is what I usually order. However, I had eaten a little bit before so, this is probably why I thought the tofu soup was OKAY. There was a good amount of meat which I was happy, but most of it were small pieces that were a bit chewy. The egg did not come automatically with it so I had to ask for it myself. I ordered with regular spicy and it was okay. Again, the tofu was still silky and smooth, but I could not finish it and it was a bit bland even though it was a bit spicy, with an egg. It wasn’t as flavorful as I would have hoped. At the end of our meal, they serve us a Cinnamon Ginger tea. It’s served cold, or ours was a bit cold but it has the cinnamon aroma and sweet when you drink it. Though you have the bitter aftertaste of the tea. Otherwise, it was refreshing to have after a spicy meal. The interior of the place is impeccably beautiful. It looked very modern and clean. There was enough seating that I could see and the chairs are comfortable. We were greeted nicely and enthusiastically by the person at the front, even though it was rainy. The waitress that we had was okay. She sounded like she wasn’t able to understand what we wanted specifically changed in our order, again like the e tofu soup I mentioned above. That was the only issue we had in our visit.

The staff here was nice. The last time I was here was probably 2010, and so yesterday’s visit was basically like a first time visit. The beef bulgogi(?) tasted very average. I can’t remember the exact number on the menu, but I think it was #12. The marination wasn’t anything different than what can be spruced up at home. The beef soup was plain as well. I think the number was E something. They did include a good amount of beef bones though. The only really delicious thing was the pancake, and that thing cost about $ 16. The hot tea they serve was good too. Oh. The squash side dish was delish and different. The complimentary soup at the end of the meal had a very potent taste so watch out for that. Overall a very pleasant place for a meal. Parking was plentiful, and service was nice. The food sits right at average with the price being a tad on the higher end. I think this place opens 24 hrs. so that could explain the price hike. The restaurant is across the street from Mozart café. It is in the complex that’s directly behind McDonald’s.
