CAP claims to want to «help» their patients, but they are nothing but a legal drug dealer stuffed in an old Pontiac dealership between a strip mall and a bridal planner… My counselors used to fight me when I wanted a methadone decrease, and if they had their way, they’d have you on maintenance for life. There are a ton of people who go here who maintain sobriety and just want to transition off of Methadone and either go straight or do the Suboxone thing, but if CAP had their way they’d be on high doses for life! This clinic is not state-funded, meaning you will pay through the nose– 280 $ a month minimum. That is a car payment, half a rent payment in a studio apartment, or groceries for a month for 1 or 2 people. The counselors try to make things complicated if you want to take your medication home(carry privileges), and will make sure you jump through all kinds of embarrassing, pointless hoops. If you have a hardship, they don’t care. They won’t work with you. I hadn’t had a dirty drop since I started 3 years earlier but they wouldn’t bring me down to once a week. The nurses are indifferent, and there are a few which are very unprofessional. I will not single them out and cannot mention more about them without sounding like a racist. But on a serious note, there are a few nurses working here that should not even be in nursing, their immature behavior and inattentiveness/poor work ethic should bar them from this profession… The billing lady is nice, but she is pushy and is always try to get you to cough up more money– As if I don’t have enough problems already… It was extremely convenient while it lasted, but I ended up going out to Cicero where I can afford the medication and will be treated with dignity and respect. If you have other options, please look at those first before you get sucked into the trainwreck that is CAP«Quality Care» By the way, make sure you ask the staff what happened to Dr. Mark Schinderman and his criminal conviction at the CAP in Westboro, Maine. I mean, besides going to prison and losing his medical license… Ask about the lawsuits and how they almost killed people. Yeah, that’s what I mean…

I’ve been to four different methadone clinics, and this was my favorite. The service was great. The nurses were never late, you were always treated with respect, and you were always in and out quickly. I have nothing bad to say about CAP of Downer’s Grove.
