Restaurant managers must underestimate the liability of keeping poorly trained servers on staff, otherwise why would my restaurant experiences be so fraught with them? Our first visit to the Montgomery Inn was another example of how signicantly poor service effects patrons’ impressions of a restaurant and ensures that a repeat visit will not be in the offing. I won’t go into a play by play of my wife’s and my experience. Suffice to say that zero greeting, selling, or presentation of a menu sets a very negative tone to dinner. Our server didn’t ask for a drink order, brought my wife’s soup prior to serving our appetizer, could not answer basic menu questions, and otherwise ignored us from the serving of our food until the conclusion of our meal. –2 stars automatically, being forgiving. As for the food, it was just ok. I got the combo platter of a pork chop and ribs, she got the 3-slider combo. We started with calamari appetizer. The portion was large, calamari lightly breaded and tender. But the dipping sauce was too tart and heavy and far overpowered the calamari. A lighter touch would help make a pretty good dish above average. My combo platter was good, very tender meat, nice flavor. Sauce was too sweet for my taste. I’ve had better ribs at a few places in the area, but my biggest ding here was the cost. $ 27.99 is about $ 5-$ 7 too high for what I received. I did love the cole slaw side though! Fresh, crunchy, with a vinegar and horesradish flavor that was just my style. Definitely unique and impressive. My wife’s pulled pork, chicken and brisket sliders were amply sized, larger than expected. She liked the brisket, but didn’t like the sauce on her chicken slider. The server didn’t have a clue what kind it was, but I’m guessing it was a chipotle bbq sauce. The waitress said if that was the case, she wasn’t aware of its existence, despite a call out I saw on the menu which read«try our new chipotle bbq sauce!» Her side of mac n cheese was in her words just average. All in all, we expected better, but might be giving the place another try were it not for the terrible service. It left a bad taste that will linger.

My wife, brother-in-law from Sarasota, and I finally made it to the Montgomery Inn in Dublin. It was better than the BoatHouse location in Cincinnati where we had multiple problems such as the wrong food arriving and a bread tie in my wife’s sandwich. The Pork Nachos are really good and should be ordered. The brisket platters were good with plenty of food to eat. The décor is nice with lots of Cincinnati sport’s memorabilia on the walls. Give it a try.

To an eastern North Carolinian the best KC ribs are just ok, and these were just ok KC ribs — cloyingly sweet thick sauce with a bit of heat. What earned it a 4th star was the sides: great homemade chips and mac&cheese a southerner could love. And, especially the service: pro-actively attentive without interrupting conversation, and willing to go beyond order taking and serving.

Better than what I thought going into this plac after reading the reviews. Yes the rib meat is grey, but it taste fine. Let’s not be racist about meat. You want color, order a steak. It’ll be brown and pink. The Mac and cheese was mediocre for a kid to enjoy they wouldn’t mind. The flat bread crostini was very good however didn’t taste much blue cheese flavor but fresh. Stella was on tap good for a one or two time visit. Priced okay.

We went specifically for the ribs. The meat fell off the bones. The ribs were delicious for a couple of us. The other person would have preferred a tad more heat on his. We also had the onion straws, which were light and tasty. The mini crab cakes were fantastic. Excellent service and food.

I came for the ribs which were good and soft, falling off the bone. However, I did not think the sauce was as good as my home-made sauce, and I am a bit spoiled because I smoke my ribs and missed the smokey flavor. I thought the 3 dishes for $ 30 was a good deal. We also had the shrimp appetizer that left me feeling a bit uninspired. They had Stella on tap which is a plus, but unfortunately they were out during our visit. A note, this place was difficult to find and my GPS led us to a mall area about 1 mile further east down the road. Best to check a map for directions, if you have not been there before.

Big bucks, no bang. Poorly executed ribs and even worse sauce. It’s one thing to attempt wet KC style ribs, but make sure the sauce is good. That’s all I have to say about that. Went with family from around the area on 7−3−15 about 7pm for«all you can eat ribs». No one asked for seconds and the place was deserted. All I need to know.

If phenomenol service and mouth-watering ribs are your thing, then you’ll love it. If you like a different flavor of rib and sauce better or you’re a self-proclaimed rib snob, then that’s fine too… you’ll still leave satisfied. However, I’ve observed that the vast majority of people with your standard set of taste buds will find them delicious. I’ve had all kinds of ribs and they’re still my personal favorite.

Had family dinner last night. Made reservations on line was great didn’t had to wait to be seated even though restaurant was almost full. Service was good, place is clean. We had fried calamari for appetizer and ribs for dinner. Ribs were great, meat was falling of the bone sauce was awesome. Our youngest had kids meal chicken fingers with broccoli and for my surprise broccoli was fresh and not over cooked(cause most places when we get broccoli looks and taste just awful). Overall very pleased with restaurant.

Visited on Valentines Day. Had a reservation, so no issue there. The building was very nice and so was the wait staff. My ice tea was bitter and the glass full of ice the way it should be. The issue comes with the food. While not horrible, it was extremely mediocre for the prices they charge. The bbq was below average except for the brisket. I guess for me City Bbq is the best around. My broccoli was barely steamed and needed me to season it and the coleslaw was made with horseradish… It tasted more like cocktail sauce. Yuck! My wife and I were disappointed at the money we spent for a meal that just wasn’t worth it. Lesson learned.

Excellent dinner! We had dinner here this evening with a party of 10 at 6pm. I was hesitant after reading the reviews. We have never been to this location but do eat at the Cincinnati locations a few times a year. The evening went well with no complaints. Our server was great and didn’t forget one thing. We had 4 kids with us and she was on top of all requests. We ordered and had our food within an hour. Everyone had the ribs as well as other items. I can say the ribs are very good. They were not dry, boiled or tough. They were fall off the bone perfect. We were pleasantly happy with dinner, service and of course dessert. I honestly think ribs are a tough sell to meet everyone’s taste buds hence all the different reviews. We will definitely return.

We frequent the Montgomery Inn, eating there a few times per month. The wait staff is super friendly and seem to enjoy working there. My bf loves the ribs, as does everyone we’ve ever brought to the restaurant. Their Saratoga chips are awesome, especially with their homemade BBQ sauce. I love that we can get a great meal in Dublin in a semi-casual environment. David is an awesome server/bartender, too!

I really want to like this restaurant. I really do. The building is nice and spacey, the service is good, the location is super close to my office, and most of their menu items are just fine. They also have frequent coupons and Groupon deals. But as someone who owns a smoker and cooks ribs regularly at home, Montgomery Inn’s BBQ ribs are very disappointing. Honestly, they taste like they’ve been boiled.(Boiling your ribs is a cardinal sin to some in the BBQ world) Combine that with the price that they charge for their ribs and it’s pretty much offensive. When you put«The Rib King» on your logo, your ribs better be competition quality. And as reviewer Christopher G mentions, these ribs are far from competition quality. If this restaurant is the Rib King, then I might be the Galactic Emperor of BBQ Ribs.

I went last night for the first time with some friends — I had received an email touting their ‘all you can eat ribs’ on Mondays and Tuesdays in September. I have friends who rave about the ribs here, so I thought we’d give it a try. Meh. First of all, the service was nothing to write home about. The server barely made it to the table, when we asked him what was on tap he wandered away to get a printed list then just handed it to me, and during the meal actually walked away twice when he was being asked a question. We got one round of drinks, and may have gotten more if anyone had bothered to come back and ask us before we were almost done with our food. The first rack of ribs was pretty OK. The meat was very tender, and the sauce was tasty, although different from the sauce you can buy at the grocery store, which was a surprise to me. The Saratoga chips were boring as heck. My husband got a side of mac and cheese, and said it was the blandest he’d ever tasted — sorely lacking in cheese flavor. He only ate a few forkfuls, and if you knew my husband, you’d know this must have been REALLY boring mac and cheese. They brought out a second round of ribs without asking, which I thought was a very nice touch, and it was only a short rack, which I also thought was a nice touch. The problem was that THIS round was heavily salted. I thought maybe it was just me, but the other 4 guests at the table said the same thing. I even compared ribs which were still on my plate from the first round, and yup, the second round was far saltier and much spicier, as well. My husband did manage a third round, and these were also very salty. Could the kitchen be adjusting the seasoning for second and third rounds in an effort to limit the ‘all you can eat’ people? Who knows? I was going to ask the waiter, but he had vanished again. All in all, I doubt we’ll be back. The ribs were OK, but I’ve had much better. And the service was lackluster. For a place that was ¾ empty, you would have thought they’d be more interested in cultivating the customers they had.

My wife and I had dinner here on Friday night and although the food was good and the service was great, we might not be going back. First, the place was practically empty when we arrived,(after 6:00pm). When we walked through the front door, 4 employees were gathered around the front desk talking and my wife had to say something before they noticed us. They seated us in the dining room, where only one other couple was eating. I got up and checked the bar, which had a couple of stragglers and 1 large party of senior citizens(12 people) but that was it. I wondered then if that was a bad sign. Our waitress was nice and the drinks and dinner order was quickly placed. It was then we noticed that there seemed to be more employees working than there were customers. Drinks arrived soon followed by our salads, which were good. I had the wedge, my wife had the Caesar. We had barley finished the salads when our main courses showed up. I had a slab of ribs and she had the chicken. Both dishes were tender and fall off the bone cooked, but both also had this semi sweet BBQ sauce that seemed a little over-powering. I scrapped off as much of the sauce as possible, which made the ribs more enjoyable. We then ordered a dessert to split and for some reason, our waitress decided to bring us each one. She did it in good faith, as it was on the house, but she was a little pushy when dropped them off and it almost seemed like she was fishing for a larger tip… we’re still not sure if that was the case, but it sure felt that way. All in all, it was good food, although a little pricier then I thought it would be and the service was mostly great.

I came here with a group of Arbonne colleagues the other evening for dinner and was very impressed. So many of the previous reviews had me a little nervous and thinking I probably didn’t want to eat here. Anyway, we made reservations and there were 5 in our party. Our server was RJ and he did a FANTASTIC job! He was knowledgable about the menu and helped make recommendations based on what each person was in the mood for. I had the Ted’s platter which came with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. It was very good!!! As far as ribs go, they weren’t the best I’ve ever had… but still were very good. The manager(Evan) came out to our table and also bought us dessert. Such a nice guy! I will certainly go back to this place! Ask to be in RJ’s section… he’s a great server! Great job Montgomery Inn!

I own my own smoker and have done BBQ competition and judging. These ribs are some of the worst Ive ever tasted. Apparently steamed or boiled in Cincinnati, then shipped to the store via truck where they get reheated and drowned in a putrid sauce. If you scape the sauce off, revealed is the tasteless and bland gray meat. If you like paying top dollar for sub-standard BBQ this place is for you. If you want quality BBQ at reasonable price, get to Smokey Bonz or Logans. Hell, even City BBQ has better ribs.

I went after work for some drinks and appetizers and we sat at the bar. The restaurant was basically empty with the exception of us and the staff, yet there were still multiple occasions when we had empty glasses and were left quite thirsty. By far the best part of our visit was the Pulled Pork Barbecue Nachos. I highly recommend and would be willing to visit Montgomery Inn again just for that appetizer.

I came here for the first time during restaraunt week. It was fantastic. I ordered off the regular menu and got the rack of ribs and they were fantastic. The atmosphere is pleasant as well. Has a home-like environment.

Overall we were disappointed with our experience and quality of food. My husband and I were looking for a nice dinner out before heading over to the zoo to see the lights. We started with the chips and onion straws. The chips were as expected, and overall good. The onion straws were kind of soggy. I had the quarter chicken with steamed broccoli. The chicken was completely dried out and old. My husband had the combo platter of ribs and grilled shrimp. The shrimp was wrong(Cantonese, not grilled) and the ribs were way over done. The meal was nothing special, especially considering the price. The atmosphere was off. The quality of food is what I would expect at a fast food restaurant. We may consider visiting the Cincinnati location one day, but will never be back to the Dublin location.
