What a great experience. I went to buy a chainsaw. They explained differences and features of several models. Very friendly and no pressure. Knowledgeable personnel. I plan on going back for other hardware and equipment needs.

In America we often talk of the«old times» when things were far simpler, and people were more direct. I assume that Howard Brothers is the modern day version of these simpler times, with age-old customer service that really goes a long way to make a positive impression. Located next to the railroad tracks near downtown Duluth, means that the old-timey feel of that old hardware store is held intact. I assume this is the feeling that the older generations would feel when they were shopping in the boom-times of World War 2, when the building shakes from the train passing by. A time capsule indeed… I visit Howard Brothers hardware when I need something very specific, and without failure, they always have it in stock. Sure, having a wide array of items means you might have what I need, but when the clerk knows EXACTLY where the item sits, and EXACTLY what you need based on your description, this is what customer service is meant to entail. You can visit any Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards, and be lost in a sea of people who just happen to work that department, but at this location of Howards, you know that employee has worked that department for a LONG time, with knowledge of every nut and bolt in stock. A wealth of knowledge for us young folks is what you will be hit with. My only gripes are that that entrance sucks(being on a steep incline) and the hours. I am guessing the Sunday hours are a family-related decision, and I can stand behind that. As long as Howard Brothers hardware is open, then I am guaranteed that someone local will have exactly what I am looking for.
