Perfect Mother’s Day brunch! The omelet station had a large array of vegetables and cheeses. The Mimosas were perfect, the homemade orange juice is delicious and the waffles were fluffy and amazing!

We are staying here and have now had two meals at Ocean. Both happened to be buffets and both were disappointing. The selection of food was limited. There were quite a few of hot dishes but all seemed over cooked and heavy. The cold selections were limited with a salad bar that did not have many fresh choices. Our first meal was dinner, and while they do have a menu to order from it seemed like most got the buffet. I’d recommend ordering from menu. The second was today, Easter Brunch. It really was just a version of the dinner with a few more things. Stick with the other restaurants on the property. Even the pool food is better than the over priced buffet.

Super expensive for breakfast but it is delicious. The service was great. I came here one morning with my 17 month old while my husband and 6 year old were taking a nap. I ordered meals for us and opted out of the buffet. The waitress was super sweet tho and brought my youngest a plate from the buffet to snack on while we waited. She even cut it up. Sausage, pancake, fruit, home fries. Really really nice of her! That alone gives this place 4 stars instead of 3 I’d give because of the prices alone.

Very nice atmosphere. We got some appetizers and just shared because menu is pretty pricey but they were all delicious. The popcorn shrimp was sweet and spicy. It was very good. The chips and salsa with guacamole was also pretty tasty.

First, the good. Breakfast Buffett is good. Great variety and good omelette made to order. But not $ 22 per person good. Mahi Mahi dinner was good. I just wish the portion was larger for the money. For $ 25 I expected more. And the bad. Probably the worst Mohito drink Ive ever had, anywhere. $ 10 for a 12 oz Dixie cup filled with ice and a ton of whole wilted mint leaves is unacceptable. If I wanted a salad, I’d order a salad. Hardly any alcohol in it. In general, far too overpriced for the quality of food served to make sense to eat here. But I guess that is why it is always empty.

Can you say very over-priced hot garbage! The only saving grace for this the dung heap is a very polite professional wait staff.

Breakfast with a view! The breakfast buffet is pretty average at Ocean. You’ll find your typical selection of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes, pancakes, waffles, pastries, fruit, cereal and oatmeal. I had already loaded my plate when I discovered the made to order omelette station. Luckily the scrambled eggs were pretty good so I didn’t bother with the omelette. In comparison to other hotel breakfast buffets the food was slightly better than average. Service was great and my waiter immediately greeted me with coffee and orange juice. Loved the generous glass of orange juice, but the coffee wasn’t great. If you are staying at Hawk’s Cay Resort this breakfast buffet is slightly cheaper than ordering room service at the hotel, but I would skip dining here if you have the option to cook your own breakfast in your villa.

Pretty good for a buffet breakfast on the Hawk’s Cay grounds in Duck Key. Complimentary mimosa or champagne and coffee, oj brought out by the server. Grab a Big plate(yes not a tiny thing), and help yourself. There’s a make your own waffle station with chocolate chips, whipped cream, syrup, jam etc on the right. Cereals, scrambled eggs, lots of crispy bacon, sausage, and a counter where chefs prepare omelets(plenty of toppings) or whole eggs for you. On the left fresh cut up fruit, and all the fruit was ripe and tasted delish, smoked salmon with capers, red onion, bagels, bread, crackers, cheeses, yogurt. And pastries which I didn’t try but they had a watermelon drink and parfaits that were good. The coffee was not good. I believe the price is 20 $/per person for buffet.

Our first night at Hawks Cay we had a late dinner at Ocean. The restaurant itself was closed but they were still serving the Ocean menu outside at the Beach Grill. I ordered the scallops, my children shared a caeser salad, and my husband the prime rib. The service was extremely slow as there was only one server but the food was exceptional. My scallops were cooked to perfection and didn’t have the grainy texture you find in most. The lentils complemented them perfectly. My husband’s prime rib was seasoned well and melted in the mouth. The Caesar salad wasn’t anything to rave about as it was a bushel of lettuce leavese that were difficult to cut into bite size pieces. The price compared to the meal… It was a little much. For those three meals and accompanying drinks, the bill was over $ 100 not including gratuity. But the price was to be expected at this resort. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Only our first night at Hawk’s Cay on Duck Key and we have had the most amazing time. We ate at Ocean, one of the best meals I have had in a very long time(and I frequent a lot of eateries in South Florida) and my fiancé and I met Damien. Not only did he stop to talk to us and ask how our meal was, he later offered up a recommendation on wine and hooked us up with an amazing bottle and glasses. He was superb customer service at the very best and we couldn’t have asked for more! At Ocean my fiancé had the seafood stew and I had the Mahi Mahi and they were both incredibly fresh and delectable. It was one of the most savory dishes we have had in a very long time. Service was absolutely incredible — our waiter Basil was so personable and the attentiveness was unmatchable.

Standard breakfast buffet. They have an omelette station, waffle station, sweets and fruits section. They also have oatmeal and pancakes tucked away in a tiny little corner. Unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. I wasn’t expecting much from a breakfast buffet but that waffle maker is golden. My waffles came out hot and crispy and they have various toppings to go on top(chocolate chips, strawberries, whip cream, nuts, etc.). Sneak in a couple of chocolate chips in the batter and have a chocolate chip waffle for dessert — the perfect ending to any breakfast buffet. Now if they could only add some nutella to their buffet…

For $ 32 per person for the buffet, I really expected more. The service was great, but the food was pretty average. Decent selection of seafood dishes and prime rib, so it’s not a complete write-off, but it didn’t really live up to the cost for me.

We had low expectations because of the Unilocal reviews, but were impressed with both our dishes. The seafood tagliatelle was excellent. The diver scallops are also good. Service was nice nothing super fancy or awesome but definitely decent.

Food is similar to a Holiday Inn with the addition of an unstaffed omelet station and some partially decomposed lox. I dont know if what i was served was coffee? If it was the flavor was undescribable, something between the smell of fresh asphalt and burned popcorn. A small selection of cheese was left out as a pathetic attempt to elevate powdered eggs and precooked bacon out of the pit of mediocrity. I’m paying for a condo and this still cost me $ 25.00. Try anywhere else, because ocean is all washed up.

Waste of money. Came for breakfast, decided to order al carte(assuming that would be better than the buffet) … Wrong… It just meant we had to wait 30 minutes for the same food that we could have made ourselves at the buffet. Oh and we ordered Belgian waffles(with Nutella and strawberries) … They forgot the Nutella so they just brought us the jar! I’m sure the jar that a bunch of other people have stuck fingers in!

Checked in late got a table within 15 minutes and outside as requested. Kenroy was awesome accommodating my no butter no gluten allergy. I ordered seafood stew which was perfect as they were out of oysters for the night, but promised me they were being delivered next day! Parents got margarita pizza & shrimp cocktail. Crust was like a pita and light. Shrimps were small in my opinion & priced high. Good vino list!

SOLID breakfast here at Ocean — it’s the restaurant on the Hawks Cay resort. I haven’t eaten any other meal here besides breakfast, and the buffet and menu items were all pretty good. Cheap, which is a huge plus when away on vacation — we paid $ 23(gratuity included) on two full plates of filling breakfast food. Flavor was a bit bland, and nothing crazy to roll my wig back about!

When they got you, they got you. There are only 2 restaurants on the resort and if you have kids, then really only one. Unless you want to drive at least 30 minutes in any direction, you have no place else to eat! The food is bland, the same or similar every lunch and dinner, and expensive. Be prepared to spend at least $ 100 for the buffet option for 4 people.

Ocean is one of the several restaurants on the grounds of the Hawks Cay Resort. The buffet breakfast was very well done; lunch and dinner were more mediocre. For the latter, the food was American seafood, but with a slight trend toward mediterranean(achieved simply through the addition of olives, capers, feta, etc. to some dishes). But for an all-around restaurant to please every family member, you could do worse. The kids enjoyed the pizza and pasta. Sadly, one of the biggest problems were the birds on the patio outside. The seagulls were especially aggressive. Some crafty person strung fishing line across the openings, but it is spaced far too wide and gave the birds no trouble at all. It needs a re-think.
