Sad to report that this place is closed. I loved their freshly made lunch bentos. So sad. Best wishes to the family that ran this store. They were awesome.

This is like Tensuke Market Light — it offers a smaller selection of Japanese groceries and goods found in Tensuke Market. The last time I was there, a little nice old lady was there to greet all incoming customers in Japanese. The store felt like a little piece of Japan with the customary bowing and usual greetings. I went there to find one thing — Mochiko to make some Chocolate mochi and it was a success! Next time I will have to pick up more goodies. A tip — they accept credit card for purchases over $ 10.

This place is cool for a «mid-west meets Japanese» store… but it has a lot of variety of Japanese drinks/snacks/candy/noodles/seasonings… and dvd’s.

What is Crunky? CRUNKY: 1. An energy bar called Crunky made by Lil’ Jon. 2. The state of being crunk(crazy, drunk). Having fun. Being wild and crazy. 3. Candy bar from Japan, manufactured by Lotte, Inc. consists of chocolate with bits of almond and crispies. A smooth and reasonably good quality chocolate with a fudge-like texture. Also referred to as «Crunky Walking Bar», whatever that means. You can decide for yourself but I’m going with #2.

I love this store! They carry a huge range of noodles, flavored oils, soy sauce, spices etc(ie everything you could possibly want for Asian cooking). They have a great fresh fish/seafood section too, and everything is ridiculously cheap(makes me wonder how sushi places can justify their stupidly expensive prices). They also sell gorgeous tea sets, chop sticks and tableware, and cute kitschy novelty items. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I always find something to buy when I go here.
