Located inside H-Mart on Pleasant Hill, Hong Kong BBQ has replaced the previous Chinese BBQ that was here before. Unlike its predecessor, they also offer chow fun and other wok-fried dishes on top of the BBQ/rice combo. Prices are about the same as other places around town. I ended up getting the entire duck for about $ 18 dollars and although the skin was pretty soggy, the meat was still moist. It’s all the way on the left side in front of the ice cream shop. Wouldn’t say it’s the best duck I’ve ever had but it’s not bad if you’re looking to pick up some grub while shopping!

If you get hungry while shopping, like me, this is a good place to eat. Separate from the food court, this is a little shop in the back of the store where the ice cream and the rice cake shops are located. There are several small tables for you to sit if you decide to eat right then and there, but most people do order takeouts. I would definitely recommend the soy sauce chicken and make sure you ask for the green onion oil dip which is sooo good with the chicken. I’ve had better ducks and pork though. In fact, I’m going there today after shopping at Hmart with two friends for dinner.

We went back a few more times and bought their soy sauce chicken. Apparently, they make it fresh right in their kitchen behind the stall. Their soy sauce chicken has been consistently fresh, moist, and flavorful. They charge 8 bucks for a whole chicken, which is a pretty good deal. I’d skip the poached white chicken and get the soy sauce chicken. It’s worth a trip to H-Mart.

This is a Chinese BBQ meat shop inside the Super H Mart with the same address. It needed its own recognition since it is ran separately and I didn’t don’t want to rate a supermarket. There are no waitress, no tables, and no frills. You just buy your meat and go home. I bought half a pound of BBQ pig and a pound of roast pork. The roast pork was sitting in this house oil which wasn’t what I wanted but it did make the meat juicier. The BBQ pig was way too salty and the skin was not crispy when I ate. I think that was my mistake. I should really eat the crispy pig meat right away, but I couldn’t so I had to wait til I got home and that probably hurt the quality. I would suggest only to get enough to eat it right away since it best serve before it gets cold.
