I try to go here as often as possible, but sometimes too long of a wait. THEFOODISALWAYSSUPERB!!! I have dropped in, over the many years and I can never complain. I’m Italian and even those dishes come out with me drooling. I looked up the phone # and saw Unilocal,so i decided to give a review. I never have much time for reviews and have never given a 5 star rating.

This is what everyone should expect to have in their neighborhood regardless of whether they’re in New York City one of the boros or someplace in New Jersey. For years, the quiet man has delivered a wide variety of terrific food at very fair prices. The bar is also creative and offers many interesting drinks. Service is always attentive, pleasant, and efficient.

Awesome food and great drinks. Love the nachos and they make the best Irish coffee in town.

Nice little pub in the middle of Dover. Check out the production stills hung about the place. I love Maureen O’Hara. The food is great here. Have never had a bad experience. Loved the movie, love the pub.

I’d been thinking about the fried chicken all day. My wife had the chicken pot pie. Everything was great.

Very surprised at the quality of the food, and the service is great. Don’t be turned off by the construction happening– it’s tight & intimate, but in a warm way.

We went there for lunch bc I had heard good reviews about this place. First the parking lot is very small, probably hold about 7 – 8 cars. Street parking was easy to find on a Thur afternoon. However do not park in the lot across the street. Their are plenty of signs warning your car will be towed. As you walk in, you are greeting by the bar patrons, prob the locals. Everyone is so nice in there. We started with potato pancakes and though not on the lunch menu, I also orders wings. The potato pancake was excellent! I think it was the oil they use to fry them. Also the wings were just to my liking. It was deep fried and not wet with sauce. It wasn’t too spicy but just enough flavor. They also bring out warm bread which was good. The service was good and attentive. For dinner, we had the chicken pot pie and fish and chip. The fish and chip was very good and fresh. I found the chicken pot pie to lack flavor but my husband loved it. We will definitely be back.

I chose to go The Quiet Man pub because of the many wonderful reviews on Unilocal.I went, therefore, expecting a great experience — and all of my expectations were blown away. First, the service was impeccable from beginning to end — the servers, hosts, and even bus staff were simply charitable and kind and quick to provide whatever you needed. I never felt imposed upon, nor did I ever wait for the things I wanted. My beverages were refilled before I even realized they needed to be, and done so at inconspicuous times that did not interrupt our conversation. The waiters avoided the ever-annoying«ask you a question after you’ve just taken a bite» routine, and provided clear reasons for their recommendations. The food arrived, and it was just as excellent as the service. I ordered the pan-seared duck breast over a port wine sauce with a chutney that was –phenomenal-, my son ordered the chicken fingers(more on those in a moment), my mother ordered gnocchi and my aunt ordered mushroom ravioli over eggplant rounds. My duck was seared perfectly, and the port sauce and chutney paired so perfectly that I truly felt I was eating in a Michelin starred restaurant. The gnocchi and mushroom ravioli were equally amazing — the perfect ratio of mushroom to pasta dough. The mushrooms tasted fresh and potent, and the sauce they rested in was also excellent. Now, on to the chicken fingers — when you are in a restaurant like this and order chicken fingers for your child you expect a throw-away deep fried piece of chicken. This was not what we got. We got chicken fingers executed with the same level of care and precision as my duck. The chicken was moist and tender, and the breading was phenomenal. It was simply the best chicken finger I ever tasted in my life — it put all other chicken fingers to shame. I will be back to The Quiet Man pub. It was phenomenal. I can’t wait to take my wife, and to try their other meals. Thanks for a great dinner!

Nope. Same experience. Sit with friends(who insisted that it was«just me» when I said I’d rather eat a dead skunk on the side of the road than walk in here), an another cranky waitress, more obnoxious regulars, a GREAT burger, but who cares at that point. Just not my kinda place. And to the moron who told me that we must have«ordered fries and sat for four hours» to be treated like that, you’re wrong. That didn’t happen and by your note, I can tell you’re one of the class acts that graces a barstool at this dump with some measure of regularity. You«you know who you are, lady with the waffle waitress haircut» should go to Ireland and see how Olive Garden-ish this place is. F’real.

Great food and great service! Stopped by on a Monday night for dinner and everything was delicious! We ordered the fried clam strips and potato pancakes for appetizer. Both were good! The potato pancakes needed a little salt but overall, delicious! For dinner I had the pot pie and my boyfriend has the 10oz NY strip steak. Pot pie was hearty with a flaky crust, and the steak was cooked perfectly with a delicious Merlot reduction sauce. Ordered 2 sides of the scalloped potatoes since they’re known for it… Did not disappoint at all! Wasn’t too crazy about the corn fritter only because I don’t associate corn and something sweet. Service was very attentive and meal was timed perfectly. Will definitely return!

Came here while I was visiting my girlfriend after Christmas on Friday afternoon for lunch. Walking in the décor is what I’d grown to expect from any Irish themed bar. We were sat immediately as we walked in and I did not even have to stop at a host stand. Our waitress came over to us after about 5 minutes of sitting there, and was the most miserable human I have ever met in a restaurant in my entire life. She had no personality and seemed like we were doing her a disservice by sitting at one of her tables. We ordered 2 beers, the shepherds pie, and a crab cake. The shepherds pie was mediocre at best, and the crab cake was not worth the $ 12 menu price. Overall I do not see what the fuss over this place is, and more than likely will not be returning.

Made me miss Ireland! Post movie date night drink on a Unilocal whim; reviews spot on… perfectly poured Guinness(really); varied and enticing menu: highlights were the scallops; scalloped potatoes; cheddar plate with brown bread; and corn fritter! And we had already had dinner! Will def be returning; incredibly cozy and authentic experience Slainte!

Petty good. Certainly a local favorite, as it was packed on a Thursday night. The complimentary bread was meh. My chicken pot pie was ok but far too much flour taste… must just use the flour to thicken instead of making a roux properly. But chicken was good and potatoes made it hearty. The two coworkers I was with both seemed to like their food. Be warned, the clam chowder is not the creamy clam chowder you might be thinking of when you order, it’s more a minestrone. It was apparently pretty good, though. Overall, I can see this being a popular place for the area, but I’ll try somewhere else if I come back to this part of New Jersey.
