I am glad I did believe the negative reviews on here. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs. It was delicious. I asked for my hash browns crispy and they were the way I ordered it. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars, because the inside really is old and needs to be remodeled.

The problem with this place is the service. After entering the restaurant, we were seated at the far end to be served by Michelle instead of one of the other two servers on-duty. After Michelle took our order and the food came out quickly, she put the check down on the table. Naturally, this was odd because we hadn’t even started eating yet. She then announced that she was leaving and paused — obviously expecting to be tipped before we even started eating. We ignored her and she walked away for a moment. She returned and interrupted our conversation again to tell us that she had been working since early in the day and was going to go home. Again, we ignored her embarrassing attempt to get a tip when there was no chance in hell she was going to get a tip until we had finished eating.(If she had said, «I’m leaving and so-and-so will be taking care of you,» the situation would have been quite different. But that didn’t happen.) Finally, she made one last effort to get her tip by basically saying, «You’ve got everything you need, and I’m leaving now.» Was Michelle some sort of mind-reader to assume we wouldn’t want to have dessert or have a change in beverage choices? First of all, we didn’t have everything we needed. When we needed more water on several occasions, we needed to summon the busboy who appeared none-too-happy to have to travel across the restaurant to give us more water. He was obviously not very motivated to service customers of a waitress who wasn’t even there anymore. With our waitress being gone, not once did another server come by to see if we needed anything. We were left to fend for ourselves. When the manager was told about the situation, he either didn’t understand or didn’t want to acknowledge that there was a problem as he kept repeating, «Don’t worry about it! Stay as long as you want.» That wasn’t the point at all! Finally, more bluntly, he was told that nobody was worried about anything. He was told that he was at fault as well as Michelle because he should not have put us at the far end of the restaurant to be served by a server who was going to leave. It was suggested that he not do that again, but he mysteriously continued to say, «Don’t worry about it.» Then he said that Michelle would have a good talking to tomorrow. There is no need to talk to Michelle tomorrow on our behalf, though, because if she is the only waitress available, we’ll leave. The older, tall waitress who always gives excellent service had the day off — or things would have been quite different. Avoid Mondays and Tuesdays, apparently, because those are her days off.

Breakfast was good but our waitress was far from being friendly and you can wait forever for coffee.

The only gripe I had with this place was the hostess on the day I went did not say a word to me like hello or goodbye have a nice day when I left. The food was good and the waitress’s service was just fine.

Go here all the time. Great breakfast place and awesome patty melts for lunch. Nice outdoor venue for summer time. Love the Bloody Mary’s. Service is always good, which why I’m reviewing today. Short staffed, owner and family waiting and busing tables on which was an unexpected busy day. They kept up with the crowd. This is what a good business owner does to keep customers coming back.

I eat here at least once a week for the past 18 years. Owners are friendly. I enjoy the greek lamb chops, greek pork tenderloin and the stir fry. Those are my favorites. They make awesome iced-coffee drinks too.

The food I’ve ordered here is good, certainly not gourmet, but many items to choose from. The servers occasionally seem overwhelmed and a few times, we’ve had to wait for our food and refills for a while. I try to avoid going on weekend mornings because the place is packed, but it’s not terribly crowded in the evening. Nice owner, appreciate that he’s there keeping things on point as much as possible.

One of my all time favorite breakfast places! Food is good, the menu has wonderful creative twists and they like to switch it up from time to time. Service has always been good, family feel and family friendly. Fresh orange juice is a must try!

Overall, would come back for decent food but customer service and worn décor takes away from better rating. Came for late breakfast. Food a bit better than decent. Submitted pictures are representative. They know how to make eggs over easy and the pancakes are well made but the sausage patty was a hockey puck. Crepes decent, a little overdone but, again, decent. Hostess with some attitude when asked for a specific table. Our waitress was pleasant but less than attentive, spent a lot of time chatting while we needed coffee refills. Place beginning to look worn and worse for the wear. Tables very worn. Carpet somewhat unsavory. All the indicators of complacent ownership and management. Given the prices this shouldn’t be an issue but they aren’t totally out of line for what you get(like Egg Harbor) but they definitely need to put something back into the business. At this point, you’d be getting a better overall experience at IHOP, unfortunately.

We came here today as we drove by and decided to try something different. we were seated right away(there was barely anyone there) but, I had to wait about 10 minutes for a high chair for my daughter. Our waiter was nice but slow. We both had to repeat our order about 5 times before she got it all. I got a skillet and hubby got skirt steak. The skirt steak was so thin and he was not impressed by it… my skillet was ok. nothing sepcial. we got my daughter the kids pancakes. Before tip our bill was$ 45…we are not ones to bring our food back or make a big deal. But I think it’s absolutely outrageous it was that much money for such average(skirt steak was poor) food. Will never go back. Sorry!

Although the food is good, the wait staff is horrible. They sat us in a booth where the air conditioning was leaking from the vent and when after 10 minutes we couldn’t find a waitress… we just moved ourselves to another table. When she finally did show up she said” oh… was that leaking again?”. So apparently they know there is a problem and just choose not to fix it… and no apologies either. There were 3 of us… two orders of pancakes, I had the Athenian Chicken Pita. Food is really good… now the bill… $ 50.83 for lunch, without the tip. Sorry, this place is not worth $ 50.00. Next time I will go to Jamison’s Steak House. Oh…and hope you get the menu with the sticker over the old prices because if not… you’re in for a big surprise!

Decided to try this place out for the first time this past Sunday for lunch. Busy place but we were seated immediately. A busboy brought us water almost as the same time we were seated but I was a little turned off when I saw dirty water dripping down the glass from where his hands touched. Then we waited. And waited. Not once did a waitress come to take our order or at least check in with us. We closed our menus and made eye contact with several waitresses but had no luck. We decided to leave after at least 10 minutes. This was the first time I ever walked out on a restaurant.

Food is lousy! Turkey sausage was bland, hash browns were cold, the eggs with cheese tasted like cheese whiz and the toast was not buttered like I asked.

While the food here tends to be good(if not always 100% consistent) I have to mark the place down on service. I tend to get pretty slow refills on coffee and it tends to take a bit for a waitress to come around. I used to come here a lot and it suffered from this problem, made a recent trip here for breakfast and it seems that things have not improved. If you aren’t in a hurry or don’t drink a lot of coffee, the food is good, just nothing that really stands out as a must get.

I’ve driven past Downers Delight dozens of times, yet have never stopped. I looked at their huge(not Cheesecake Factor huge, but still…) menu and decided to give it a try. I’m guessing their specialty is breakfast, but they do dinner pretty well too based on my limited experience. I ordered the cheese fries appetizer and the gyros sandwich. Cheese Fries Appetizer: Not a good start. It looks like they dumped some cheddar on top of the fries and ran it through a salamander or similar melting equipment. Now cheddar isn’t the most melty of cheeses unless you make a sauce with it. That didn’t happen here(nor would I expect it to) — just use some American Cheese if you are going to use this approach and I’ll be plenty happy. Gyros: Thankfully they redeemed themselves with the Gyros sandwich on pita with homemade Tzatziki sauce. The meat was flavorful and plentiful, and the Tzatziki was fantastic. The pita was a bit chewy by the time I ate it, but that’s probably the delay from serving to eating. At any rate, these were very good. I nearly gave DD3 stars, but the Gyros gave me hope that the rest of the menu was good. I’ll try breakfast sometime soon.

Good diner type that has a HUGE menu. I had a really good lox and eggs omelet and a side of pancakes that were very simple yet good. Place can get a little busy around noon but pretty good service otherwise.

Came in here by a recommendation and it’s been an OK experience. First and foremost, great customer service. I met the owner(Gus), and he was very welcoming. The waitress recommended me the Greek chicken with pita and I went with it. The chicken was delish and made to the order. The only thing it didn’t worked for me was the pita was smothered in juices and therefore at least for me rubbery. I like to pick bit of the pita and eat it with my food. I wasn’t able to do so without creating a mess. Again good flavor, reasonable prices and great customer service. Would I give them another shot? Yes I would. I ate and the customer service made the difference. We’ll see next time.

I am really fond of family restaurants. I love the comfortable booths, big menus, slower pace, and always think they are a great place to have a good conversation– they aren’t usually as loud as other restaurants and you don’t feel like you have to rush out. Anyway, tonight was the first time I tried Downers Delight. I went with my parents and we were greeted with a very friendly welcome, which doesn’t seem to happen often anymore at other places so that was really nice. They have a huge menu. Once in a while it’s fun to get a full dinner– bread basket, soup, salad, entrée, rice/potato and dessert! The rolls were pretty good– warm– but a seemed a little dry/stale. They have excellent homemade soup– I loved the chicken and seashell soup– it was delicious. My dad liked the seafood bisque. They had four choices of soup of the day– I like that. The salad was tasty too– I really liked the thousand island dressing and the croutons seemed like homemade garlic bread croutons. Yummy. I got the chicken kiev(a childhood favorite) and it was really good. It came with rice and though not my healthiest meal, it was comfort food and delicious. My dad had stuffed halibut and he said it was pretty good– it came with a huge amount of broccoli. My mom had some sliced beef sirloin and said it had good flavor but wasn’t particularly tender. My parents loved their baked potatoes. My mom had an apple slice for dessert and she seemed to enjoy it. My dad and I had rice pudding which was good too. Our server Tammy was excellent– friendly, positive, helpful, checking with us often. The busboy was very present and kept our waters refilled. We were really impressed with the service here! The bill was pretty affordable too– for all the food you get! The landscaping outside is absolutely beautiful– there is a fountain too. There is an outdoor seating area too and it has pretty blooming flowers in pots around it as well. We had a really nice experience here tonight and I will definitely be back.

Came here with my favorite aunt while I was in town. She loves this place and I’ve been here a few times so I know why. Everything is always delish. I ordered the Iron man wrap and it is a very large portion with egg whites and a spinach tortilla. DELICIOUS! It was actually very spicy, the heat sneaks up on you. I think they put some hot peppers in the eggs, wow that’s hot! I’d definitely come back, got my money’s worth for sure. I took half of it home and I noshed on it the next two days. yum!
